He Sees You When You're Sleeping is a darker take on a Christmas. It's a
super quick read, but it really is filled with so much emotion. Kris has done a
horrible thing in his past and is made to walk the earth, protecting children
and bringing presents on Christmas Eve to those that believe. The number of
those who believe in Christmas and Santa drop drastically year after year, so
Kris is met with a lonely existence. He meets Jack when he is ten, in an
abusive foster home. Kris knows he needs to protect him and does repeatedly for
years. When he starts to care for the man he met twenty-five years prior,
things change.
I enjoyed seeing this take on Christmas and Santa. Even though it's a novella,
you can connect with the characters instantly. I wondered where the author
would take me with this read, but was pleasantly surprised at the ending.
Highly recommend this super-quick darker read!!
