Sarah☆☆☆☆
This is a sweet, sexy, and often funny story about a graphic designer and the sexy man who helps her friend move house. While they both feel an immediate attraction, Kenzie has been burned too many times before and Evan has to show her that he’s worth taking a risk on.

The relationship that stops and starts between Kenzie and Evan is entertaining. Kenzie’s little brother brings charm and humour to the story. Kenzie’s friends are smart and funny – and I loved them.

My only reservations about the book lie with the two main characters. I understand why Kenzie is skittish about relationships, but the girl has serious baggage and her neurosis were a little bit much for me after a while. I loved everything about Kenzie in the rest of her life – her friends are wonderful, she’s great with her brother, she’s a fantastic businesswoman – but she’s infuriating when it comes to men. Her character is realistic, but I didn’t love the angst and meltdowns.

Evan is also a little bit infuriating because he is perfect. Kind, patient, thoughtful, successful – he’s a fantasy boyfriend from central casting. I’m not sure I’m even allowed to be irritated by perfection but my favourite men have a little edge, a few quirks, and they mess up sometimes.

Overall, this is a fun, easy read full of likeable characters and family drama. It’s the third book in a series but I read it as a standalone without any problems. It’s a well-paced read and I liked the writing style.

The Only Thing by Marie Harte

What do you do when a "fake" relationship is so much better than the real thing?

Hope Donnigan is finally getting her life together. She's working a job she likes, has some amazing friends, and is steering clear of Mr. Wrong. Now if only she could get her mother to understand that. Maybe a hot tattoo artist from the other side town is just the ticket to teach her mom a lesson.

J.T. Webster fell for Hope months ago at his sister's wedding. So when she propositions him to be her fake boyfriend to get her mother off her back, he's all in. The only problem is J.T. had no idea their pretend relationship would be better than anything real he's ever had...

Lee’Anne☆☆☆☆
I really enjoyed this super-hot, humor-filled book! J.T. and Hope’s story is interesting, funny, and will have you unable to put it down!

Hope is happy with life, she’s finally figuring things out and has made a decision to stay away from guys for a while. Her mother has other plans, she wants to see Hope settled down with a “nice young man” and still stop at nothing to make it happen. Hope winds up scheming a way to keep her mom off her back – she winds up in a “fake” relationship with J.T. Webster, a man whom she knows is the opposite of everything her mother wants for her. J.T. has been crushing on Hope since he first saw her at his sister’s wedding. The two aren’t able to keep their hands off one another long but Hope remains in absolute denial that they’re in a real relationship, while J.T. is fighting tooth and nail to get them to “real” status.

I was back and forth on my feelings about J.T. and Hope’s denial about being in a relationship. At some points I was frustrated because I just wanted it to happen, but the author does such a great job keeping the storyline flowing that the frustration didn’t last long. Other than that, this is a fantastic read and I can’t wait to see more from The Donnigans!

This is a sweet story and I enjoyed it more than book #2. This was more of a love story and kept you guessing as to where it was going to go.

J.T. is a hardworking, honest guy who loves what he does. He is also dedicated to his family and friends but knows that something is missing. He can't quite figure it out, but when his friend Hope, whom he is wildly attracted to, asks for his help in tricking her mom, he is all in.

Hope is loving her life right now. However, the constant nagging by her mother is making her feel both inadequate and like a failure. When she hatches a plan with J.T. to show her mother up – who is very judgmental – everything goes the way Hope believes it will... until it changes.

Hope is getting strange messages, flowers, and feelings. J.T. wants nothing more than to protect her. In order for both of these characters to stop running, they have to decide if love is worth the risk. It was a sweet story about trusting in your feelings and taking some risks.

Mary Jo☆☆☆☆
What's better than a real relationship? A fake one with a guy who knows the score. What Hope doesn't realize is that J.T. is all in and he's willing to play Hope's game to get what he wants. And he wants Hope.

Hope's tired of her mother setting her up with guys or being on her case for not dating at all. So she invents a boyfriend and when her mother wants to meet him, she convinces J.T. to play along. What she doesn't realize is that she's not as good an actress as she thinks she is.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
I must admit that this is my first read of a book in this series, so I had less invested than many readers I am guessing. However, I loved it and have added all the others that fit with this story to my to-be-read shelf!

From the first dinner Hope has with her parents, and she tries the shock tactic of the inappropriate boyfriend, to the very end, this is a fun, sexy, and very enjoyable read. The writing style is easy and just entices you to turn another page, and then another!

I had to laugh at their denial of anything meaningful, even when it was blatantly obvious how much they cared – I felt that Ms. Harte wanted to see just how far she could push them, and she timed it to perfection.

Whilst I may have missed some of the nuance, I found this to be a very good stand-alone read too.

Collision Course by Marie Harte

He's always had a way with the ladies
She won't give him the time of day
Sparks fly when two hearts in motion collide.

