Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆☆
This is the sixth book in the series, and I have to say that you need to have the background provided in the previous books to really get just why this is such a fabulous read. It is definitely a fun story in its own right, but with all the buildup it is just all the richer. Just as faithful fans had wanted Tacker to get his life straightened out and Nora did just that, now we want the simmering chemistry which has been brewing for ages between Willow and Dominik to set light on a more real basis.
It was absolutely brilliant to be back amongst the team, especially as they are heading into the playoffs. I love how the previous players are all rallying round Dominik and recognise that he really is stricken with his feelings for Willow, even her ultra-protective brother, Dax.
I loved that Willow would not bend, and had to learn the hard way that she was important, and worth the effort. It made the relationship which ensues all the richer. I think my only complaint is that I could have read many, many more pages on this delicious couple.

When an author writes a sports series, there are usually just stories about the players and their lives. But author Sawyer Bennett has taken this one a step farther with this series. In this story, we get the owner of the Arizona Vengeance, Dominik Carlson, and this story is just as yummy as the man himself.
Dominik Carlson has made himself what he is today. He owns several sports teams and when he wants something, he goes after it. When he met Willow, the sister of one of his players, the passion between them was explosive and he hasn't found it with anyone else. He knows she is going to be back in Phoenix for the playoffs, so he texts her. But she doesn't answer him. It is like she is playing hard to get.
Willow Monahan is an independent, fierce woman that doesn't answer to anyone. But she is afraid of the feelings that Dominik makes her feel. She ignores his text because she knows if she sees him again, her heart is on the line and she cannot go through another heartbreak because Dominik is a player, he has many women at his disposal.
Can Dominik convince Willow that they are made for each other? That they can have a relationship without either of them getting hurt? Will Willow continue with her dangerous job even though Dominik asks her not to? Will the Vengeance make it through the playoffs and win the championship trophy?
I have been intrigued by the little bit of Dominik in each story and was so glad the author decided to write his story. I am even more in love with him now, I love this story even more than the rest of the series. I highly recommend you read it, grab a blanket, something to drink, and a quiet corner, and enjoy all the deliciousness that is Dominik Carlson.

Dominik grew up with nothing and lost more in his young life than many adults lose. But he wasn’t bitter. He made the most of his circumstances. Now, he’s a billionaire who loves what he does. His new hockey team is about to battle it out for the championship, and he can’t wait to cheer them on. He also can’t wait to see Willow. She is the sister of one of his players and he just can’t help himself.
Willow is fiercely independent. She also loves her job and is amazing at it. Being a sought after photojournalist, she travels the world to document current events. Dax is her brother and she can’t wait to cheer him on. And even though she has hooked up with Dominik before, she wants to set some boundaries on their hookups.
Dominik will stop at nothing to show Willow that he can be what she needs and that she is what he wants. But with old insecurities rearing their ugly heads, hearts will be mended, broken, and love will be found and lost. I laughed a lot in this story and I also found myself tearing up.
I can’t wait to see what happens next. These characters have big hearts, massive amounts of love, and they all work together so well. The secondary characters help keep a great flow to the story and you’ll cheer everyone on in this sweet romance.
Sarah – ☆☆☆☆
Like the rest of the series, this is a fun and sexy read full of hockey action. This time, instead of a hockey player, the book’s leading man is the team’s billionaire owner. The leading lady is Willow, a successful photojournalist – and the sister of Dax from book four.
Most of this story is paint by numbers romance with billionaire tropes layered on top of sports romance tropes. Reading this on a tropical beach, I only really cared that it was entertaining and I enjoyed the characters and their relationship. Dominick’s relentless pursuit of Willow and her efforts to dodge his attention is fun and the two are well matched. The hockey action as the team heads for playoffs adds suspense to the story, as does Willow’s dangerous work.
All in, this is a great beach read, even if it’s not a particularly memorable or original story. At book six, the series is starting to descend into smug coupled up domesticity with weddings and babies becoming more of a focus than hockey and hard living. As always, this is usually when I start to lose interest in a series and when I wish that mainstream romance authors could think up alternative happily ever afters for at least a few of their characters.
