This was such an amazing read – I feel like all the various threads of this series have finally come together in an explosive story full of graphic action and political intrigue.
Mercy is more confident than we’ve seen her before. Her various roles and alliances put her at the centre of conflict between the werewolves and the fae as she proves herself a pretty badass leader.
I love the way Mercy and Adam’s relationship continues to evolve. She is finally owning her position as Adam’s mate and they feel more like equal partners than they ever have before.
At one point in this story, Mercy makes an impassioned speech about power. For me, it was one of those moments when a book escapes genre and becomes social commentary. Mercy’s power has been hard won and I enjoyed watching her expertly navigate politics in a way she couldn’t have managed only a few years earlier.
This is one of my all-time favourite series. I somehow missed the two most recent books and I love that this one was even better than I’d anticipated.
