Chemical Bonds by L.M. Somerton

Even the best-planned experiment can have unpredictable consequences.

Max Allenby loves his job as a chemist with Armacom, developing new protective materials. He harbours a secret crush for the CEO, the stern and distant Blake Winters, which makes dealing with his harridan of a boss, Dr. Ella Preston, bearable.

Blake Winters is a lifestyle Dom. He spotted Max when he first joined Armacom, but has kept his distance from the talented, young scientist. When his Head of Security, who also happens to be Max’s older brother, tells him about Max’s feelings, Blake decides it’s time to make the pretty young man his.

Blake proposes a dating experiment to Max. For three hours a night over five nights, Max will give Blake his complete submission. Max is conflicted but decides to take the plunge and get a taste of a lifestyle he secretly craves.

Each date night introduces Max to a new level of submission. He loves every minute but is also conflicted—unable to believe a man like Blake wants him as anything more than a temporary plaything.

Blake understands that experiments do not always turn out as expected. He takes steps to convince Max of his feelings and to reassure him that his submissive streak is a strength, not a weakness.

Sweet day at the beach read. There wasn’t much angst and just had a little bit of drama. I thought it was a quick, fun read. I loved Max, he just seemed adorable, and Blake seemed too good to be true. I mean seriously, if he liked him when he first saw him, why would he wait years to approach him? Most doms wouldn’t wait. I did like how patient Blake was with Max, and how he explained everything and tried to always reassure him.

I have to say I liked this book. I haven't just enjoyed a book like that in a while. Yes, it was insta-love and so-so BDSM, but it easily entertained me. I found Blake and Max to be a very enticing combination. Blake's dominance was definitely yummy and fun to read about, and Max was completely and utterly adorable. I loved the shy geek and the assertive boss combination. I'm pretty sure I want a Max and a Blake of my own. It wasn't a drama filled book, and the side characters (especially Max's brother) were amusing to read about as well. I thought it was a perfect book for relaxing and escaping into for a little while. I'd recommend it to M/M romance fans.

Max and Blake's story starts when Max runs into Blake's car while riding his bike to work. Highly intelligent, geeky, and shy scientist, Max has been secretly crushing on CEO Blake. As their relationship commences, he struggles to see what the rich, powerful, and successful CEO sees in him. But Blake has also had his eye on Max, and thinks they will be a perfect pairing.

Chemical Bonds is an erotic romance and the relationship between Max and Blake is the main focus of the story, with a little workplace drama thrown in on the side.

I loved watching our couple explore a consensual BDSM relationship and, as a reader, I felt warm and safe. This is the second book I've read by LM Somerton. I really love the way she writes. I will definitely be reading more of her work.

Lucinda lives in a small village in the English countryside, surrounded by rolling hills, cows and sheep. She started writing to fill time between jobs and is now firmly and unashamedly addicted.

She loves the English weather, especially the rain, and adores a thunderstorm. She loves good food, warm company and a crackling fire. She's fascinated by the psychology of relationships, especially between men, and her stories contain some subtle (and some not so subtle) leanings towards BDSM.
