Winning With Him is the second installment in the Men of Summer series. To get the full impact of the ups and downs of these characters, it should be read in the order that the author intended and not as a standalone.

Winning With Him picks up where we left off in Scoring With Him with Declan and Grant. Declan has been traded to New York, which should be the answer to their prayers. They've made their plan – to be together in November at the beach in Florida. But life has a way of not working out like you plan. After a scare, Declan decides the best thing he can do is break up with Grant. He's doing what he thinks is best for Grant but doesn't completely explain himself, breaking Grant's heart in the process. Grant does what he does best and throws himself into the only thing that has been a consistent in his life, baseball. He has an amazing rookie year, but he can't stop his feelings for the shortstop that stole his heart. Winning With Him spans a five-year period seamlessly.

I was so completely invested in these characters and their stories. It was sweet and heartbreaking, sexy and combustible. I can't explain my delight in seeing that there is more of these characters coming. I could live in this world that Lauren Blakely created forever!

I was so excited to get my hand on Winning With Him, the second book in the Men of Summer series. After the killer cliffhanger of the first book, I was desperate to find out what next and I wasn’t disappointed. What an amazing romance. Grant and Declan’s love story had me feeling angst, pleasure, joy – so many emotions. It wasn’t really a rollercoaster, rather it is an emotional journey between two men who are clearly soulmates. Their journey in life and with each other is so wonderful and in the end, the hard times are worth it.

I didn’t want Winning With Him to end. I loved being with Grant and Declan and I was thrilled when I got to the end of the book to see there is a third instalment to their story, which I immediately pre-ordered. I highly recommend this series for M/M fans.

This is the second book in the series and I would say that you absolutely have to read them in order. If you haven't yet read the first, then you are lucky to avoid the wait for this one! It was such a harsh place to leave us, but all is forgiven!

Grant and Declan were never meant to be, but we were completely committed to their success, even if we knew that Declan was going to do what he thought was best without consultation. It was heartbreaking, yet inevitable. I was fascinated to see how the situation could be turned around, but little did I expect it to be such a long game – really kept the reader on a narrow ledge, waiting for the situation to be resolved.

We get to learn a lot more about both of the guys, their motivations, and their families. Through it all, the whisper of love and attraction lingers in the air. It feels so elusive, yet so powerful, and the tension is intense.

I really enjoyed seeing just how deep the connection was, and how it affected everything they did or didn't do, but that they managed to live a full, meaningful life whilst somewhat in limbo. It is beautifully written.

The next book will be very welcome when it arrives!
