Lucifer and Ana go way back. Back to before Walker Security. It began as hot as fire and burned slow and steady for a while. But when Lucas (Lucifer) had to make a life and death choice, he tore a hole in Ana that was not easily repaired.

Now that someone is out to get people from Lucifer’s past, he knows that he has to get to Ana. He also knows she isn’t going to want to see him, and absolutely hates him. But to him, it doesn’t matter. The line between them is still strong and he’ll stop at nothing to make sure she continues breathing.

As they race against someone else’s clock, pieces start to fall into place. Lucifer’s and Ana’s past comes roaring back and they don’t know who to trust.

I can’t wait to see what the next installment will bring.

This is the first of a trilogy of books telling us Lucifer's story – so be ready for a bit of a cliffhanger! I have read many of the Walker Security books, so was well grounded in the organisation and its ways of working. I think you would pick it up even if a newbie – but I would not be surprised if you add the original books to your to-be-read list!

The story moves back and forward in time a little, as we get to meet Luke/Lucifer and understand his previous relationship with Ana, and why it ended – a very dramatic reason! Now a mutual danger brings them back together, and the level of mistrust is pretty strong, but then so is the level of lust/possibly love.

We learn quite a lot of key issues, and others are merely hinted at... but obviously more is to be revealed. I enjoyed the plotting, the complications, and the situations which the duo find themselves in. Ana is a strong character, who gives as good as she gets, and yet her levels of guilt, anger, and confusion are high – once you know what happened, you will empathise.

I am really looking forward to seeing how this plays out and was really happy to be back with the guys of Walker Security again.
