Mary Jo☆☆☆☆
Once again, I lost sleep because of a Carly Phillips book. I would have lost more, but my Kindle died at Chapter 3... Thankfully, it charged overnight and I was able to pick up where I left off the first thing the next morning.

A man like Lucas Monroe will do that to you, keep you up all night just because you want more. More of his attention, his brains, and especially his touch. That's what the predicament that Maxie finds herself in.

She's been in love with Lucas since high school and only married his brother Keith, after Keith had told her that Lucas was engaged to someone else. Knowing it was a mistake from the beginning, she was determined to make the best of her situation. Until the baby. Until her husband died. Now, she's in one helluva mess and has no one to turn to except Lucas.

Thus begins Lucas' and Maxie's slow journey to find their way to the relationship they were destined to have.

This was a pretty great read, definitely a 9 on the hot-o-meter!

Lucas and Maxie were best friends growing up and though both had feelings for the other, they never acted on it. Then Maxie winds up married to Keith, Lucas’s brother. Now, years later, Keith is dead and managing to haunt Maxie with his stupid decisions from life. The only person that Maxie has to turn to when she’s left homeless and broke is Lucas, who is happy to finally have the chance to show Maxie what she means to him. Once the two are living together, the chemistry is off the charts and they can’t resist one another.

This is a quick steamy read and it moves at a super-fast pace, which I enjoyed. Though it wasn’t my favorite in the series it’s still definitely worth checking out. It has a strong plotline and the writing, as always with Carly Phillips, is phenomenal!

Side note – I don’t know why this stuck with me so much, but it really bugged me that Maxie bought lingerie for Keith and then wore it for Lucas, it just felt super weird…
