Mary Jo – ☆☆☆
I liked this book but for me, it was hard to get into. The characters of Audrey and Caleb are well written, but I didn't think the chemistry between the two was very hot.

The angst that Audrey has to face is daunting and the resolution does come as a surprise. Caleb's determination to protect Audrey is nice and it goes against the grain of what we know about him. We see him failing in love and not necessarily fighting it. Audrey, on the other hand, doesn't want to admit that she has feelings for Caleb. She has seen what the loss of her mother did to her father and she's determined to avoid that at all cost.

Overall, it was an enjoyable book.


Dawn – ☆☆☆☆
Another great book from Donna Grant. However, with this series I can't help but think the boys go looking for trouble so they can get involved, it's like they are attracted to danger.

I'm so glad that Caleb got his own book, out of all the characters I really wanted him to have a happy ending. Brice kind of annoyed me with his meddling ways in this book. I know he was doing it out of love for his brother, but it was still annoying. I liked the lead female, Audrey; she was hardworking, dedicated, and independent. Her love for the all the animals really came off the pages.

As always with this series, something dodgy is going on and the Harper boys are there to help. There were, as always, a lot of twists and turns that kept me turning the pages.

Overall, another great book in the Hearts of Texas series.
