This is the eighth book in this series, and I have enjoyed them all. Bree is such an amazing survivor of her past and such an inspiration in her determination to right wrongs for her new family as well as for the community she lives in. Matt, her partner both in life and investigations, is once again also a key figure. I love that he respects her and her decisions.

Rain, dullness, and the sadness of a town in the grips of a serial killer do not put out the light that is provided by the ever vigilant and successful Sheriff Bree Taggert. Her newly made team of work colleagues is determined to ensure that life can be lived safely under their watch. It is very clever how the author continues to use the crimes of the past to lead to the troubles of today. Her newly made family draws closer as they face danger, and Matt's parents step up and again show Bree how it is okay to rely on and trust in others.

If you enjoy clever plotting, interesting individuals, and plenty of tension, then this book will give you a great read. If you are also invested in Bree and Matt and their family, then you will have plenty of heartwarming moments, as things get serious. I am already looking forward to the next installment!

Bree is at it again. With women disappearing around them, it's up to Bree, her family, and her town to find those responsible.

This book contains family life, twists and turns you'll never see coming, and suspense that keeps you wanting to turn the pages.

I love this series and can't wait for more. The characters are complex without being overdone and the story is catching and engaging.

I really enjoy Leigh's ability to write twisted characters right alongside compassionate ones. It's a gift Leigh has, and you won't be disappointed!

This is one series that I can't put down. I re-read the entire series before I started this book and fell in love with characters all over again.

Sheriff Bree Taggert didn't ask to be sheriff, thankless job that it is, however, she knows staying in town and helping to raise her sister's children is the best thing for her family. Mending fences, strengthening bonds, and falling in love makes Grey's Hollow more like home than it ever had been.

Since becoming sheriff, Bree and her boyfriend/investigator, Matt Flynn, have seen way more active investigations than she thought possible in this small town in New York. And today brings one more investigation that seemingly puts her and her family in a killer's path once again.

Determined to find those who have been murdering women, Bree and Matt start following the leads that seems to lead back to her family’s old home. When a body is found there, Bree can't help but wonder what exactly happened the night her father died.

Bree's determined to face the past and the truths it held in secret for so long. Will the past continue to haunt the future or will the serial killer succeed in stopping Bree's investigation for good?

Only time will tell...

Veronica☆☆☆☆
From the moment three bodies were discovered by hikers in the woods, I was hooked. The story is perfectly paced, and I enthusiastically followed along as Bree and Matt investigated, eager for the next clue. The author did a great job of keeping me in the moment and stopping my mind from running ahead to solve the mystery. This meant I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns as they happened.

Among the action and the mystery we get glimpses of Bree and Matt’s romance and their home life as Bree raises her sister’s children. I really enjoyed this small amount of happiness in the middle of a frantic and dangerous murder investigation.

On Her Watch was an engaging mystery with a heart stopping climax. This is the eighth book in the Bree Taggert series, and I haven’t read all eight books, but you won’t need to have to enjoy this latest addition to the series. If you are a fan of romantic suspense, I’d definitely recommend On Her Watch and the whole series.

We're back with Bree and her trusty crew, only this time, it's best friend, Dana. When Dana finds herself intertwined in a murder case, it takes all of her friends and all of her willpower to be on the other side of the law table.

To make matters worse, a resident of the community keeps going missing in the freezing weather and no matter how many times he is found, he finds his way out of the house again.

Then, when Bree finds threats against her and her family in email and at her property, it will take the entire sheriff's department to decipher who's after this family.

It is a twisty novel that has a lot of moving parts. They are all mixed together and intertwined. I really enjoyed this one and liked how everyone had their own story but were all part of the same story too.

This is another fantastic Bree Taggert story. I really love how Leigh is able to twist and turn the story in a way that has you seeing it from the antagonist's point of view and the main character’s point of view.

The feeling of going back and forth gives this book a whole new level that is both enjoyable and kind of creepy. Seeing the thought process of the murder is fun.

Lie to Her is a great story about revenge, the twisted mind of a killer, and the desperate search to curb the killer.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns, the mystery, and the hunt. It's on when someone in Bree's life is in danger and she'll stop at nothing to make sure everyone around her is safe and secure.

