Rachael – ☆☆☆
This book sounded very promising from the synopsis. However, I found that it really wasn't what I expected. The relationship had already been established and I felt like I was jumping in the middle of something that was never fully explained or shown because of it. We never got to know how they came to be dating or how long they were together before the court trial took place. We just picked up where both characters were madly in love and I felt like we never were shown WHY or HOW...it simply just was because of this past we knew nothing about.

The trial they faced off over was interesting...sort of. It wasn't all that riveting to me. Although I did want to know what the truth was, it wasn't so thrilling but simply a mystery. I will say that there is a wild turn at the end when we find out the facts and that was a huge saving grace for the book.

The BDSM was halfhearted to me and felt like it was thrown in there simply to say the book was BDSM rather than adding anything to the story or relationship. The naughty scenes felt almost clinical at times, so that was a disappointment since there were so many of them.

All in all though, I have to say that I did enjoy the actual writing and how well it flowed even if I wasn't rapidly flipping through the pages because I had to know how it ended.

I really enjoyed this story – we jump straight into a relationship, which has been severely curtailed due to the protagonists being on opposing sides in a legal case and behaving ethically. As they rediscover each other, they also discover themselves in the middle of some pretty dangerous situation. There is some good misdirection and questionable viewpoints which try and split up these two – but in spite of their time apart, this pair are more solid than they possibly even realise themselves. For me, it was rather nice to be voyeur with two people who are already close, and learning to enjoy each other again. And they are very, very good at enjoying each other!

When I read the summary of this read, I was immediately intrigued. Mystery, suspense, then add some sexy....it was right up my alley. But it kinda fell a little short to me. When I started the read, it felt like I had already missed a big part of it as it starts in the middle of the story. I felt as though, I had so many unanswered questions and I found myself backtracking a few times to see if I skimmed over some of those answers. The story is well written, but I felt like something was missing.
