Laces and Lace by Toni Aleo Review Tour

Nine years ago, things were perfect. Lacey and Karson had found their happily ever after in each other…or so they thought. How do two people who were meant to be move on from that once-in-a-lifetime love?

Lacey has a strength inside her that comes alive with the things she’s most passionate about. She’s a fighter, a survivor, and has everything she’s ever wanted but the one thing that matters most—love.

Karson is doing the one thing he loves most—playing hockey for the Assassins, yet he knows regret. He knows his life has been missing the one thing he walked away from so many years ago—Lacey.

Nine years later, and neither has been able to succeed in moving on from what was, what could have been, and who each of their hearts still beats for. When a chance encounter during a fateful night has their paths crossing again, will the tether still attaching their souls allow them to face the past, present, and a possible future?

Can two people with fate on their side find a way back to each other? Overcome all the obstacles in their way to finally live life together to the fullest?

Or will they let those around them and the circumstances they face, along with questions and doubt, ruin a second chance at the life they both deserve?

Reviews by the Wicked Reads Review Team

This is a story about fighting for love and for your relationship in spite of opposition of those that are supposed to love you. I was rooting for Karson and Lacey all the way through, even though by the end of the book I didn't really like Lacey – she went from seemingly strong to weak and annoying.

Laces and Lace it didn't knock my socks off like I had hoped. The first 25% was slow but it picks up after that. We initially spend too much time in the characters' heads and their thoughts interrupt the flow of what was actually going on in their lives. But Karson and Lacey's ongoing struggle to be together does make for a good story.

Karson King has never forgotten his first and only love, Lacey Martin. Nine years after leaving her in Chicago, his heart still belongs to her. He does pretty well when he's on the ice, but off of it? He's still the same heartbroken guy who wasn't strong enough to stand up to her family.

Lacey Martin could be the poster child of a cancer survivor. She owns her own business, has a great apartment and loves her family. That's the shell she presents to the world. On the inside, she's lonely. She's had one failed engagement to a man who didn't rock her world and she fears that no man ever will. Save Karson King.

When fate steps in and brings the pair back together, they grab the happiness that eluded them nine years ago. Faced with glaring hostility from her family, Lacey finds refuge with Karson's. Karson does the best he can to be civil to her father, the man who is still trying to ruin him.

The road to happiness for Karson and Lacey is filled not with bumps, but potholes. Lacey has left her home in Chicago, her business and family. She has caught nothing but hell from those closest to her, telling her that they will be there she comes crying home. Trying to find her place in Nashville is daunting to her, and with her family feeding her fears, grows harder when Karson has to travel with the team.

Karson does his best to support Lacey while trying to get her to see that her family is secretly hoping that their marriage will fail.

Through ups and downs, good and bad, Karson and Lacey's love never waivers. I truly loved Karson and Lacey's story and I hope to see glimpses of them in the next Assassins book(s).
