I love my life—the thrill of being on the ice as part of the Arizona Vengeance, the rush of winning, the adoration of the fans. And if that adoration means I don’t have to spend the night alone, well even better. I’m content being single and always ready to mingle.

But the day Emory Holland walks into a Vengeance team meeting my attention is caught like never before. I can tell right away she’s full of smarts and sass, and the fact that she’s hot as hell sure doesn’t hurt either. She immediately shuts down my advances, so I opt for the road less traveled—straight to the friend zone.

My approach works like a charm, and when she invites me into her bed for a no-strings, friends-with-benefits arrangement, I vow to give her everything I have. She’s been hurt before, and if I’m able to help her heal while giving her a spectacularly satisfying time *pats self on back*, then I’ll be happy.

Or at least that’s the lie I keep telling myself as the time ticks down on the final buzzer of our “relationship.” Now the real question is, can I score the winning goal in a game neither of us realized we were playing?

This series gets better and better with each book and with this one we meet Jett Olsson. Jett is happy with his life, playing on the championship team and enjoying the single life. Until Emory Holland walks into a team meeting. All he can think about is getting her to go out with him. All she wants is to do her job.

Jett finally gets Emory to agree to go out with him, but it is a work dinner, so she can help him with his Instagram account. When he picks her up at her house, he finds out that she has a daughter. That is something Jett is not interested in; he doesn't want kids and doesn't want to date anyone with kids. Jett can't stop thinking about Emory and her daughter, Felicity. They seemed to have made their way into his heart, he wants to spend time with them both.

Does Jett want to make a future with Emory and Felicity? Will Emory give a relationship with Jett a chance?

I have my favorites in this series but this one is close to the top. If you are looking for hot hockey men, with the women who tame them, then this series is for you. Each book can be read as a standalone but you’ll want to read them all – you do not want to miss a thing in this series.


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the tenth book in the series, and it is just like rejoining a group of friends and enjoying the next player finding his happily ever after. This time it is Jett's turn to find out that falling in love really is a good thing – and he has plenty of teammates to show him how true that is.

Emory is in charge of social media at Arizona Vengeance. She takes her job very seriously and her concentration is on working hard and bringing up her daughter. She lives with her sister, who works from home and can help with childcare. There is definitely not time for romance – let alone interest after the disappointment of her life with her ex-husband.

So when Jett repeatedly expresses his interest in taking her out, she finds it easy to say no. Until... she has to admit that his persistence is quite appealing, and he even likes her little girl. I loved when he first finds out that she has a child – he realises that he should be recoiling in horror, and yet, he likes Emory so much, that he just finds himself okay with it. It is these little touches which Bennett uses with great effect to get over big messages in her stories, I really appreciate that as I am reading.

Again, we get to enjoy catching up with previous couples, and Nora helps, as Emory gives her daughter a chance to enjoy some horse-riding and chat with Nora and her team.

A sweet, sexy, and fun read – highly recommended!

Emory is getting her hockey legs on the job. She loves what she does and knows that she’s very lucky to do something she loves. When she has to teach a somewhat flirtatious player, Jett, all about using Instagram, she knows that she’ll have to make sure to be all business.

Jett isn’t deterred by Emory’s standoffish stance. He knows that sometimes women like to delineate between work and fun. When he convinces Emory to go to dinner with him “for business,” Jett thinks he’s broken through her tough exterior.

What neither expect is a connection that can be brought on only through friendship. Once it’s clear that Emory isn’t up for dating, Jett changes his mindset about her and becomes her friend.

I really enjoyed watching these two find their way. Both were able to change their feelings about dating, love, and friendship. It’s not quite a coming of age story but has a similar feel.

I have really enjoyed these books in this series and know that you would love them too!
