WOW. So Captive (Book 1) was really just Tori's backstory to bring us to the present. Bound picks up right where we ended.
AND what a ride it was! It has action, emotion, romance...and she FINALLY starts to learn who she is (not based on how she's been used). Tori becomes a person, and we get to watch her journey :)
The story ends on a cliff-hanger (SERIOUS cliff-hanger) and I just need to know what's going on.
These books are well written, addictive, quick reads and I will definitely be checking out more of Samantha Jacobey's work.

Wow! I am so invested in this story that I just read straight through till I finished ... with a cliffhanger ending.
The author writes with such an easy style and has an amazing story to tell. My emotions were high, low, worried, smiling at little victories and delighted as Tori's story progresses. I love the way in which multiple stories are being intertwined, so that the reader dare not make assumptions, as they will be shattered, I am sure.
If you haven't yet read Captive, then please read it first, or you will miss the whole point of this story. There are back references that refresh the memory, but that is all. Anyway, how you could you not want to read the first in this great series? I can tell I am in for the long haul.
(Luckily I am in the very privileged position of having book three ready to go!)

Bound is book 2 in Samantha Jacobey's New Life series which will have 7 books in total. The books must be read in order as it is a continuation of Tori's story.
Book 2 takes off from where book 1 left off and we go with Tori to LA as she tries to live a "normal life." Less of this book is spent telling tales of the past although we are taken there several times.
This book was not quite as gripping as the first and at times I felt that story was a little rushed. Once again, Samantha packs a lot in to a story that is less than 200 pages.
I am totally taken in with Tori's story and we are shown both her weaknesses and strengths in Bound. A few questions we may have had are answered but many more remain and new ones raised.
I'm hooked on this series and will be starting book 3 next. If you like a challenging, engaging read, then I'd recommend Bound and the New Life series.

3.5 - 4 Stars!!!
"I woke up in Mercy Hospital in Chicago thirty-six days ago. I spent four days in the hospital portion, and then was sent over to the mental health ward for twenty-nine days. I spent two nights at the federal building and one night with Eli. In that short amount of time, my life has completely changed. I have gone from being property of a group of mercenaries living a life of pain and anguish to a young women headed to a halfway house, a job, and a future."
That's sums up what we know so far. Now we take the journey with Tori to finding herself. I loved watching Tori grow as a person.
BUT I WANT MORE ANSWERS. I was left hanging off a cliff. Where's Eli, what do the Feds have up their sleeves, Michael, her birth certificate????
I was torn on how to rate this book. There were parts I loved, and parts I found to be completely unbelievable. Example- Tori and Enrique's relationship did not feel right, too soon, not enough build-up. I really had to set that aside in my mind so I could focus on the rest of the story.
I have to say though, I'm intrigued, I definitely want more, and I will continue this web of crazy. I'll put away the things that bother me, because this story is all consuming!!!!!!

I found Bound to be better than Captive, story wise, but here is where my problem is. Bound left me with so many questions and no answers. Tori moves to a half-way house in California. Gets a job she enjoys and is trying to make something with her life. When someone from her past comes to the half-way house, a relationship starts but it was so quick and no build up, I needed more...more development, something.
I do love the suspense of this story but where the hell is Eli? I need more Eli and Tori!
I know this is just number 2 of a long series but I need my answers now! I love the craziness of this story!
Can't wait to read Entwined to see if and when all my questions are answered!

Tori is headed to LA to maybe get help with fitting into society. She really doesn't know how to act around others that do not want to use her. She misses Eli and Debra and when she calls the F.B.I. office in Chicago, they are no longer assigned to the office. So she feels lost all over again. At the halfway house, there is one other girl there and she is wary of being friends. Things are starting to look up for her until a familiar face from her past shows up at the halfway house. Terry, at the music store, is showing her how the business side of business works and she is catching on fast. Terry feels it is safe to leave her to do the books and paperwork. Tori just wants her time at the halfway house to be over so she can move on and not put her new family in any danger. Seems that danger is always around the corner waiting for her. There are a few twists and turns that I was not expecting and it threw me for a loop. And then the biggest twist is the ending. Can't wait to start Entwined (book 3) shortly.
Anyone who knows me could tell you, I am a friendly kind of person, never met a stranger and take up conversations anywhere at any time. I work hard, and my mind never seems to shut down, as I wake up often in the middle of the night with ideas pouring out and demanding to be dealt with. Of course that means much of my books were written in the middle of the night.
I grew up and still live in the great state of Texas where everything is bigger, where we have warm weather and a central location. I love my state, my town, and my family, which includes my four sons, my significant other, and many friends as well.
I have thoroughly enjoyed writing the books that are currently available and hope you will enjoy reading them just as much. And of course, there will be many more stories to come.
