The Christmas Oaks by V.L. Locey Blog Tour

Can the magic of Christmas, and the soft voice of a man who has seen too much, show Bryan a future where anything is possible?

Bryan Graham is shocked to find he’s inherited a hunting cabin in north-central Pennsylvania. From his grandfather of all people; a stubborn man who went out of his way to make Bryan’s childhood miserable. He’d vowed never to go back to the small, rural community of Kutter’s Summit, not that he didn’t have fond memories of the place. It’s just that he’d rather be celebrating a quiet Christmas back in Nashville with his cat and his contracts.

A couple of weeks of hunting, cleaning, and handyman work, and he can hopefully put the place up for sale and move on with his life. He never expected to find his childhood friend Parson Greer living in the cabin. Parson is no longer a boy, but a handsome, wary man consumed by the demons of a faraway desert war. When a rekindled friendship shifts into something deeper, Bryan finds himself lost in emotions that a workaholic like him has never made time to experience before.

Ugh… this one pulled at my heartstrings, not sure why. Bryan and Parson worked their way into my heart right away. Man, this book just made me feel. I don’t want to give anything away because I really think you need to read the story to enjoy it fully. I laughed and I cried, and my heart just broke into pieces and mended back together again. Great holiday read by the fire on a nice snowy day, highly recommend.

This is the first in a new series and I will definitely be looking out for more. There are so many facets to this book, and really I am reluctant to reveal too much, as discovering the layers is part of the charm of the story.

It is a perfect Christmas time read, as it involves family, reconciliation, self-awareness, and a rediscovery of what is really important... oh, and there is a grumpy cat! Also, almost anywhere you find yourself this festive season, you will feel that you are in more comfortable digs than Bryan and Parson!

Definitely a book full of feelings and well worth a read – enjoy!

Bryan returns to his hometown in rural Pennsylvania after the death of his grandfather. A grandfather who disowned him when he came out. The same grandfather who has left him a large parcel of land and a hunting cabin in his will.

On arrival at the cabin, Bryan discovers his old high school crush, Parson, living there. Parson is a veteran and is having trouble adjusting to life post service. The romance the develops between Parson and Bryan is sweet and understated. I really enjoyed spending time with them at the cabin because living without plumbing, electricity, and in freezing, snowy weather is not something I’ve ever experienced. I found reading about it really peaceful and bit fun.

This is a story about two men finding love who each have troubles in their past that are affecting them years down the track. We learn that Bryan actually has lots of great memories about his grandfather and it is heartbreaking to see how poorly he was treated when he came out, but it shows that people are complicated and nobody is all good or all bad.

The Christmas Oaks is a lovely Christmas romance and it helped me get into the Christmas spirit.

(Not necessarily in that order.) She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, one dog, two cats, a pair of geese, far too many chickens, and two steers.

When not writing spicy romances, she enjoys spending her day with her menagerie in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with a cup of fresh java in one hand and a steamy romance novel in the other.
