Wildcard: Volume Three by Missy Johnson Review Tour

She’s hiding something from me and I need to know what it is. I’ve done so many things I never thought I’d do for this woman and it kills me that she’s lying to me.

How can I make her see that she can trust me?

Do I want to know the truth?

Sometimes things are easier when they’re left unsaid…

Wildcard: Volume Three is the final book in the Wildcard series and is full of drama. Full to the point that there was a time or two when I felt another Moonstruck moment coming on. You know the scene where Cher slaps Nicolas Cage, yelling at him to “Snap out of it!”? Yep, that’s the one. Scar and Ryder were seriously annoying the crap out of me. I understood the lying and the secrets. They were both trying to protect the other. But when they learned of the police investigation while they were in England – a whole ocean away from the mess – and were petrified, I actually yelled at my Kindle: “Hello…you’re in England. They’re not going to extradite you for questioning. Even if they had evidence, the US would look like the biggest arse in the international community for trying to extradite a single mother while her severely ill son is under treatment and that’s not gonna happen!!!” <= SEE!!! Moonstruck moment.

Sadly, I really thought the book wasn’t going to do the series justice. Thankfully Ms. Johnson proved me wrong with Scar’s epiphany in the hospital at about 74% into the book. While it may or may not have been the author’s intention to lighten the mood of the book, that’s exactly what it did for me. I burst out laughing and sailed through the remainder of the book. There was still plenty of drama and excitement to be had, but I found it much more palatable – likely due to the fact that by this time Scar and Ryder began to show more of a united front against Tony and his machinations. All in all, Wildcard: Volume Three was a great ending to the series and I look forward to reading more of Ms. Johnson’s work.

This is the third book in the series, and has to be read in order.

Great conclusion to a well thought out story. So many times a dual POV story can fail – but most certainly not here. The chopping and changing worked, keeping the reader's head moving as if watching a tennis match. I'm even excited at the prospect of catching up with my new friends when Callie gets her story. Possibly my only gripe is that I would have happily read it all in one sitting rather than having to wait – but now can reread in its totality.

Fun, cute, sexy and dramatic – this series presses all the right buttons – enjoy!

Veronica☆☆☆
The final instalment of Missy Johnson's Wildcard series is a little angsty. Both Ryder and Scarlett are hiding secrets, each of them afraid to tell the other what they've done – trust is an issue with this couple and it made me keep turning the pages.

While this is a romance series, as a tennis fan I particularly enjoyed the scenes where Ryder is coaching Cally but you don't need to be a sports fan to enjoy this book. It is a fun series and the author finished the trilogy off nicely.

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Volume III is the final book in the Wildcard Series. I felt it was a very good ending to this series. I had a love/hate relationship with Ryder and Scar in this one but in the end it was well worth the read.

There was so much drama in this one that just one conversation could have stopped. The back and forth hiding secrets was seriously annoying. I get that they were trying to protect each other but lord. Ms. Johnson brought it all together when they finally did come clean with one another and it became a better read. I truly enjoyed the series and it is worth the read.

I can't wait to see what Ms. Johnson comes up with next!

Wildcard: Volume Two by Missy Johnson Review Tour

I’m so fucking pissed off that she would do this to me.

I really thought we had something, but instead, I’m left feeling like an idiot.

All I want to do is go back home and forget the last few weeks ever happened, but I’m stuck in this stupid country teaching tennis to spoiled rich kids who care less about playing than I do.

All I want to do is forget about her.

But things are never that easy, are they?

Angela☆☆☆☆
As much as serials annoy me because of the cliffhanger aspect, Ms. Johnson definitely knows how to write a good serial. Thankfully, she also released part two in a timely manner so that I was able to read it without having to go back and reread part one. By that I mean that when the story opens with Ryder mentally cursing Scarlett I was able to recall the end of volume one with ease.

While Ryder does give Scarlett the opportunity to explain who “the guy” is, he doesn’t do it before taking his metaphorical pound of flesh. This brings me to the only issue I actually had with the story. I cannot imagine any woman, much less Scarlett, being able to rationalize Ryder’s behavior toward her and “forgive” him so quickly. Ryder, at least, has some residual mistrust of her once they’ve reconciled over the issue and that she refuses to explain the situation seems to justify his mistrust.