Florist Joey Reeves is working overtime to stay away from Lou Cortez, the ace mechanic with a reputation for irresistible charm. She's a single mom with enough on her plate—the last thing she needs is entanglement with the hottest guy in town...

"Well, hello there."

Joey glanced up and froze. The man who'd been haunting her sleep looked even better in the hard light of day.
"H-hello." She coughed. The guys who worked at Webster's Garage all looked larger than life, covered in tattoos, muscles, and that indefinable sense of danger they wore like a second skin. But this guy, the tall, Latin lover with dark-brown eyes and lips made for kissing, who had snared her.

I have not read any of the previous books in this series, but never felt that I was lost on who the characters were.

There are a lot of characters in this book. I really liked how they helped move the story along without overpowering Lou and Joey's story.

Joey has been trying to atone to her parents for several years. She knows that she's been a disappointment, but she can't regret her decision. She loves her son and knows what's best for him. While she wants to do more with her life, she also wants to be practical and not expose her son to too much or too many people. When she finally lets herself feel for someone else, it's scary and lovely all wrapped into a yummy package known as Lou.

Lou has had his eye on Joey for a while. However, she was great at ducking him. He's surrounded by women in his life with all of his siblings, aunts, mom, and grandma. He knows how women work and knows what makes them feel special, and he just wants Joey to smile. He is also somewhat shy about his own upbringing, as his mom didn't make the best choices.

When love is on the line, can Joey and Lou stick it out? Or will they let their family dictate their choices? I enjoyed their story a lot but felt that there was a lot of Joey's story that was left unresolved – especially with her parents. It was just glossed over. However, this was enjoyable, and Lou's family was laugh worthy almost every time.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the fourth book in the series, and is a really good addition to it. I found it necessary to disappear throughout the day to get it finished, and will be super tired in the morning – but wow it was worth it! (It took my brain an age to get used to Lou being male and Joey female, which made for some amusing mistakes as I was reading.)

Lou is a stand-up guy who has never felt the need to settle down, but Joey has somehow caught his attention and he cannot shake her from his mind. As they slowly get to know each other, Joey has to decide just how much she can trust him. At times I felt that it was even slower than necessary, but I loved the story, from Lou's crazy family, to Brandon and his amazing manners and love of soccer.

It was a very satisfying read, and I loved catching up with previous couples we have gotten to know. I think though, that Lou and Joey are my favourites so far.

Lee’Anne☆☆
I just wasn't a huge fan of the pace of this book. It had a great start that got me into the book but by about the fifth chapter I was skimming and waiting for some action other than the two main characters having sex.

Joey is a single mom who has parents who won't let her forget she got pregnant at 15 and "ruined her life." Lou is an artist/mechanic who pretty much raised his many younger sisters and is adamant about never having children. Lou's been attracted to Joey since she was working with Del (from the previous book) on flowers for Del and Mike’s wedding. He's relentless in pursuing her and when Joey does finally relent, she doesn't mention her 9-year-old son. Things progress quickly between Joey and Lou without there ever being a mention of Brandon, her son, until things have gone past a comfortable point of filling Lou in. Plus, Brandon's father is coming back into the picture, so things start getting confusing for everyone pretty quickly.

I will say the "sexy" scenes were hot, the author did a fantastic job, I just wish there would have been more of the rest of the storyline. Honestly, the way that most of the characters are described it was almost depressing. Lou's mom is made out to be a whore, Joey’s parents are nasty people who put their daughter down and treat her like she owes them the world, and Felix, Joey’s baby-daddy, is described as this horrible person from the beginning. When Felix shows up wanting to get to know his son, Joey is horrible to him. As I write this review I realize my biggest issue with this book is probably that I didn't like Joey, the heroine, at all. She lies to Lou, doesn't have a backbone with her parents until she comes into money, and is horrible to Felix when he tries to make amends. Hopefully the next book in this series will be better.

Soon they're sparring both in and out of the gym. And for the first time in a long time, each is looking forward to tomorrow.

This book has a lot going on, both with the current and backstory. Gavin and Zoe are having trouble dealing with the past, the grief that it brings, and learning how to live with a piece of themselves missing.

They flirt and flit around each other, with Gavin taking the role of pursuer. Zoe likes Gavin, but doesn't know how to act in this new reality without her sister.

A good book, slow at times, but all in all, a nice read.

Avid Reader☆☆☆

Triggers: Death

This is the first book in this series that I've read. Zoe is struggling in life. She has an aunt who adores her and she adores, but all in all, Zoe is on her own. With the sudden death of her twin, Zoe finds herself floundering. She was always the twin that followed the rules, stayed the course. Her twin was the wild child and flowed with the wind. Zoe signs up for a self-defense class and takes a leap with the instructor, Gavin.

Gavin is intrigued by the woman who keeps turning him down. He is a good looking man who normally doesn't need to work so hard for a date. However, he sees a kindred spirit in Zoe – someone who also knows loss. He simply wants to make her smile.

