Lies by Kylie Scott Blog Tour

Betty Dawsey knows that breaking things off with Thom Lange is for the best. He’s nice, but boring, and their relationship has lost its spark. But steady and predictable Thom, suddenly doesn’t seem so steady and predictable when their condo explodes and she’s kidnapped by a couple of crazies claiming that Thom isn’t who he says he is.

Thom is having a hellish week. Not only is he hunting a double agent, but his fiancé dumped him, and thanks to his undercover life, she’s been kidnapped.

Turns out Thom is Operative Thom and he’s got more than a few secrets to share with Betty if he’s going to keep her alive. With both their lives on the line, their lackluster connection is suddenly replaced by an intense one. But in his line of work, feelings aren’t wanted or desired. Because feelings can be a lethal distraction.

So we start with Betty packing her stuff to leave her fiancé Thom. While taking boxes to the car, her house explodes and from there things really take off. It isn’t long before Betty learns Thom is not the boring insurance adjustor he was claiming to be.

I had an absolute blast reading Lies. I barely made it ten pages into the book before I wanted to start talking about it and telling people to read it. Unfortunately for me, I was sitting in a quiet doctor’s office, so I had to contain my excitement.

Betty and Thom are an awesome couple. Betty is a good, average, everyday girl. Easy to relate to and she is strong and stands up for herself. At my first glimpse of Thom, I thought he was going to be just this big alpha like we’ve all read before, but he is so much more. He really is quite adorable and completely loveable and some alpha too.

Lies is a fun, fast-paced romance with plenty of action and I totally loved it! I can’t wait for the audiobook version to come out because I know this is going to be a story that I read and listen to again and again.

I really enjoyed this book – and do hope that there is more to come, and soon, as there is a lot that I still want to know! Let alone a number of singletons who could do with a chance at love, whatever their crazy job entails!

This is a fun book from beginning to end, with plenty of twists and turns and some great humour alongside the danger and the madness. Thom is in so much trouble for how he has deceived Betty, yet as time goes on, we are hard pressed not to believe that he really does care. His logic behind some of his boyfriend/fiancé behaviours is hilarious, and lucky for both him and Betty, he does get a chance to prove his worth – in and out of the bedroom!

A very enjoyable way to tell a love story!

M/F Thriller, Romance

Betty is leaving her almost husband. She's had enough. His job has come before their relationship the entire time and it's just beginning to dawn on her what her married life would be like. She is just done. However, in the process of packing up her belongings, her stuff literally is gone in a second...

With Betty not understanding what's going on, people trying to get to her, and Thom all of a sudden being a completely different man, Betty isn't sure what to make of her situation.

Thom... hmmm, where to even begin. Thom read all about what a normal relationship should be. He did his due diligence and mapped his relationship out to a T. What he didn't expect was for his map to be so incomplete.

With his fiancée’s life on the line and not knowing who to trust, Thom will risk it all to make sure that Betty is safe. But can he repair the damage he's caused? Will Betty be able to look past their mediocre relationship and see who Thom truly is?

It was a great book with a lot of action and I really hope we get to see more from these characters.

5 Stars if you don't stop and smell the flowers
3 Stars if you pause for two seconds to think of the logistics
4 Stars in total.

Lies hooked me from word one, where I read half the novel in one sitting. Life happened. I planned on reading the rest in one sitting. However, the last half took me three days to complete, none of which had to do with life interrupting. It's not that I wasn't entertained, but the flaws started to reveal themselves, and my desire to continue forth waned.

My best advice, read the novel in one sitting. Chart out a few hours of uninterrupted reading and do a cover-to-cover session. If you don't put the novel down, you can't ruminate about the content. Read just as the novel flows, fast and without taking a deep breath. Otherwise, the entertainment value will drop just as quickly.

To maintain the spoiler-free review, I can't comment on the plot too much. Betty is in the process of breaking up with her fiancé at the start of the novel. I enjoyed this portion, even if Betty's thought process was so rapid, no real emotions were able to bleed through.

After the start, it was one explosion, rapid gunfire, death-defying event after another, without a deep breath taken in between. Betty learns her boring fiancé is not who she believed him to be.

Lies is hyper-fast-paced, action-packed, reminiscent of an action flick.

Same as with those movies (we all love them), if you stop and think about the plot, you'll realize what little plot there may be is littered with plot holes, or not much plot to speak of at all. The emotions only ride the surface. The actions/reactions aren't dictated by human nature but to simply push toward the next scene. All twists and turns can be seen from a mile away.

It's fun and entertaining but not meant to be taken seriously.

Kudos for writing a plus-sized heroine.

Lies is a quick read. I completed it in one sitting.

Betty Dawsey thinks the time has run out on her relationship with her fiancé, Thom Lange. The spark is gone, and everything is predictable and mundane. She wants excitement, spontaneity, and good sex. Just has she's packing up all of her things to move out something happens that shows her not everything is as it appears.

I was sucked in from page one and the twists and turns kept me flying through the pages. I'm not sure if I've ever read a book like this one but I can say it was very entertaining.
