Rookie Mistakes by Beth Laycock Release Blitz

Lights Out Series. RJ Scott, Lisa Henry, Charlie Novak, H.L. Day, Emma Jaye & Beth Laycock.

Can a rookie mistake lead to love?

Mitch Griffiths is an ordinary man just trying to make ends meet. He lost everything thanks to his ex: his restaurant, his partner, his home. So, when his dad gifts him a ticket to the British Grand Prix and a Silverstone Driving Experience, well, a change of scene for the weekend couldn’t hurt, could it? Even if Formula 1 is kind of boring.

Robert Andilet is a veteran F1 driver on his returning season after a six-year absence. He has a lot to learn, not least of which is how to deal with the media attention, a “rivalry” between him and his rookie teammate, as well as his attraction to a man who readily admits he thinks F1 is tedious. It was a rookie mistake to let Mitch walk away after their first meeting, will Robert make the same mistake again?

This M/M romance from Beth Laycock features a famous/ordinary man, older MCs, and is set in the high-octane world of Formula 1 featuring fast cars, spectacular crashes, heated rivalries, and of course, a HEA.

Rookie Mistakes is the final installment of the Lights Out series. The Lights Out series is a multi-author series, and each book can be read as a standalone and in any order.

Robert Andilet is returning to the F1 circuit after being gone for six years. He signed with a rookie team and is trying to prove to himself and to the team that they belong among the well-known drivers and teams. When Robert finds himself having to drive fans around the track as a F1 fan appreciation. What he isn't expecting is the quiet man who doesn't seem to be a fan since he has no idea who he is. And something about that draws Robert in.

Mitch Griffiths finds himself losing everything due to the fault of his ex-boyfriend, Leo. Mitch trusted him to be taking care of the business side of their restaurant business, but Mitch found out too late that wasn't the case. Forced to move back in with his parents isn't what Mitch wants to do, but he was left with nothing. When his dad, a huge F1 fan, gifts him tickets to the race and a driver appreciation ticket, he has no idea that an actual driver was going to be the one driving him around the track. What he doesn't expect is to be attracted to the man, so when Robert invites him to dinner after the race he can't help but want to get to know him better.

Mitch and Robert worked through long distance and having a text and video call relationship, but they got to learn so much about each and that made the moments that did get to spend together that much more special.

I was so invested in this entire series. These have been the first F1 books I've ever read, and I am hooked. This was a new-to-me author, and I couldn't have been happier with this author’s style and attention to detail. I can't wait to read more.

This is another hugely readable book in the Lights Out series. If you have not read the others yet, well you are in for a treat! Each written by a talented author, and with crossover events to enjoy, I have found each one to be very engaging.

Robert Andilet has been out of F1 for a while, but he took a seat in a team low on the grid with high hopes of improving their lot. Whilst at Silverstone, he meets Mitch at a 'meet the drivers' event. Amusingly, Mitch has no idea who he is, and whilst definitely attracted to him, has no expectations that the feelings might in any way be returned. The rest, as they say, is history, but we get to go along for the ride and enjoy them finding their way to each other.

Mitch is pretty jaded due to a failed partnership resulting in him losing his business and his savings, let alone the man – and now finds himself living with his parents and working in someone else's restaurant. Being in a relationship with an F1 driver seems ridiculous in the circumstances; however, Rob is worldly wise enough to know that this is something special and worth the effort. He proves this multiple times, and I loved the low angst of their relationship.

It worked out just as I would have hoped, with them staying very much in character throughout. Another very enjoyable addition to the series.

Author Bio

BETH LAYCOCK’s books are influenced by her time living overseas as well as the gritty, urban landscape of the north of England where she grew up.

She has been reading romance since she was old enough to tell herself that line every book lover does—just one more chapter.

As a teenager she attempted to write her first novel, and many more since then that are still gathering dust on her bookshelf. It wasn’t until she discovered the M/M genre that her muse showed up and refused to quit telling her stories about beautiful men finding love together. She hasn’t stopped scribbling them down since. Beth’s muse usually shows up when she is in the shower, is allergic to cleaning, rarely lets Beth watch TV, and insists she drinks copious amounts of coffee so she can turn caffeine into words.

Beth’s books range from sweet to sexy, long to short, contemporary to paranormal, but a HEA is always guaranteed.