When Zoe finally agrees to go on a date with Gavin, he's kind of at a loss. What follows is a very sweet date, some rumbling on the mat at the gym, and a relationship blooms. While I enjoyed the story enough, it seemed that there was a lot of slow times too and I think that this story would have been just as compelling without some of the filler.

I do really hope that I get to see what happens in book three, as Hope is very intriguing.

Lee’Anne☆☆☆☆
It didn’t take very many pages in to this book for me to become completely obsessed. I read the entire book in one sitting, it’s fantastic! It’s also the first book in the series that I’ve read and fine to be read as a standalone.

Gavin Donnigan was discharged from the Marine Corps after his team was involved in an explosion in which he was the only survivor. It’s made adjusting to life as a civilian very difficult and though he’s trying to get help, the nightmares and panic attacks are still hindering his life. Then you have Zoe York who is dealing with a loss of her own; her twin sister was killed in a car accident and coping with the loss has been nearly impossible for her. Though it takes a while for Zoe to realize that Gavin is serious in his pursuit of her, once they get together things progress quickly and the two become inseparable.

I love how Zoe and Gavin heal one another from the pain of their losses, it makes for a great page turner! I also absolutely love the Donnigan prank wars that go down – they’re laugh-out-loud funny and I hope they continue throughout the series.

Mary☆☆☆☆
Sam Hamilton is a bad boy, or that is what he appears to be to the outside world. But his best friend, Foley, and Foley's mom are his family and have been there for him for most of 10 years. While Sam's birth mother, Louise, only causes him pain, Sam fights to take the anger and pain away.

Ivy Stephens is a good girl that has had her share of bad boyfriends. She put her way through massage therapy school and is part owner in a business. Still, her family doesn't care that she even exists.

When Sam and Ivy meet looking for a stray puppy, the sparks fly between them. While Ivy is cautious about rushing into a relationship, Sam wants more of what he has never had before and he wants it with Ivy. They spend time together with Cookie, the puppy, and it just makes them want to be together even more.

Can Ivy date Sam without rushing in too fast? Will Sam let Louise ruin what is beginning with Ivy? Will Foley and his mom approve of Ivy dating Sam? What happens when Ivy learns about Sam's past?

This is the third book in this series and I am loving it and can't wait for the next one. It is about Sam and Foley's mechanic buddy, Lou, and the only woman that hasn't swooned at Lou's feet.

Lee’Anne☆☆☆
Sam Hamilton is a mechanic with a rocky past and though he looks and sometimes acts like an alpha bad boy, he’s definitely a sweet teddy bear deep down. Sam helps Willie, an elderly and hilarious woman, save stray animals and when a little puppy doesn’t seem to want to stay in one place, it leads Sam to Ivy Stephens’ door. Ivy is a massage therapist who has just gotten out of a rocky relationship. Though the two are attracted to one another, Ivy isn’t willing to get into another relationship. Then the two decide to “split custody” of the stray pup and things begin to heat up.

I didn’t much care for Ivy’s character and I think that’s been the strongest factor in my 3-star rating. The writing is good, however, the pace just isn’t there. Especially when scenes from previous characters are thrown in, this is the first book in the series that I’ve read and I think that had I read the previous books this wouldn’t have been so confusing. My favorite part of this book was Willie, each scene that has her in it had me cracking up – she definitely makes this a story worth reading.

Roadside Assistance by Marie Harte

Underneath the axle grease and tats
He's a gentleman

Foley Sanders figured he'll always be content with a life of cars and casual hookups. Until a run-in with Cyn, a statuesque firecracker with a hate-on for men, leaves him bewitched and intrigued-much to her annoyance.

Maybe Cynthia Nichols was a little hard on Foley, that muscular, tattooed, super-hot mechanic next door. But she's tired of feeling defensive about her size and has sworn off men. She's got a new job, new life, perfect plan. Foley has trouble written all over him-no way is she going to fall for his charms.

Foley might look like a bad idea, but underneath, he's all gentleman. Too bad Cyn's not buying it. What's a bad boy to do when the goddess of his dreams won't give him the time of day?

Just looking at Foley Sanders and you will want to run away until you look closer. He is a mechanic and is covered in tattoos and looks the part of a bad boy. But under all of that, he has a big heart and is looking for the right girl. He just doesn't know it yet. He is loyal to his friends and will protect those he loves.

Cyn Nichols has moved back home to help her brother, Matt, with the coffee shop and look into opening a few more. When she goes to the nearby auto shop to talk to them about taking over the parking spaces in front of the coffee shop, she encounters Foley. She is not intimidated by his tats and bad boy image. She actually finds herself attracted to him. But after her last disaster of a relationship, she has sworn off men for a while.

Will Cyn give Foley a chance and go out with him? Will her insecurities get in the way of a perfect relationship for both Cyn and Foley?

I liked book one, it was an okay story, but I loved Foley and his story had me laughing and crying. I can't wait for book three to see what happens with Sam.
