RIVEN
I’ve never been great at letting people in. Life is easier if I bury my
feelings. People tend to let you down, which is only proven when my best
friend, Rex, accidentally kills a man and lets me take the fall.
When I get out of prison, the last thing I want is to go back to Clayton,
Oregon, but it’s where my grandma lives, the only person who’s always had my
back. My plan is to stay out of trouble, steer clear of my old crew, save up,
and the second we can, leave town for good.
PARRISH
I want nothing to do with my family and their illegal activities. With Riven
back, I worry things will get worse. He and Rex have always brought out the
worst in each other, but then I discover Riven went to prison for something my
brother did, and my family isn’t happy to have him home.
Riven wants nothing to do with me, and I don’t blame him. But like a moth to
the flame, I’m drawn to him. It starts out as mutual lust, Riven sating the
pleasure he craves, while I get to fulfill my first-crush fantasies. But with
every moment, I see there’s more to Riv than anyone knows.
Not everyone would see him as a good man, but to me, he’s the boy who used to
try to keep my family’s lifestyle from becoming mine.
And now he’s the man who risked his heart to fall in love with me… and the one
who’d risk more to protect me.
Risk the Fall is an ex-best friend’s brother romance that contains
violence, drug use, crime, and death of a non-main character.

Risk the Fall wasn't what I was expecting but it was everything I
needed. I was so completely invested in Riven and Parrish. I was on an
emotional rollercoaster, and it was so good.
Riven did his time in prison for something he didn't do but took the blame for
anyway. Now that he's out, he wants nothing to do with the people who took
those last six years from him. But when he starts his construction job, the man
leading the crew is none other than Parrish, the brother and son of the men he
took the fall for. Not wanting to lose his job and put his parole at risk,
Riven just wants to put his head down and do his work but something about
Parrish has Riven dropping the walls around him to let the man in.
Risk the Fall is such a gritty, raw read. My heart broke for Riven and I
found myself so emotional over these characters.

This is quite a gritty read, and it took me a while to establish a strong
connection with Riven, but by the end I was shedding tears on his behalf! I
could see this book as a film, or part of a TV series – it is harsh, rough, and
until we meet Parrish, it is difficult to see many redeeming features in Riven.
He is, however, unable to deny the care and respect that Parrish shows him, and
even more once he finds out the truth.
If you like your stories real and tough, then this will definitely fit the
bill. It deals with some difficult issues and provides plenty of angst to the
reader – alongside a really rather wonderful love story.
Thank you, Riley Hart, for pushing my boundaries and giving me a really good
read!

HART’s love of all things romance shines brightly in everything she writes. Her
primary focus is Male/Male romance but under various pen names, her prose has
touched practically every part of the spectrum of love and relationships. The
common theme that ties them all together is stories told from the heart.
A hopeless romantic herself, Riley is a lover of character-driven plots, many
with flawed and relatable characters. She strives to create stories that
readers can not only fall in love with, but also see themselves in. Real
characters and real love blended together equal the ultimate Riley Hart
experience.
When Riley isn’t creating her next story, you can find her reading, traveling,
or dreaming about reading or traveling, spending time with her two snarky kids,
and swoony husband.
