Body Shot by Kelly Jamieson

The bestselling author of the Heller Brothers series stirs up a tempting cocktail of fun and seduction as a sexy SEAL-turned-bartender treats a buttoned-up scientist to a wild weekend... and a change of heart.

Former Navy SEAL Beck Whitcomb left a world of privilege to prove he could make his own way. Money, mansions, expensive cars—none of it could heal the loss of his older brother, or buy his parents’ love. Now, after using his trust fund to open the Conquistadors tequila bar with his brothers-in-arms, Beck has it all: good friends, fine liquor, and hot hookups. When it comes to women, commitment’s not his thing—until he gets a taste of the pretty professor who walks into his bar... and winds up in his bed.

Hayden Miles knows all too well that emotional decisions can lead to heartbreak, and nothing screams “bad decision” like a playboy bartender with inked biceps and a wicked smile. Still, their chemistry is off-the-charts explosive—and Hayden knows her chemistry. For once, this good girl longs to let loose. But is she willing to risk the pain to quench her thirst? With the promise of more on the table, Hayden’s eager to believe... before she misses her shot.

Mary Jo☆☆☆
This story had a good premise and was solid throughout, but I felt that there was something missing, a spark between the main characters, something.

Don't get me wrong, the romance was hot, but seemed to be a bit forced at times.

I do want to read the next book in the series.

I am a big fan of Ms. Jamieson, so was delighted to get this book to read. I was not disappointed – this is another series that I shall be adding to my “look out for” list.

Hayden is a very interesting character, clearly determined and super smart, she also has a huge heart and is far too busy for a relationship – and in her mind, far too boring. Her childhood habits of separating food and enduring insults have shaped her alongside the death of her parents when she was a teenager. Her interactions with Beck, who also suffered loss at a young age, show how differently people can react to the pressures put upon them.

The chemistry between these two may not be explainable by the reserved biochemist, but luckily, she does allow herself to investigate more. They are great fun together, and Ms. Jamieson uses her skills to make their relationship both fun, flirty, and super sexy.

I am excited to see where this goes next; there are some tantalising hints at the end of the book. If you are in the mood for a fun, flirty, and engaging read, then I recommend that you pick this up and give it a go.

Kelly Jamieson is the author of more than thirty contemporary romance novels. She’s a married mother of two who lives a very ordinary life outside of her imagination. She likes coffee (black), wine (mostly white), and shoes (high!). She also loves watching hockey.
