I look up into his dark eyes. “This is a dangerous game of cat and mouse we’re playing.”

“More like a game of cat and bird,” he corrects.

I straighten my posture, my nipples grazing his hard chest. “And we all know how that turns out in the end. The cat eats the bird.”

Nine lightly scrapes his nails over my bare arms before pressing them into my skin. I gasp at the slight bite of pain. “No, the pretty bird swoops down from nowhere and sinks her sharp talons into the cat, marking him for life.”

There’s no sarcasm in his voice. I don’t know how to begin to process what it is he’s saying. It takes all of my concentration to get out my next few words.

“And... and then what?”

Nine picks me up off the floor in one quick motion, flipping me back onto the bed. He crawls over my body, hovering above me, pinning my wrists to the mattress. He grazes his teeth over the sensitive spot behind my ear. He lowers his voice to a deliciously deep rumble that has me vibrating with his every word.

“And then he eats her.”

Nine can be read as a standalone. You do not have to read any of the King series to follow this storyline; it makes it more enjoyable if you did, but it isn't required.

Kevin Schmooter//Kevin Clearwater//NINE

T.M. Frazier outdid herself with Nine. Nine was everything I needed. He's an amazing character, but getting more of King, Bear, and Preppy and there is nothing better than that.

Nine didn't have the best childhood. He bounced from foster home to foster home until it was too much for him. Finding out he had a half-brother gave him the courage to get out of the situation and go search for him. What he wasn't expecting was to find out his brother was dead and meeting the one person that would save him and lose her within the same few minutes. Finding out Preppy wasn't dead and becoming close with Bear and King was life changing for Nine, but he never forgot the girl on the bridge. Meeting her made him want to be a better person.

I loved Lenny. She was badass and so realistic. Yes, she had her own problems, but it didn't stop her. She learned to work through her anxiety with help. She was everything Nine wanted and Nine was everything she needed.

I can't wait for what comes next for King and Ray!! This series and these character are some of the best out in the book world right now!!

I will start off by saying that you do not need to read the first eight books to be able to enjoy this, but you really, REALLY should (just because this is an amazing series)! If you have read the rest, then you know that Nine absolutely needed a book. We needed to get his backstory and figure out what makes him tick. Well, believe you me – we got all that, plus some! As per usual, T.M. Frazier pulled out all the stops and wrote a seriously entertaining book.

Kevin Schmooter had an awful, tragic upbringing. Just about anything that could happen to this poor kid, did (and that is a trigger warning, if you need one). With no one to rely on, and the faint hope of a possible brother out in the world, Kevin embarks on a journey. Of course, that journey isn't easy, or fun, but it does prove fruitful albeit depressing. I've loved Nine since the first moment he appeared in the series. I mean, who doesn't love anyone related to Preppy?!?

Lenny is the polar opposite, she had a fantastic childhood and was well off until a tragedy befalls her and flips her entire world on its axis. Sometimes you meet the most unlikely heroes at the most inopportune times. I believe Lenny was really the star of this book. She's strong, resilient, and yet real. Anxiety plagues her and it's absolutely spot on, but she just keeps moving forward.

I really don't want to spoil this story, I will say I loved both characters and could feel the chemistry. There weren't any slow points, the story just kept moving and if anything, I'd say it ended too quickly. Action, romance, suspense, comedy, and beloved characters (Preppy, Bear, Ray, King, Dre) all combined to make this an excellent read!

T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier never dreamed that a single person would ever read a word she wrote when she published her first book. Now, she is a five-time USA Today bestselling author and her books have been translated into numerous languages and published all around the world.

T.M. enjoys writing what she calls sexy ‘wrong side of the tracks romance’ with morally corrupt anti-heroes and ballsy heroines.

Her books have been described as raw, dark and gritty. Basically, what that means, is while some authors are great at describing a flower as it blooms, T.M. is better at describing it in the final stages of decay.

She loves meeting her readers, but if you see her at an event please don’t pinch her because she's not ready to wake up from this amazing dream.
