Finn's Fantasy by K.C. Wells Blog Tour

Blog Tour. K.C. Wells Finn’s Fantasy,

A secret desire

By day, Finn builds houses on the coastline of Maine. Afterhours, Finn dreams of the hot older guy who walks his chocolate lab on Goose Rocks Beach. The man of his dreams ticks all his boxes. Salt and pepper hair. Strong jawline. Blue eyes.

His dream man is perfect fantasy material. As for actually speaking to him?

As if. Their paths won’t ever cross, and the guy is probably straight.

A new chapter

Recently divorced Joel is finally living as a gay man, but he’s not sure he’s ready to jump into a relationship. That doesn’t stop him from noticing his new contractor’s muscular build, hewn from hard, physical work, or his storm-colored eyes. Or the way he wears his tool belt slung low on his hips. The icing on the cake? There’s more to Finn than good looks. Maybe he’s the perfect guy to share long walks on the beach and warm nights in front of a fire.

But it’s been twenty years since Joel was with a man. While he’s not forgotten how to flirt, he’s nervous about making a move.

Especially with Finn.

Excerpt

Joel closed the front door behind him before unfastening Bramble’s leash. “You had to go running off, didn’t you? You had to go talk to your doggy pals.” Bramble gazed at him with those liquid brown eyes, his tail thumping on the floor, and Joel realized he was fighting a losing battle. He could never stay mad at this dog for long. He rubbed Bramble’s ears. “Just don’t do it again, okay?”

Bramble’s soft woof might have been Okay, but Joel would lay even money it was more a case of hey, why are you complaining? You got to meet a hot guy, didn’t you?

There was no denying it—Finn was hot, from the sweep of his hair off his brow, to those gunmetal eyes, the color of the ocean during a storm, to that scruffy beard and barely-there mustache. And then there was his build: the heavy coat might have hidden his frame, but it was obvious Finn was not a slight man, capable of being blown away by a stiff breeze.

It was no surprise to Joel that the word stiff came to mind. And now that he knew where Finn lived, Joel would keep an eye out for him when he took Bramble for a walk.

Down boy. You don’t know anything about him—except that he’s hot.

He wants a friend, remember? Finn could be a friend. The only thing was, he wanted to be so much more than that.

I think I'll be in the minority here, but this book was a miss for me. I was bored after the first chapter. Finn and his friends are great. Joel's ex-wife was great. I just couldn't get past the long drawn out longing for each other and not doing anything. It got old fast. I wanted to love this book. I'll try reading it again before the next book comes out because there were secondary characters that I want to see what happens with them.

Shannan☆☆☆
Finn's Fantasy is the first book in the Maine Men series.

Finn's Fantasy is an age-gap, very low angst, and somewhat simple read. Joel is recently divorced. He wants to live his life as a gay man, but he isn't out to his children. Finn watches Joel walk his dog down the beach daily. Finn is hired by Joel to build a deck which turns into friendship which turns into more.

I unfortunately found this read a bit boring. The character building was all about Joel; very little was known about Finn except for his friends, who will appear in later books within the series. It was just an okay read and for that I am giving the three-star rating.

Joel’s smile did things to Finn’s insides. “So you do have a type?” Lord yes, and I’m looking right at him.

On the Same Page by K.C. Wells & Parker Williams

When a Dom invites a shy bookstore owner to live out his fantasies, more than one life will be transformed.

Words are Heath Snow’s life. He can’t remember a time when he didn’t have his nose buried in a book. He couldn’t make a living as a writer, so he did the next best thing—he bought a bookstore. But when he’s not selling books, he’s living vicariously through the characters he encounters. Real men can’t hold a candle to the hot men in his favorite genre.

The Pride display in the bookstore window may be what captured Xavier James’s attention, but the man enthusing about books interests him more. The BDSM book lying next to the cash register is a pleasant surprise, and when he draws attention to it, Heath’s flushed cheeks and bright eyes pique Xavier’s curiosity even further.

