Call of Duty Series by Tamara McHatton Blog Tour

Deadly Obligations

Captain Garrett Jensen, decorated Green Beret, has two great loves in life...his career and his family.

The continual demands as commander of a Special Ops unit become too much for his wife, Catherine.

Although she will always love him, his career is a mistress she's grown weary of fighting. She files for divorce, wanting a normal and safe life for their girls.

Danger, wrapped in the guise of Garrett's latest assignment, strikes too close to home. Husband and wife must team up against the deadly drug underworld in order to save their kidnapped children. Embroiled in secrets at every turn, learning to trust each again becomes the key. This mission could be the miracle that saves their marriage.

Their enemies are within, and without, but which is which? That is the ultimate question.

This is a book to lose yourself in. If you like high suspense this is the one for you.

Garrett Jensen is a Green Beret. The work he does is secretive. He's away from his family for long periods of time leaving his wife to bear the burden of raising two daughters and pregnant with a son. When tragedy strikes and Catherine loses the baby, she's upset, alone and lost. She decides it's best to move on with her life, without Garrett. She files for divorce. When Garrett comes home he's determined to win back his family, but when his enemies follow him home and take their vengeance out on his family by kidnapping his daughters. Catherine joins forces with Garrett to find the girls. Can they save their family and their marriage?

I really enjoyed this one. I am a sucker for a good suspense story and Deadly Obligations had just that.

I can't wait to see what Ms. McHatton has in store next.

This is a fast paced adventure with a couple whose marriage is in crisis as the focus. I have a friend whose husband goes on long missions, so I could relate to Cat's attitude. I even could understand Garrett's arrogance at being sure that he would get her back, but I hated his condescending attitude towards her. Even towards the end when he finally gets how tough it is to be on the sidelines, he is still smirking at her etc. It may just have been me misreading the language, but to me he was a very flawed character. The plot worked, and was both dramatic and exciting.

The story is intense, and works well – and the ending ... thank goodness I have Deadly Loyalties on my Kindle waiting to be read!

Deadly Loyalties

Chantilly LaFluer's old commander presents her with the monumental task of creating an experimental ops squad unheard of before 9/11. A colossal opportunity to make her vision of a Skunk Works team into reality. The only hitch to her plans? One of her trainers.

Bucky Stevens, Green Beret and rogue soldier, agrees to come on board to help his friend, Major Jensen. Beats sitting behind a desk. What he didn't expect was his latest conquest as his first in command. And that's when his problems began.

They answer the call of duty to train an alphabet group of recruits in the latest cutting-edge technology. Danger hits close to home sooner than the top brass expected and their team is shoved into the field. With high adrenaline and higher stakes, can Chantilly accept the deadly loyalty her commander asks of her and walk away with her life still intact?

3.5 Stars
Another suspense filled story by Ms. McHatton.

I was expecting more closure to the unanswered questions I was left with in Deadly Obligations, but the story seemed to jump ahead in time, leaving me with more questions than answers. Don't get me wrong other than that issue I did enjoy Deadly Loyalties. I really liked that there was a tough female character in a man's world.

When Chantilly agrees to speed train a group for a mission she is taken off her game by her attraction to one of the men, Bucky Stevens. The heat between the two ignites with the suspense helping the story along.

Even though this is book 2 in the series I think it can be read as a standalone.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the second in the series, and Bucky, the hero of the tale, was introduced to us in book 1. However there is not a lot of run on, so you can enjoy this as a standalone.

Well-paced, fun and furious – and that is just the romance! The story itself was good and more than just a hook on which to hang the relationship – which was pleasing. I had expected to get more about Garrett and Cat, but this really was Bucky's story. I enjoy seeing the military from a different viewpoint, and a woman in such a strong role is a delight and a challenge which Ms. McHatton deals with very well.

I grew up in Cocoa Beach, Florida around astronauts and aerospace engineers, a true child of the Space Race. Is it any wonder I live life like one big adventure? After turning thirty-something, I became an editor and reviewer, and have over fifty books to my credit. From there, I ventured into providing stock photography and cover art for books, and then married one of the models I 'discovered.' Oh, and did I mention I work with the Chippendales, Thunder from Down Under, and RT's Mr. Romance contest?

I spent the first ten years of my married life as a Special Forces wife, raising a bunch of boys along the way, then I went through a divorce and went back to Florida, back to my mother and family. It took a while, but I eventually remarried 'The Perfect Hero', became a co-owner and CEO of SUITE Magazine, traveled the world, and immersed myself in pleasures of the water: jet skiing, snorkling, scuba diving, tandem surfing, etc. So now, I've come full circle and I'm writing again, thanks to Gail Delaney and Desert Breeze Publishing.
