My Favorite Cowboy by Donna Grant

New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant rounds up the hottest cowboys in Texas in her latest novel of no-holds-barred passion.

Audrey Martinez is a veterinarian who has devoted her whole life to the care and protection of horses—even if doing so leaves her little time for meeting a man. Who would have thought that a strange case of criminal horseplay would lead her to falling deeply, wildly in love? If only the man who makes her heart race faster than a wild mustang would let his guard down, that is...

Caleb Harper is no ordinary cowboy. Sure, he wears his hat, boots, and jeans like a second skin, and displays an easygoing charm that comes from years of working on the ranch. But with his military background, and Army buddies at his side, he is tried-and-true Texas tough. Audrey knows she can trust a man like Caleb to help her save horses. But can Caleb trust himself to resist his attraction to Audrey—or will the sparks of their desire end up getting them burned?

Mary Jo – ☆☆☆
I liked this book but for me, it was hard to get into. The characters of Audrey and Caleb are well written, but I didn't think the chemistry between the two was very hot.

The angst that Audrey has to face is daunting and the resolution does come as a surprise. Caleb's determination to protect Audrey is nice and it goes against the grain of what we know about him. We see him failing in love and not necessarily fighting it. Audrey, on the other hand, doesn't want to admit that she has feelings for Caleb. She has seen what the loss of her mother did to her father and she's determined to avoid that at all cost.

Overall, it was an enjoyable book.

Dawn – ☆☆☆☆
Another great book from Donna Grant. However, with this series I can't help but think the boys go looking for trouble so they can get involved, it's like they are attracted to danger.

I'm so glad that Caleb got his own book, out of all the characters I really wanted him to have a happy ending. Brice kind of annoyed me with his meddling ways in this book. I know he was doing it out of love for his brother, but it was still annoying. I liked the lead female, Audrey; she was hardworking, dedicated, and independent. Her love for the all the animals really came off the pages.

As always with this series, something dodgy is going on and the Harper boys are there to help. There were, as always, a lot of twists and turns that kept me turning the pages.

Overall, another great book in the Hearts of Texas series.

Cowboy, Cross My Heart by Donna Grant

New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant takes you deep inside the Texas rodeo scene in the second book in her Heart of Texas series, Cowboy, Cross My Heart, where danger and desire ride side by side...

Naomi Pierce isn’t the type to let a cowboy sweep her off feet. It’s not her first rodeo, after all. But when she returns to her Texas hometown, she can’t help but be swept up again in the rough-and-tumble world of hard-riding, bronco-busting good-ol’-boys she loved as a girl. She might be here to photograph her Rodeo Queen best friend. But it’s one fine-looking cowboy who really captures her eye…

Brice Harper is all man, all muscle, and all heart. From the moment he rides into the stadium, he can’t help but notice the beautiful stranger with a camera watching him from the stands. It doesn’t take a zoom lens to see the sparks of instant attraction. But things really heat up when he meets Naomi up-close—and he discovers that someone is stalking her friend. Brice wouldn’t be any kind of cowboy if he didn’t offer to help the ladies out. But can the rough rider keep this spirited shutterbug out of danger—without risking his heart?

A cute story that quickly morphs into something dark and twisted.

Naomi is back home to enjoy a rare visit with her mother and her best friend, Whitney. Whitney is the current rodeo queen and Naomi loves watching Whitney in all her pageant glory. It takes a dark twist one evening, when someone tries to grab Whitney from the rodeo grounds and then attacks Naomi. She's rescued by Brice Harper and the two quickly make a connection.

Unfortunately, that's only the tip of the iceberg and as weekend goes along, other tragedies occur. Brice's feelings for Naomi grow as do hers for him, but she can't help but blame herself for dragging him into her mess.

The ending seemed a bit rushed after all the drama leading up to the reveal of the person behind the attacks. I did enjoy the book and can't wait to see where the author takes us next.

Dawn – ☆☆☆☆
I didn't know how this book would compare to the first book, however. I was so happy it lived up to my expectations.

Brice was just a boy in book one and has grown up to be an amazing man in this book. When he was faced with helping a stranger he didn't think twice. What he didn't know, was by helping Naomi Pierce he would be thrust into a world of drama and corruption within the rodeo circuit.

I loved the chemistry between Brice and Naomi. The twists and turns in this book kept me reading on.

Such a great addition to this series.

The Christmas Cowboy Hero by Donna Grant

New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant returns to Texas, where a small-town legend just might find the greatest gift of all in The Christmas Cowboy Hero...

’Tis the season for ex-Navy SEAL Clayton East to come home for the holidays—even if the mood at home is anything but festive. His father is ill. The East Ranch is in financial trouble. And now it’s on Clayton, the prodigal son, to make sure his family doesn’t lose everything.

Headstrong Abby Harper is like a mother to her younger brothers, who she’s helped raise since she was a teenager. Keeping them in line is no small task while she’s also working toward her college degree. And now that one of her brothers has been arrested for stealing cattle at the East Ranch, Abby is at her wits’ end. But there is a silver lining: Clayton East. He believes in second chances, and is willing to give one to her brother this Christmas. Letting beautiful Abby—and the inescapable longing in his heart—off the hook, however, is a whole ’nother story. Could it be that the woman of this local hero’s dreams has been back at home all along?

Christmas is a time that I believe that all things are possible, and that happens in Clearview with Clayton and Abby.

Meeting under dire circumstances, Clayton feels a pull toward Abby and her wayward brother, Brice. Making Brice work off his mistakes is just one way to keep Abby close until he can figure out what to do about her. What he doesn't expect is to genuinely like her and her brothers.

Abby is at her wit's end. Trying to raise her two brothers after her mom left for greener pastures is harder than it sounds. When Brice is caught, again, doing something he's not supposed to, she just knows that he will end up in jail and all the hard work she's done in the past eight years will be down the drain.

What she doesn't expect is to have a crush on Clayton East. His family is admired in their little town and she's just a nobody, trying to get her college degree and keep her brothers on the right side of the law. She notices Clayton watching her the same way she watches him and everything changes one afternoon.

A sweet Christmas story where the good guy gets the girl and the bad guys get what they deserve.

Dawn – ☆☆☆☆
I really enjoyed this book, it was such a sweet story with a few twists and turns.

Clayton and Abby meet under quite tense circumstances but they can't deny the pull they have to each other. Clayton wants his cattle back and he thinks the quickest way to do that is through Abby's brother, Brice, who was caught stealing some of the cattle. Once Abby starts to let her guard down, the sparks start flying.

Abby and Clayton help to heal each other without even knowing it.

I really hope there is more to this series as I did enjoy the book, but I want more.
