Hands On by Cathryn Fox

Hands On is the first of a three-part erotic series from New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Cathryn Fox.

When hot as hell Danielle Lang showed up and asked me to teach her about sex, I thought I was hallucinating. Turns out the beautiful psychologist needed an extra bit of schooling in all things sexual so she could teach a class.

I’m always up for helping a friend. I mean, it’s the least I can do. What I wasn’t expecting is for her to turn the tables and teach me a few things. Only this short-term promise of two weeks in her bed is going by a little too quickly. Not that I’m thinking forever or anything.

I’ve got a football career to get back to. And she doesn’t want to be a part of my world. There’s no way we can be together—so I’m going to make sure I enjoy every sexy second…

This is the first of a three-part series full of mind-blowing sex, featuring a dirty-mouthed football player who knows the score and an inexperienced therapist who needs to learn it. HANDS ON is sure to leave readers begging for more. The next installment, Body Contact, will be published August 2016.

I have to confess to not being a huge fan of installment stories – but Ms. Fox is a very reliable author, so I trusted her to give me enough, and the next one is out very soon. I was right to read it!

This is a short but entertaining read – which is funny, cute, and sexy. It sets up the scene perfectly, gives us two really strong characters and a bestie who appears very briefly, but is important nonetheless. I like that the scenario is based on two people who have met before – in fact, who it would seem have unrequited feelings on both sides, and who are both intelligent and caring human beings. These things matter when setting up a story that readers have to invest in for a few weeks or months – and it is pitched just right, I think.

All in all a great start...roll on the release of the next one!

This is the first novella of a three-part series and while Danielle and Jack don’t have sex in this installment, I would still consider this erotica as their foreplay is rather steamy. Danielle is slated to teach a freshman-level course in sex therapy, yet has no hands on experience with sex. That’s right, folks. She graduated college a virgin. Don’t scoff because it does happen, just not as often of romance novels would have us believe. But I digress. In order to help her prep for the teaching assignment, her best friend suggests that she ask a guy to take her to bed and show her the ropes (pun intended). But not any guy. Oh, no. Her high school crush and the only man who has ever sparked a tingle down below – Jack Rider. After Danielle works up the nerve to approach Jack and he agrees, the lessons commence and Jack discovers rather quickly that remedial lessons are required. First lesson, the importance of communication. Second lesson, comfort with the terminology. Third and final lesson for this book, appreciation of one’s own body with an introduction to dirty talk.

I really enjoyed Hands On. Although I felt the very beginning was a little awkward, once we move past the café scene, I found the author’s writing style to be easy flowing and sensual with a care to giving her characters their own voice. The chemistry between Jack and Danielle was palpable and it’s what made Jack’s realization that there was more going on than Danielle initially told him believable. The man might be a player, but he’s an attentive player. That he’s harbored an attraction for Danielle for years makes his agreement understandable, as well as his determination to make things good for her. Hands On ends with a mini-cliffhanger in that Fox ends this installment in an appropriate place – the successful completion of Lesson Three – but does so with a surprise that left me ready for book two, now! I cannot wait to see what Jack has planned for Danielle next.