Wildcard: Volume Two ups the drama for the series. I want to know what Scarlett did that has her ex blackmailing her. I can’t wait to see what happens with the person at the other end of the cell phone. Is Ryder going to accomplish anything with the ex now that he’s involved himself? Can Scarlett and Ryder maintain the passion between them? Seriously, the sex between these two is HOT! So many questions. Fortunately all should be answered in two to three weeks when Wildcard: Volume Three is released. I am looking forward to it already – the sign of a successful serial.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This book, the second in the Wildcard adventure is a whirlwind read. The reader is catapulted backwards and forwards, changing allegiances as the story unfolds. I really enjoyed it – but I NEED the final episode asap!!

DO read these in order, and enjoy both a fun, moving and sexy tale of two people who (hopefully) will get themselves sorted out by the end of book 3. There is a lot more to uncover, I have no doubt!

Veronica☆☆☆
Wildcard Volume 2 is the continuation of Ryder and Scarlett's story. Ryder and Scarlett's story is fun mainly because Ryder is a great character. He is brilliant and flawed and amusing. In the end however volume 2 turned out a little more serious than the first instalment and I was left with a not so great impression of Scarlett.

This books answers some but not all of the questions raised in volume one and new issues arise which leave us with another cliffhanger. But no need to worry – book 3 is due out in less than 2 weeks.

**4.5 STARS**

This was a super quick read. I wanted so much more, I have so many questions!!

I love Ryder. He's a bit of a bad boy, but sweet and sexy.

Ryder's hurt, pissed off, and thinks of himself as a fool. Ryder finally decided to open up to someone and she played him for a fool. Now he's stuck in the US for a month. He's surprised to see Scarlett at his door, will he listen to reason, listen to her explanation? Can he believe what she is telling him or is there more to her past than he realizes?

I can't wait to get the next volume. I need to know what is going on!!!!

Wildcard: Volume One by Missy Johnson Review Tour

246.

That's the number of women I've shagged in the last twelve months.

I'm Ryder Stevens.

Don't pretend you don't know me. I'm a god.

I'm hot, I'm British and I take what I want. I'm also the number one ranked tennis player in the world. But it's my off court antics that gain the most attention. I cruise through life, running from one scandal to the next. Hell I can't even take a piss without the world knowing about it.

Rules? Who gives a shit?

Rules are there to be broken and I'm the king of breaking them.

But even the king can be bought to his knees. I'm sidelined with an injury that changes everything.

Maybe my life isn't so perfect after all...

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it's a quick read that I lost myself in.

Ryder Stevens is a professional tennis player. The best player in the world. He is selfish, egotistical, a womanizer, he doesn't respect his sport or the other players. When he suffers an injury that forces him to take time away from the court and his sex life he doesn't know what to do with himself. Finding a fan letter that has a child calling him a butthead. With nothing but free time on his hands he decides to call Jake and let him see for himself that Ryder isn't a jerk. Ryder calls but gets Jake's mom, who refuses to let him talk to him. Can Ryder make her understand that he isn't totally like the guy the media plays him out to be?

I can't wait for part 2!!

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is a very enjoyable start to a new series from Missy Johnson. I am a huge tennis fan, and it is not difficult to imagine such a player as Ryder (although the chances of him being British are sadly all too slim!). The set up for him to meet Scarlett is clever and gives the reader plenty of background in a very short space of time.

The plot is hot, funny and cute - and with that cliffhanger ending, need the second installment releasing as soon as possible!

Veronica☆☆☆
Ryder Stevens - British tennis player ranked number one in the world, bad boy with a different woman every night. Ryder makes no apologies for the way he is but I like to think the "accident" he suffers early on in the story is a little payback for his womanising ways.

I loved the way that Ryder meets our heroine Scarlett. It was original and cute and made for a fun story.

Be warned, this is the first in a trilogy so we do get a cliff hanger at the end of volume 1 but it is easy to see it coming. I'm looking forward to volume 2 to find out what happens next.

Angela☆☆☆☆
Wildcard is my first Missy Johnson book and so far I'm enjoying myself. I don't read too many serials as I find it hard to review just part of a story, so I tend to wait until all of the parts have been released and read them back-to-back. That said, I found this installment to be an enjoyable beginning to Ryder and Scarlett's story. Ms. Johnson has done a nice job of mixing humor with just the right amount of steamy scenes to have definitely snared my attention. Knowing that Ryder is a player, I will admit that I was expecting more of a revolving door look into his sex life. But the author took the book in another direction and I'm quite pleased with the story so far ... except was that cliffhanger ending really necessary? That really is a rhetorical question as I know that cliffhangers come with serial territory. I am definitely ready for part two now.