Bree and Matt are at it again. This time, Bree is in the sights of someone who has a grudge. With her position being elected, Bree knows that things are precarious. However, since she was appointed to the position and ruffled quite a few feathers, she knew that this was a possibility.

As the threats come closer to home and closer to the people who Bree has grown to love and protect, she and Matt have to figure out who’s behind them in order to get the threat to be neutral.

You won’t sit down in this story. It’s fast paced, the characters are well thought out, and it is truly entertaining. I really enjoyed this installation into the series.

While you don’t have to read the previous books in the series, it does help somewhat with the personal relationships that you see in the book.

Mary Jo☆☆☆☆
I love a good mystery and Melinda Leigh does not disappoint. From the very beginning, there are few clues to who murdered her former deputy or his mother. Yet small town gossip goes a long way into convincing people that maybe Bree wanted Eugene out of the way to conceal her own wrongdoings.

The story itself is written in way that there are plenty of people who could be a suspect but you really can't put your finger on any one that had any reason more than the others. Bree is a strong female who doesn't have to downplay any of her strengths to assuage Matt's sense of masculinity and you have the feeling that Matt would be disappointed if she tried to do so. They truly love and respect each other for who they are.

Melinda Leigh's way of storytelling has a way of drawing me in and the next thing I know, hours have passed and it's 3 a.m. and I don't want to put the book down. I'm definitely reading the next book in the series.

Veronica☆☆☆☆
Dead Against Her starts with a murder and Bree Taggert finding the victims, one of who is a former corrupt deputy under her command. We go straight into the investigation, which got me hooked on the story from the start.

The tension in this story builds up as the investigation progresses and never lets up. It isn't long before Bree is dealing with pressure from the media, from a local politician, all the while receiving violent threats. I was so angry and frustrated on Bree’s behalf at the media and the lies being spread. But Bree is such an impressive woman, and it is inspiring to see her managing everything and keeping her cool when people around her are trying to bring her down.

The tension really goes up to a whole other level when one of Bree’s current deputies goes missing. The final push and chase for the killer and the search for the missing deputy is a frantic mix of action and suspense worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster. It was just thrilling to read.

Dead Against Her is such a good read and I’d definitely recommend it and the whole Bree Taggert series if you are a lover of romantic suspense novels.

Bree is reliving the past again. Only this time, it's right up in her face and in the face of the people she loves most. She knew returning to their old house was a mistake. There were too many memories and too much pain, but she wanted to support her brother. Now, she wishes she could take it back.

In this fast-paced mystery, you're uncovering years of murder, a plot that only can be hidden for so long now that bodies are associated with it, and the killer who's willing to do anything to keep their secret hidden.

You'll see this small town's underbelly at its worst. Leigh creates a high stress situation among everyone who's involved, but she also sends in hints of what might have happened.

I really enjoyed following the nuggets as they were divulged. Leigh leads you along with crumb after crumb and in the end, you breathe a sigh of relief. Maybe now Bree and her family can have some peace.

Veronica☆☆☆☆
The fourth instalment of the Bree Taggert series sees Bree returning to her family farm, 27 years after her father killed her mother only to discover human remains buried on the property. We then follow Bree as she investigates the 30-year-old murders that likely involved her father.

I really enjoyed the police investigation and watching Bree and her team as they identify the remains and try to work out who killed the victims and why. I found the story engaging and I liked that it wasn’t immediately obvious who the killer was. As well as the mystery, we get to see Bree’s romance with Matt take a few new steps, and it was good to see Bree’s life coming settled both professionally and personally.

Right Behind Her is another interesting crime story mixed with a little bit of life and love for Bree. I have to say there were a few scenes that really got my heart pumping and had me on the edge of my seat. This is a really good series and I’m looking forward to more books from Bree. Right Behind Her gets a solid four stars from me.

I have enjoyed all of the Bree Taggert stories thus far. She is a strong, smart, and caring woman who is amazing at her job. With her department in need of funds, she knows that she’ll have to play politics at some point, but the committee keeps putting her off – they don’t want her in the sheriff’s position. But when an apparent suicide turns in to something much more sinister, it will take Bree, Matt, and Bree’s entire force to figure out who the culprit is.

This story keeps you guessing. I normally am able to figure out a lot of the mystery as the story unfolds, but this one had me guessing until the reveal, which I absolutely love!

The characters are complex and unique, but still, as a reader, you’re able to relate to them.

