Today by RJ Scott Blog Tour

When the world labels a man and judges them blindly, is it possible to ever find love?

Firefighter Eric is on the front line, battling the threat of nature’s destruction in the California grasslands alongside his CalFire team. Focused and calm, even in the direst of situations, he has a strong affection for his fire truck, loves his career, and has best friends he can rely on. All he needs now is love, but that seems to be impossible to find. At his friend’s wedding. Eric falls in lust at first sight with the shy, slim and sexy Brady, even if Brady isn’t the type of guy he usually goes for. What Eric longs for is an equal in his bed, not a smaller guy who might want Eric to role-play big strong firefighter every time they have sex. He wants to find someone he can be vulnerable with, someone who will love him for his soft heart and quiet ways.

Brady’s life plans grind to a halt when his niece and nephew lose their parents in a tragic accident, and he becomes a dad overnight. His Developmental Coordination Disorder rules his life, but he fights both DCD and the fears that chase him every day, to give Maddie and Lucas a home. Agreeing to go to a friend’s wedding is a decision he regrets long before he even gets there. But, he refuses to give in to his fear, even if he might do something that makes him a target for people’s comments and laughter. Meeting Eric, a huge man with a gentle voice and a flair for chivalry, he falls hard. Now, if only he can let himself get past his panic that Eric would never want someone like him, then maybe he could fall in love for real.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the second book in the series, and I would highly recommend that you read them in order; I finished Single yesterday and spent the night reading Today – lovely continuation of the story! I am assuming that you are up to date in my review.

As we join Ash and Sean at their wedding, we also finally get to meet Ash's online friend Brady. He is bringing up his dead sister's children as his own, but rarely leaves home due mainly to his DCD (Developmental Coordination Disorder). Although his mum had always painted the best case, his time at school has left him preferring to live and work at home as much as possible. However, he would not let Ash down today. Ash is aware of his fears, and obviously busy himself, asks Eric to keep an eye.

Eric is enchanted by the man, and happy to do his duty. When Brady finds out why he has been so attentive, he has to assume that it was all out of obligation, but Eric is determined to prove him otherwise. And so we get to see a truly lovely romance blossom under complicated, but definitely surmountable conditions. Brady's two children, Lucas and Maddie, are brought into the story in a very careful and caring way, providing important anchors for Brady, but also genuine opportunities for Eric to step up. I really liked how unforced it felt, and they were not a vehicle for the story to progress, but drawn in by virtue of the ever closer relationship between the men.

Eric's work as a firefighter causes the romance to have to develop slowly, due to worsening forest fires taking his time, and yet, this makes the men's time together more precious and also unrushed.

A really lovely story, with plenty of Leo, Cap, Ash, Sean, and Mia time too!

This is the second book in the series and you really need to read the first book to understand and get some backstory for this book. I was curious about Brady in the first book, he was such a mystery and I was glad to see he got his own book. When Eric was asked to keep an eye on Brady at the wedding, I thought it could go one of two ways and it ended up going both those ways, LOL. I enjoyed the story, but I felt like I didn't really know a lot about Eric when the story ended. Yeah, I knew about him and the fire department and his buddies he shared a house with, but I didn't feel like I knew what was going on inside his head like I did with Brady. Poor Brady, thinking that he wasn't good enough for a long-term relationship with Eric and that it was just going to be sex. I love how fiercely Eric fought to show Brady he wanted more than just sex. Throw in Brady's nephew and niece and you have a good story. I just wanted more about Eric. I can't wait to read the next book, when I saw the snippet of who will be the love interest, I was giddy!
