Test Drive by Marie Harte

GET TO KNOW THE BODY SHOP BAD BOYS

Johnny, Foley, Sam, and Lou are the rough and tumble mechanics of Webster's Garage. These reformed bad boys are used to living fast, but it's the women in their lives who take them from zero to sixty in a heartbeat.

JOHNNY

Johnny Devlin's a charmer with a checkered past. He's has had his eye on scorching-hot bartender Lara Valley for ages, but she's rejected him more than once. That doesn't mean he won't come to her aid when some dirtbag mauls her. When she asks him on a date as a no-strings-attached thank you, he can't say no. And then he's saying nothing but hell, yes.

Lee’Anne☆☆☆☆
Johnny works at a garage with a group of his best friends, they’re all pretty close and always messing with one another as boys do. Johnny is known for his charm when it comes to women, but the one woman who he’s wanted for years seems to be immune to his charm. Lara Valley is a bartender and a student, she’s worked her butt off to get where she is and isn’t willing to get played, which is why she’s resisted Johnny for so long. When he’s finally able to convince her to give it a go, the chemistry between the two is off the charts.

I absolutely loved the camaraderie between Johnny and the guys at the garage. I didn’t like that it took what felt like foooorever for Johnny and Lara to get together, I did a lot of skimming in the middle leading up to them finally getting together. I do appreciate the detail the author gave to their love story, but at the same time it was just too much. The book did keep me laughing almost beginning to end though, so it’s still earning a solid 4 stars and I look forward to reading more from this series!

Johnny Devlin works at an auto repair shop and he is a ladies’ man. He doesn't do relationships; you could call him the king of one night stands. Lara Valley works at Ray's bar at night and goes to nursing school during the day. She wants a better life than what her parents are living. She doesn't have time for a man. Johnny noticed Lara the first time he saw her and has been asking her out for over four years and she keeps turning him down. Things happen and she begins to see a different side to him and decides to give him a chance. Can they make a go of a relationship or will the past ruin it? Will Lara push him away when she sees how he really is?

This is a first for me from this author and I was looking for a little more storyline. It was a good story, just seemed like something was missing. I did like how all of their friends were included in the story. I can't wait for more in this series to see where it will go.

I really liked the idea for this book, however sadly for me it was just too slow and took a bit too long to get into the actual story.

The book is about Johnny and Lara. He is a player who decides she is the woman for him. She just wants to better herself from the life her parents and sister live.

We got to know all the characters pretty well, which was great.

I really wanted to like this book, but sadly, it just didn't do it for me.

This book had a solid plot and characters but, for me, it seemed to drag on and on. The sub-plot with Lara's sister and kids, for me, did little to advance the story other than to provide Johnny a way to show Lara that he was a standup guy.

This book took me a while to read as I found myself picking it up and putting it down again and again before making a concentrated effort to finish.