I hope more stories are to come, because I want to see the one deputy under Bree go down!

This is the second book in this series and we are again, witness to a despicable crime. But the twist… where is the victim?

Bree Taggert is now sheriff and there are some in the department that are not happy about that. She knows that she has to have the confidence of the people too, especially since she’s brand new and needs more money for the department. But what is she to do when a victim calls in a murder and nobody can find evidence that said murder happened?

Matt Flynn is still his charming, self-confident self. I really liked him in this book. He was more of a secondary character, but his presence was one that could be felt. He gave Bree the courage to stand up and take control at times. He was also a calming person when things seemed to be spinning out of control.

The murders are well planned, thoughtful, and well executed – no pun intended. I really enjoyed this story. I liked that the romance was very background and not a driving force. The mystery was the main focus and I really enjoyed watching it unfold. I can’t wait for more of this series.

Veronica☆☆☆☆
See Her Die is the second instalment in the Bree Taggert series. Bree is now sheriff and is grieving the loss of her sister while raising her sister’s children. She has a lot on her plate and recently canceled dinner with Matt. When a terrified, homeless young lady reports a shooting, Bree calls on Matt and his K-9 Brody for help in finding the missing victim. With Matt and Brody’s help a body is discovered, but is isn’t the body they are looking for.

The story had lots of little threads to keep you guessing as to who did what, why they did it, and how all the pieces fit together. A shooting with a witness but no victim, a dead body in the lake that isn’t the victim they are after, a missing local college student, local home burglary where jewels are stolen, and more. The story was thoroughly engaging and moved at a quick pace. There is plenty of danger during the investigation and the tension builds as all the pieces start to fall into place and the action-packed climax had me on the edge of my seat. It was so good.

The mystery and the crime solving are the star of this story for me, but I did love seeing Bree and Matt work together knowing their attraction and the potential for romance. See Her Die is an excellent romantic suspense novel and I look forward to reading more of this series and seeing Bree and Matt’s relationship develop.

Matt knows what disappointment is. Having been disabled by friendly fire, he has tried to get his life back on track and moving forward. When his good friend goes missing and, it looks like, falls off the wagon, he'll have to work fast to try and help figure out what is really going on.

Bree and Matt are an interesting team. They both bring different dynamics to the situation. They work well together and feed off each other's experiences and knowledge. Bree will work tirelessly to figure out who killed her sister and how to protect her nephew and niece.

This is a good mystery with a lot going on. There is also a lot of baggage that comes with the two main characters. I hope that we get to see more of these two working together, as they worked in a very dynamic and fun way.

It's been a while since a book grabbed my attention, and held it to the last page. I only put this book down when my poor neglected dogs and cats would not stop clamoring for my attention because it was past their supper time.

Bree Taggert is a strong woman, having survived a very difficult childhood. When tragedy strikes again, not only does it bring back the terrible memories of the past, but she knows exactly what her sister's children are going through.

Matt Flynn's law enforcement career was derailed by not so friendly fire, yet there was nothing he could prove. The truth is hard for him to face, but eventually he comes to accept the fact that he can no longer do the job he was trained for.

Matt and Bree meet again in the most terrible of circumstances. Each trying to figure out a way to find Justin, Bree's brother-in-law, and what exactly happened the night Erin, her sister, was killed.

Melinda Leigh has a way of crafting characters who immediately draw you in and you can't help but root for.

Veronica☆☆☆☆
Cross Her Heart is the first book in a new series following Detective Bree Taggert. The prologue for this story is pretty confronting. We are with 8-year-old Bree as she calls 911 while her parents fight, which ends in tragedy. Fast forward 25 years and Bree is again facing tragedy when her little sister is murdered.

Bree travels to her hometown to track down her sister's killer, arrange a funeral, and determinate who will raise her niece and nephew. She teams up with former local cop Matt to track down her sister's missing husband and get justice. There are various suspects and dangerous situations that had me holding my breath. I didn't guess who did it, which I liked. When the killer is revealed, we get a scary, action-packed showdown which is all too real in this day and age.

This story is really well crafted. It has a good mix of crime solving and personal drama and gives us possibilities for the future that left me wanting to read the next book to see where Bree's life will go next. I can see things between Matt and Bree are going to build slowly and I can't wait to see their relationship grow.