Xavier is about to learn that some things are more important than work, and Heath is about to step out of his comfort zone, into a place where fantasy and real life coexist.

Sarah☆☆☆☆
This is a proper fantasy read. It’s the story of Heath, a shy bookstore owner who is initiated into the world of BDSM by established dom, Xavier. Like the others in the series, this is a fabulously steamy read – with a little heart.

I really like that Xavier and Heath’s role plays explore an uncommon kink. I love the fun they both have with their period roles and I also enjoyed the way they slowly started to build a relationship beyond the bedroom. There’s still enough traditional kink and steamy sex to push this well into erotica territory, but I like that it’s a little bit different than I expected.

Set in London’s Soho, readers get a good dose of bookstore envy and property porn to accompany the kink. Nothing about Heath or Xavier’s lives are terribly realistic but I found it easy to drool over their homes, their jobs, and their kink club. I didn’t love the property development theme that takes over the end of the book (and I didn’t quite understand it either). However, I really enjoy KC Well’s writing and I kinda love Heath as an unsuspecting kink initiate. I also liked getting to catch up with other characters from previous books.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the fourth book in the series, and yet I think it could be read as a standalone, and then you may decide to step deeper into the world of Secrets and meet up with some of the characters you meet here.

I really liked Heath and his ordered world. In fact, his life sounded pretty perfect... living above his very own bookshop and making enough to live on, but undoubtedly Xavier brings a whole new level of colour to his life. Thanks to Xavier introducing him to Secrets, Heath also makes some new friends. Watching Heath discover his true nature was very enjoyable, and for anyone who enjoys historical romances, probably made them chuckle at the scenes.

Xavier is a slightly strange character in my opinion. He is clearly working really hard, and doing quite well, but when we get to see him at work, he is unusually cowed and subservient to Church. He also doesn't deal well with having to deal with a serious conflict of interest. By the end I was convinced that he wanted only the best, but his method of reaching that point was rather painful!

An interesting addition to the series, and I loved having a lead character who owned a bookshop.

Angie☆☆☆☆
I enjoyed this book. I love the whole shy guy thing. While we didn’t see much of Secrets this time, we did get to catch up with a few of the characters from previous books. I liked Heath and Xavier; they weren’t your typical couple with your typical kink. They worked for me though. There was plenty of steamy sexy time and I enjoyed watching the relationship between Heath and Xavier grow. Good addition to the series.

K.C. Wells

I've always written, right from an early age. I was always writing stories as a child, and as I grew up, I had the idea of writing a novel, like so many people do. Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C. Wells always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way. K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, where the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings—writing about men in love was even hotter... Parker Williams

PARKER WILLIAMS began to write as a teen, but never showed his work to anyone. As he grew older, he drifted away from writing, but his love of the written word moved him to reading. A chance encounter with an author changed the course of his life as she encouraged him to never give up on a dream. With the help of some amazing friends, he rediscovered the joy of writing, thanks to a community of writers who have become his family.

Parker firmly believes in love, but is also of the opinion that anything worth having requires work and sacrifice (plus a little hurt and angst, too). The course of love is never a smooth one, and Happily Ever After always has a price tag.

Roots of Evil by K.C. Wells

Many consider Naomi Teedle the village witch. Most people avoid her except when they have need of her herbs and potions. She lives alone on the outskirts of Merrychurch, and that’s fine by everyone—old Mrs. Teedle is not the most pleasant of people. But when she is found murdered, her mouth bulging with her own herbs and roots, suddenly no one has a bad word to say about her.

