The Painters by Robin Stone

They gave her a week. She gave them her heart.

Rachel has dated since her divorce, but she's bored with men who act too polite in bed. She's dying for the kind of sex that can set her body aflame. Two gorgeous painters in her office fill her mind with fantasies she'd never act on. Or would she?

When the men proposition Rachel, she says yes...but only for a week. Ben and Alex heat up Rachel's bed and show her how to take charge of her pleasure. Rachel develops feelings for the painters, and she thinks they feel the same. But when the week ends, can Rachel convince Alex and Ben to think of her as more than just a booty call?

The Painters is a 30,000 word standalone MMF novella with a happily ever after.

This is a very enjoyable short read, which should definitely raise your temperature and speed up your heart rate. It is written over just a few weeks, but the pace is perfect.

There are some really lovely little scenes which show great humour, and some which are very sensitively written. But mostly it is just super hot and the thought that it has a future makes it even more pleasing. The men are very different, but both hot and keen to share their pleasure with Rachel.

Sometimes a short story which gives just enough hope of more is all that you need!

This may be a short story, but it is definitely a firecracker.

Rachel is divorced, single, and has no children living at home. Lonely, but it is a great opportunity to have a bit of fun.

Alex and Ben know what they like, and sexy redhead Rachel is definitely in their sights.

They have a naughty proposition for her, but when is fun, too much fun? And what if it can lead to more?

This was an entertaining and easy read for me. Sexy, humorous, and something a bit different, which is just what I was looking for.

My review will be blunt and to the point. My rating is based on what The Painters is, not what I wish it to be. When it comes to short novellas, you will often see in reviews how the reader wished the book was longer, more involved, a bigger plot, but that is not what was intended. When you read an erotic piece, you will see in reviews how the reader wished it wasn't a sex-fest, wasn't so redundant in the scenes, and had a plot.

The Painters features a repressed 40-something divorcee with an adult daughter in college as our sole narrator. Rachel's an assistant, with a professional demeanor. After marrying young, finding no satisfaction in her marriage, she's now checking items off her sexual bucket list. Her family and friends don't know what Rachel does in her spare time, thinking her quintessentially a middle-aged mother.

Ben and Alex are painters, working for a week in Rachel's office, and they see what's lying beneath the surface – a MILF. The 30-something and 20-something bisexual lovers are looking for a third in their relationship, someone as adventurous as they are.

The Painters is 80%+ sex-fest, strung together by less than 20% dialogue and storyline tying it together, which is exactly what is was meant to be. Obviously fast-paced, the story takes place over a week, with likable characters.

My rating is based on the fact that I found the sexy time to be wooden – bit of a Peg A fitting in Slot B situation, where the scenes are rapid, encompassing only a page or two without much detailing. I also had trouble – and this is on me – remembering which Alex and Ben were in regards to the 26 year-old vs the 35 year-old. Every time I thought I had a handle on who was what age, to fit their personality I'd attached to the age, I was wrong. So this created some confusion, as the scenes featured all three characters.

This was a steamy book, heavy on the flattery (how beautiful, gorgeous, tight, and wet Rachel is). Perfect for women who see themselves in the narrator. After the devastation of a divorce, where your self-esteem and self-image plummets, the fantasy of not only one hot, younger male wanting you, but two is a needed injection of lust. Heavy on the eroticism, it is very light on emotion and actual romance.

Recommended to readers who are looking for an hour of escapism guaranteed to leave you hot and bothered, featuring ménage – MMF.

I write about sexy handyman heroes who work with their hands and the women who lust after them. My imagination is filled with delivery men, landscapers, and carpenters. Don't worry, ladies, there's enough to go around!

I live near Boston and like reading, travel, and eating good chocolate. I love hearing from my readers.
