Lethal Lies by Rebecca Zanetti

A deadly secret can't stay buried forever...

Revenge. It's the only thing that will help Anya Best sleep at night. The serial killer who murdered her sister is on the loose, and Anya will stop at nothing to put him behind bars-even use herself as bait to lure him out of hiding. But she can't do this alone.

Private investigator Heath Jones's job is to bring bastards to justice. This time it's personal. He knew the Copper Killer's latest victim so when her sister asks for his help, he's all in. But when Anya uses the media to taunt the killer, she exposes Heath's identity, putting them both in jeopardy. Now, secrets buried long ago are coming to light and the forces determined to destroy him are watching Heath's every move, waiting to exact their own revenge. And they'll use anything and anyone to get to Heath.

With twists and turns that will take your breath away, Lethal Lies is sexy, action-packed suspense at its very best from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti.

Sarah☆☆☆☆
The second book in this series sees the brothers continue to run from Dr. Madison and Sheriff Cobb, while also hunting down a serial killer. Once again, I enjoyed the combination of suspense and romance.

This time, the focus of the story is on Heath and Anya, a psychologist whose sister is one of the killer’s victims. I liked both of these characters, but they didn’t come alive for me in quite the same way Ryker and Zara did in the first book. Heath’s story still isn’t as clear for me as Ryker’s was. Anya is supposed to be a psychology professor but her childish and reckless behaviour didn’t necessarily match her professional identity.

This story starts mid-action and the author expects readers to pick up directly from the last book. The result is less world building and less character development – readers are expected to know the brothers and their background. The tradeoff is that there is little time spent recapping the first book and more time spent on the increasingly complicated plot. I loved the series of surprises – I really didn’t guess the Copper Killer’s identity – but I did guess pretty much every other character along the way. Which is always the sign of a good suspense story.

I enjoyed the action more than the romance in this book. I’m fascinated by Dr. Madison’s experiments and I like the links back to other series. We’re given a teaser for the next story at the end and I’m excited to read the third book in this series.

This book is the second installment and it is just as filled with action as the first.

Anya was being stalked – taunted and doing what she thought was the right thing, she contacted the FBI. Unfortunately, it turned out that the killer was one step ahead and was able to get the upper hand. In the process of finding out who this stalker is, her sister is murdered. With few options, Anya turns to Heath.

While trying to figure out what was going on in the Copper Killer case, Anya runs into Heath. He is part of the PI group that her sister was working with. He and his brothers are still running from Ned Cobb and Isobel Madison, but they are hoping to go offensive rather than always play defense.

The romance that is in this story is not very developed. It's more of a suspense and mystery story. However, what little glimpse we see of both Heath and Anya, you can tell that they will fit together. While they don't always see eye to eye, Anya seems to be able to stand up to Heath.

Overall, this was a fast-paced story with a lot going on. You definitely need to read the previous books to know who all of the characters are and have a good handle on what's going on.

I can't wait for Denver's story. I feel that he's fairly deep and hope for a great story.