Jonathon de Mountford is adjusting to life up at the manor house, but it’s not a solitary life: pub landlord Mike Tattersall sees to that. Jonathon is both horrified to learn of the recent murder and confused by the sudden reversal of public opinion. Surely someone in the village had reason to want her dead? He and Mike decide it’s time for them to step in and “help” the local police with their investigation. Only problem is, their sleuthing uncovers more than one suspect—and the list is getting longer…

We return to Merrychurch a few months after book one finished and Jonathon and Mike have been dating for a few months. Their romance is coming along nicely but I love yous haven’t been exchanged yet. Jonathon hosts a bonfire and fireworks for the town, and we get to meet more members of the community only for one of them to turn up dead the next morning.

This story is delightful. Even though Mike and Jonathon have no business snooping around to uncover the murderer, everyone in town expects them to do it, even the local coppers. Some of the residents are even eager to pass information along. There are plenty of suspects and while I had my ideas on who did it, I was wrong.

This is such a fun mystery set in a quaint English village with an interesting bunch of characters. I liked the continuing romance between Mike and Jonathon and I even liked that the story faded to black when it was time for our couple to get between the sheets. It fit with the groove of the story. Roots of Evil was great, and I look forward to seeing what Jonathon and Mike get up to next.

This was an enjoyable book. Randy, a cop, and Jesse, a sex worker, two opposites who attracted and had some great chemistry. There was a slow buildup, little "dates" here and there, even though Randy couldn't admit at first that he had feelings for another man. I loved the progression. There was a little angst but how could there not be between a cop and a sex worker? I loved Owen, Randy's neighbor, I really hope he gets his own book. Great addition to the series and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

Brady is Jordan’s super-efficient personal assistant. Jordan runs his own very successful business but doesn’t have time for a love life. Brady has been crushing on his boss for a while, but Jordan doesn’t start to see Brady as more than his assistant until Brady gets the flu. Jordan goes to Brady’s apartment to see how he is and ends up helping him recover. Then when Jordan needs a date for a weekend away, he asks Brady to go along as his pretend boyfriend.

My Fair Brady is an office romance and also has the fake boyfriend storyline. What I liked though is the story isn’t super angsty. There is a little bit to make the story interesting but mostly this romance is about two guys falling in love.

My Fair Brady is a charming story. It was lovely to sit back and enjoy what is really just a simple, happiness making romance. This is one of those stories that makes me smile just thinking about it. It was a pleasure to read Jordan and Brady’s story.

Truth Will Out by K.C. Wells

Jonathon de Mountford’s visit to Merrychurch village to stay with his uncle Dominic gets off to a bad start when Dominic fails to appear at the railway station. But when Jonathon finds him dead in his study, apparently as the result of a fall, everything changes. For one thing, Jonathon is the next in line to inherit the manor house. For another, he’s not so sure it was an accident, and with the help of Mike Tattersall, the owner of the village pub, Jonathon sets out to prove his theory—if he can concentrate long enough, without getting distracted by the handsome Mike.

They discover an increasingly long list of people who had reason to want Dominic dead. And when events take an unexpected turn, the amateur sleuths are left bewildered. It doesn’t help that the police inspector brought in to solve the case is the last person Mike wants to see, especially when they are told to keep their noses out of police business.

In Jonathon’s case, that’s like a red rag to a bull…

Jonathon heads to the small English town of Merrychurch to spend a few weeks visiting with his Uncle Dominic. When he arrives, there is no sign of his Dominic. Mike, the owner of the local pub, sees Jonathan stranded at the station and gives him a lift to his uncle’s home only to find him dead. When Dominic’s death is deemed a homicide, Jonathan and Mike (a former London detective) start some amateur sleuthing to try to find the killer.

This story is totally charming. I love the small English village setting, the mix of different characters, and the way things are not as they seem with secrets hidden behind proper English behaviour. We follow a number of different leads that may or may not lead to the killer. I confess I wasn’t really sure who the killer was and while my brain worked to try to figure it out, I suspected several people, even the vicar’s lovely old wife. I had no idea. But I’m thrilled that I had to wait for the author to reveal who did it to find out who our killer was and why they did it.

