Solo by Carol Lynne

In a club of mean bikers, being gay can get you killed, but love can save any man.

Sam ‘Solo’ Braun lives by one truth, the Grave Diggers Motorcycle Club, above all. The creed has served him well, giving him the only real family he’s ever known. He would die for his brothers and them for him, but they don’t know he prefers men over women. Coming out to a group of men who fear no one isn’t high on Solo’s priority list, especially because he’s never indulged in more than one-night stands.

Everything changes after one night with Eric James. For the first time, Solo can’t stop thinking about a single night he’d spent with a man. When fate intervenes, Solo comes face-to-face with his blue-eyed obsession, only to find out Eric is a cop. Solo hates cops, and so do his brothers in the club. However, Solo decides to gamble everything and spend more time with Eric under the guise of getting information.

Falling in love with a cop is a very dangerous proposition for a man in Solo’s position, so why can’t he walk away?

Solo is a member of Grave Diggers MC. He's gay, something his brothers aren't aware of. He meets Eric at a local bar and his only thought is a one-night stand, but somehow Eric (Blue) is working his way under Solo's skin. Solo knows he wants to see Blue again, until he finds out he's a cop. Cops and MCs don't tend to mix well. Can the two of them working toward a common goal keep them together?

I liked Solo. Did I absolutely love it? No. Unfortunately it wasn't one of my favorites. The insta-love factor was high which pulled me out of the story. Solo didn't seem to live up to the name given to him. He never came across as that loner guy. I did like the idea of a cop and an MC member falling in love, the issues they would face. Solo seemed to lose his hardness, his toughness once I got to the middle of the read. I would have liked to seem him keep that edge to him, BUT that would never stop me from reading more from this author.

This quick, but intense read is very good. The unexpected attraction between two people who seem to be completely incompatible turns into a great romance. Some of the lines are really poignant, especially in relation to Blue's house, and make one stop and think. I loved the chemistry, the divided loyalties, and the true friends – all excellent ingredients in a well written romance.

Thank you Ms. Lynne for another good read.
