Note
to self: dumping cocktails into a man’s lap does not count as a meet cute.
Accidentally throwing a jug of Sex on the Beach onto the hottest guy at drag
brunch was not how I wanted to start my performance, and forgetting to ask for
his name was the cherry on top.
But when he finds me online and invites me out for drinks, it seems like my
chaotic shenanigans might have worked out for once. Falling into bed with West
is easy, but balancing a gorgeous, rugby player boyfriend with a day job and
drag is harder than dancing in eight inch heels.
And when my participation in a local drag story hour draws the ire of certain
locals, it feels like everything might fall apart. West doesn’t understand why
I won’t step down, but I’ve never been afraid of being myself.
Now I just need West to stand beside me. Because he’s the only man who’s ever
loved me as Rory and Bubblegum Galaxy, and I won’t let that slip away.
You can call me a drama queen, but you’ll never dull my sparkle.

– ☆☆☆☆
Drama Queen is the first book in The Court series.
Bubblegum Galaxy (Rory) loves what she does on stage as a drag queen. She loves
working at The Court, but she never expected a misplaced elbow to a waitress
with a pitcher of drinks and a sexy rugby player all to happen at the same
time. When the pitcher spills in the lap of the rugby player, Bubblegum is
mortified. She never expects West to find her online and ask her out for
drinks.
West and Rory couldn't be more different but that is what makes them work so
well together. Rory has his family’s support in everything he does. West, on
the other hand, hasn't spoken to his family since he came out publicly as
bisexual. After hearing about Rory's run in with a drunk man spitting a homophobic
rant at him and his friends, West is taken back by Rory's confusion at his
rationalizing of the incident. After a tough look at himself, he comes to
understand he's letting his teammates say demeaning things to him about his
sexuality to not cause problems.
I loved seeing West's understanding of himself and that just because he's bi he
doesn't need to accept that behavior. And Rory seeing he had an army to protect
him at the story time. They had such a sweet relationship. Not at all a fluff
read but it dealt with some deep topics as well. I can't wait for more!

baking, Dungeons and Dragons, reading, and many other nerdy pursuits. She also
