Sir by N.R. Walker

Founded over four hundred years ago, Sanctus Infinitus Redemptio is a private and very elite society where dominance and submission are revered. Steeped in tradition and excellence, every Dominant and every submissive, and their pairing, are selected with great care.

When Hunter Vargo is brought into the Sanctus, his need for strict dominance sees him paired with the wrong Master. But only a short time later, mistreated and his trust broken, he’s recalled, his collar removed. The Grand Master knows it will take a special kind of Dominant to restore the sub’s faith and trust.

Sig Bruckner’s world is perfect. He has a great job, he has high standing within the Sanctus, and he has Levin, the very best submissive. When he’s asked to take on a second sub, a young man with issues and a rule not to touch him, Sig’s world is turned upside down.

When his dominance, his patience, and self-control are tested, and when Sig’s relationships with both subs are pushed past his limits, everything begins to unravel. Yet Sig knows every good Dom learns from their subs, and he’s no exception. He might not be able to fix everything on his own, but perhaps the three of them together can.

A BDSM-lite MMM story

This is a sexy, kinky, erotic read – and a huge departure from anything I’ve previously read by N.R. Walker. The Sanctus Infinitus Redemptio is an ancient formal BDSM community that exists somewhere between reality and fantasy. The narrator is Sig, a SIR dominant who is asked to take on a second, badly damaged submissive.

Unlike any of Walker’s other work, this is pure erotica. I like that the characters and world building are much more developed than those in most erotic writing but there isn’t much effort made to develop this beyond a sexual fantasy. Sig and his two boys play out scene after imaginative scene, each one hotter than the last. I really enjoyed the kink in this book – heavy on D/s, toys, and playroom props while light on S/m and pain play.

There is enough character and story to carry the novel, but this is honestly just a sexy escape read. I love that such an established romance author has fearlessly taken on a genre that can be nearly impossible to do well. I really appreciate well written erotica and I’m happy to give this five stars as a piece of erotic writing – even though I’d probably award it three stars as a romance novel.

Master Sig already has a sub, Levin, that he adores. But Sig and Levin's lives change when sub Hunter joins their household. Hunter has been abused and has been placed with Master Sig for a week and at the end of the week he has to decide if he wants to stay with Master Sig and Levin or be placed with a different Master. The drama around whether Hunter would choose to stay with Levin and Master Sig played out in a way I wasn't expecting (but in a good way) and it had me tearing up.

This is a story that made my heart very happy. M/M BDSM (or in this case M/M/M) is my guilty pleasure. This story is more about the BD rather than SM and has plenty of delicious sexy scenes. But for me, this story had what I love most about this genre, lots of love, care, and compassion. Four stars from me.

I found this to be a really easy read, and definitely on the lighter, more wicked pleasure side of BDSM, which was fine by me – it certainly did not reduce the heat. It was also necessary to fit in with the past that Hunter had suffered. Set in a (I assume) fictional society, which really seemed to rule the lives of its members more than seemed entirely sane. When Sig wonders if a sub could be taken from him even if he did not want it to be so, it raised the issue of just how deep in the society everyone was.

I enjoyed the three lead characters, and think that Levin was possibly the hero of the hour, showing his Master just how to take responsibility and care for those in one's care. I felt he was also the one whose future was most under threat, and yet he was kind and caring.

An easy, fun read in a fantasy world, with some good points to get one thinking as well as being a really delicious example of erotica.

When I saw the cover for this book and read the blurb I was so excited! I couldn't wait for it to hit my e-reader. Unfortunately, I didn't love the book. Granted, it wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I was expecting. I can imagine something like the Sanctus being a secret society many, many years ago, and that part was fascinating to me, but for some reason I didn't feel the connection between the characters and things just didn't seem genuine to me. This was the author’s first time writing this genre and I am certain that if they continue writing this genre that the books will get better and I will end up loving them just like I love N.R. Walker's other book.

N.R. Walker is an Australian author, who loves her genre of gay romance. She loves writing and spends far too much time doing it, but wouldn’t have it any other way.

She is many things: a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who live in her head, who don’t let her sleep at night unless she gives them life with words.

She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things... but likes it even more when they fall in love.

She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal.

She’s been writing ever since...
