Bring on the Heat by Katie Rose Blog Tour

In Katie Rose’s irresistible battle of wits, a case of mistaken identity lands a female fan in bed with a sexy superstar—and in major-league trouble.

House-sitting for a rich and famous friend has its perks, and Darcy Hamel isn’t shy about enjoying them. Especially when it means scoring a ticket to an exclusive fashion show hosted by the New Jersey Sonics. An avid baseball fan, Darcy has always dreamed of meeting the team—especially the starting pitcher whose body is as hot as his fastball. But there’s a catch. The gala is by invitation only. To get behind the velvet rope, mild-mannered Darcy will have to pose as party girl Lydia Logan.

Schmoozing is one of the downsides of fame, but Chase Westbrook knows how to liven up even the dullest event. And nothing spices a night up more than a beautiful socialite with a naughty reputation. What Chase doesn’t expect is a hint of sweetness beneath her sultry façade. Flirtation turns to seduction and leaves him aching for more. Chase just doesn’t know who the real Lydia is: the spoiled tease crying foul over some missing diamonds or the alluring woman making a play for his heart.

Bring on the Heat is a sweet read. What starts out as a case of mistaken identity soon snowballs into a lie that just won’t stop. Darcy is ecstatic when her employer – a party girl heiress – sends her to an event in her place. Even though Darcy tells those at the event who she is, no one seems to believe her and assume that she is Lydia, including the Sonics pitcher, Chase Westbrook. Darcy is a baseball fan, a Sonics fan, and a HUGE Chase Westbrook fan. After being ignored yet AGAIN when she tells Chase her true identity, she decides to just go with the flow and enjoy the evening … it’s not like she’ll ever see these people again. Fortunately for Darcy, the flow leads her back to Chase’s for the evening. Unfortunately for Darcy, she can’t handle her liquor and passes out on her heartthrob. Mortified when she wakes up the next morning and remembers what happened, she sneaks out. And THAT’S where the story really gets interesting.

Chase was none too happy to wake up alone, but was quite pleased when he realized that “Lydia” had left something at his place, something that would guarantee that he would see her again. And thus the game begins as Chase decides to figure out just why “Lydia” has the reputation she has when she seems so sincere and caring when they spend time together. By holding the item hostage, he insures that “Lydia” has to continue to spend time with him. Of course, Darcy loves spending time with Chase, but she hates lying to him and doesn’t feel she has any other choice considering the value of the item he still has. As the two get to know one another, Darcy finds herself losing her heart to Chase and dreads what will happen when he finds out who she really is … or isn’t. Unbeknownst to her, Chase is finding the contradiction that is “Lydia” fascinating and finds himself falling for her … at least the parts that are Darcy. And even though the two are clearly well-matched and the sex is great, Chase can’t help but feel betrayed when Darcy’s identity is revealed.

Ms. Rose has penned a sweet sports romance with just the right amount of heat that kept me entertained the entire time. I adored Darcy’s character and couldn’t help but hope that she got her Cinderella ending. I also like that Ms. Rose showed quite a bit of character development for Chase as he found his place within his team and realized what was really important to him when it came to his career. Bring on the Heat is a great start to The Boys of Summer series and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is a very easy read which I recommend to you, especially If you enjoy hot Sports romances. The story was very sweet, hot, and funny. There were some parts which I think require one to suspend belief, but they work to enhance the plot, so I chose to go with it. I like the main characters, and their values by the end make them even more likeable. I was delighted to find out that there will be more in the series, as these are a group of people that I will enjoy reading about again.

I was hoping that Darcy would get her fairytale ending – whether she did, you will have to read and find out!