While working together to find out how Dominic met his untimely death, Jonathon stays at Mike’s pub and helps him out around the pub. From early on the men feel like an old married couple even though they’d just met, and it felt natural. Their little romance is subtly woven through the story and is just lovely. There are no explicit sex scenes in this book and I was pleased because they would have been out of place. A few kisses here and there were just right.

I had a fabulous time reading Truth Will Out. I loved the murder mystery, and the romance was spot on. Truth Will Out appears to be the first Merrychurch Mystery and I hope that means we will get more stories from Jonathon and Mike.

I have read all of the previous books in this series, but this can be read as a standalone. However, I have enjoyed them all and do recommend them.

This is Aaron and Sam's story. They had a sub who they were truly in love with, but when Seb, their sub, decided to break the contract and leave, neither Aaron or Sam knew what to do with themselves. For a while, they continued to exist. More recently, Sam has been trying to get Aaron more engaged in the outside world, beyond work. At a loss of how to truly move forward, neither has been willing to go to the club or interact with their friends from there either.

When Aaron comes across Tim, who is so weak and sick, he's falling down in the street, Aaron knows that he has to help. Sam and Aaron bring Tim into their home and nurse him back to health. Along the way, Tim becomes more than their charge – he becomes part of their relationship.

It's a slow burn in their relationship and watching all three of them interact, you can see how much they truly care for each other. There are some hot scenes and a lot of tender moments. Tim helps both Sam and Aaron see their relationship in a new light too.

When Seb comes back, all three of them will have to decide what happens next.

I wish that Tim's family had been more resolved. It felt left out after it was such a huge part of the beginning of the story. I loved how the relationship developed and changed. The secondary characters are just as funny and sweet as they had been in previous books too. I love these characters and how supportive they all are of each other. I truly enjoyed this book and all of the hard choices that came with it.

This is a BDSM romance that only just manages to skate around some of my personal triggers. I liked the characters and the sex is hot – but readers who enjoy full power exchange relationships will enjoy the narrative behind this D/s focused story much more than I did.

When Aaron brings home a very ill street kid, he and Sam are surprised to discover how much they get out of caring for the young man. And as much as Tim fills a void in their life, Sam and Aaron provide Tim with the comfort and security he desperately needs. I like the way the three men fit together, and I like the slow burn heat as all three fumble towards the relationship they need from each other. The start of this book is lower heat than many I’ve read by these authors but there are some wonderfully kinky scenes later in the story.

Personally, there were too many times I was uncomfortable with the power imbalance in the relationship between Aaron, Sam, and Tim. When Aaron and Sam take Tim in, he is homeless, bruised, and very ill. While Aaron and Sam are rich, successful middle-aged men, Tim is still a teenager. And he reads as very, very young – especially in the first half of the book. Consent in this book feels a little bit blurry and I was never sure how much Tim’s desire to be Sam and Aaron’s slave is tied to the circumstances that brought him to their home in the first place.

Again, my reaction is pretty personal. I admit to being a fair-weather BDSM reader and I’m not sure I’ve ever fully understood the attraction of total power exchange relationships. I liked all three of these characters and I enjoyed the sex in this story.

This is the third book in the series. While you don't have to read the previous books, it would help you understand and love some of the characters that show up in this book from previous ones. This book was a great read for me. Not a ton of angst but just a bit. There was love, compassion, friendship, and family in this book. There are trigger warnings, so please read those. Tim has a tough go of things and is at rock bottom when he meets Aaron and Sam. I'm not going to summarize the blurb because I'm sure you already read it. Just know this book pulls at your heart strings. Aaron and Sam are so good with Tim. Tim is amazing despite his horrible family. Friends become the chosen family and some families really do love unconditionally. I was glad to see characters from previous books. I love Maggie and hope to see her in future books again. Good love story.

In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings—writing about men in love was even hotter... K.C. now writes full time and is loving every minute of her new career. The laptop still has no idea of what hit it... it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.
