Sheriff
Bree Taggert is both hunter and hunted in #1 Amazon Charts and Wall Street
Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh’s blood-freezing thriller of
murder, rage, and revenge.
New sheriff Bree Taggert is called to a shooting in a campground shuttered for
the winter. But she arrives to find a perplexing crime. There is no shooter, no
victim, and no blood. No one but Bree believes the sole witness, Alyssa, a
homeless teenager who insists she saw her friend shot.
Bree calls in former deputy Matt Flynn and his K-9 to track the killer and
search for Alyssa’s friend. They discover the battered corpse of a missing
university student under the ice in Grey Lake—but it’s not the victim they were
looking for.
When two more students go missing and additional bodies turn up, Bree must find
the link between the victims. She knows only one thing for certain: the murders
are fueled by rage. When Alyssa disappears, Bree must race against time to find
her before her witness becomes another victim.

This is the second book in this series and we are again, witness to a
despicable crime. But the twist… where is the victim?
Bree Taggert is now sheriff and there are some in the department that are not
happy about that. She knows that she has to have the confidence of the people
too, especially since she’s brand new and needs more money for the department.
But what is she to do when a victim calls in a murder and nobody can find
evidence that said murder happened?
Matt Flynn is still his charming, self-confident self. I really liked him in
this book. He was more of a secondary character, but his presence was one that
could be felt. He gave Bree the courage to stand up and take control at times.
He was also a calming person when things seemed to be spinning out of control.
The murders are well planned, thoughtful, and well executed – no pun intended.
I really enjoyed this story. I liked that the romance was very background and
not a driving force. The mystery was the main focus and I really enjoyed
watching it unfold. I can’t wait for more of this series.

See Her Die is the second instalment in the Bree Taggert series. Bree is
now sheriff and is grieving the loss of her sister while raising her sister’s
children. She has a lot on her plate and recently canceled dinner with Matt.
When a terrified, homeless young lady reports a shooting, Bree calls on Matt
and his K-9 Brody for help in finding the missing victim. With Matt and Brody’s
help a body is discovered, but is isn’t the body they are looking for.
The story had lots of little threads to keep you guessing as to who did what,
why they did it, and how all the pieces fit together. A shooting with a witness
but no victim, a dead body in the lake that isn’t the victim they are after, a
missing local college student, local home burglary where jewels are stolen, and
more. The story was thoroughly engaging and moved at a quick pace. There is
plenty of danger during the investigation and the tension builds as all the
pieces start to fall into place and the action-packed climax had me on the edge
of my seat. It was so good.
The mystery and the crime solving are the star of this story for me, but I did
love seeing Bree and Matt work together knowing their attraction and the
potential for romance. See Her Die is an excellent romantic suspense novel
and I look forward to reading more of this series and seeing Bree and Matt’s
relationship develop.
