A Dance with Domination by K.C. Wells in Collars & Cuffs Vol. 1

Recently returned to the UK after living in the States since he was eleven, Andrew Barrett is determined to keep busy and make a new life for himself. He works full time as a copywriter and strips at a club on Canal Street on weekends. But it still leaves him too much time to think. Then he finds the BDSM club, Collars & Cuffs, where at twenty-nine, he is their youngest Dom. Young doesn’t mean inexperienced, however. All this activity keeps him focused with no time to dwell on the past. But the past has a way of intruding on the present.

It’s been four long years since Gareth Michaels last set foot inside Collars & Cuffs. But when he finally summons his courage and steps back into his former world, he finds the man who drove him away is still a member, and what's more, he wants Gareth back. Two men in pain need the freedom they find in each other, but it takes another man’s horrific plans to make them see it.

Veronica☆☆☆☆
Well Andrew is definitely a dom with a difference. He works an office job by day, but twice a week he works as a stripper at a gay club. Again the author has written about a Dom and made him feel like a regular guy, down to earth. Gareth also works at the strip club and he and Andrew become friends. There is a strong attraction between the pair even before Gareth learns that Andrew is a Dom at Collars & Cuffs, a club where Gareth was once a member.

Gareth may be a submissive but he is a strong guy and won't settle for being second best. Andrew is struggling after a trauma in his past and I liked seeing the vulnerability in the Dom.

This genre is fast becoming my guilty pleasure. A Dance with Domination left me all warm and happy and I love that this is only book four in the series. At present there are eight books in total and I'm going to read every one of them.

This is the fourth in the series and one of my favourites I think. I would highly recommend that you read them in order, as previous couples feature in these books, and there are lessons learned that are passed on, and make the experience richer. I will assume you have in my review.

Early on, when Andrew arrives at Cuffs & Collars and scenes with Dorian, I was worried – given that sub is not exactly anyone's good books since recent episodes in earlier installments. But the story takes a different turn, which was a relief! One of the things that is unusual and rather fun about this story is that Andrew has a second job as a pole dancer/stripper. It seems an unlikely role, but he clearly separates his life out for the most part. His fellow dancer, Darius, aka Gareth definitely garners his attention, but previous hurts are still at the forefront of his mind. As it turns out Gareth isn't exactly pain free, but can both of them put their pasts behind them? As in previous books, the rest of the C&C family cannot help but get involved. It also gives the loyal reader some further insights into previous relationships, which is great.

I thought the discussion between Andrew and his boss, Lorraine, was thought-provoking and interesting – I had been thinking about just how different things were myself, so it was a timely conversation – and I will read on with interest to see if any more comes of their talk.

This is a lovely story, which rights some wrongs, and helps two heartsore men connect with their future, rather than live in the past. Looking forward to seeing developments in the next book.

I've always written, right from an early age. I was always writing stories as a child, and as I grew up, I had the idea of writing a novel, like so many people do. Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C. Wells always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way. K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, where the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings—writing about men in love was even hotter... K.C. now writes full time and is loving every minute of her new career. The laptop still has no idea of what hit it... it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.
