Vindicate by Beth Yarnall

Beth Yarnall kicks off a steamy new series—perfect for fans of Kendra Elliot and Emma Chase—featuring a San Diego investigative team with a soft spot for lost causes and a passion for redemption.

Cora: I got my driver’s license on my sixteenth birthday so I could visit my brother in prison. Five and a half years later, he’s still locked up for a murder he didn’t commit and I’m still trying to find a way to set him free. Then I hear about Nash Security and Investigation, a private detective agency that helped exonerate a wrongfully convicted man after thirty-nine years in prison. The problem? They’ve already taken on the one pro-bono case they’ll accept this year.

Leo: I’m this close to finishing law school—and never working another day at my dad’s P.I. office—when Cora Hollis walks through the door. She’s got a box of files, a handful of leads, and an independent streak a mile wide. She fascinates me and I can’t say no. Suddenly I’m volunteering to help her find a missing witness who could be the key to her brother’s case. But nothing is what it seems and giving in to the attraction between us could be more dangerous than finding the real murderer.

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Cora has one last chance to clear her brother for a murder he didn't commit. She’s been trying for years on her own to prove he didn't do it, to get the conviction overturned, She’s running out of time to clear him. With no other options, she turns to a top notch PI service for help.

Leo wants out of his father's PI business. He's almost done with law school, when he finishes he's done with the business. That is, until Cora comes asking for help. Leo wants to help, needs to help her prove Beau innocence.

I loved the suspense aspect with this one. The race to prove Beau is innocent and the side of romance made for a good read.

I wasn't at all sure about this book for the first few pages, but by the end I was absolutely hooked – and am excited to see that there is another book in the series due in February!

The main plot revolves around Cora trying to get her brother released for a crime she is sure he did not commit. The story is well done and is more than just a convenient peg on which to hang a romance. That said, I loved the romance – because it was not what you would expect and in places it was so funny, that I found myself really laughing at the messes that they got themselves into. The humour is clever, thoughtful and these two – who are very, very different – are an absolute delight to watch as they fall so hard for each other, and have the most unexpected reactions. Told from both their viewpoints, the author reveals far more to us than the other can clearly imagine – fabulous for us!

Thank you Ms. Yarnall for a great read, and I can't wait for Atone to come out!
