Naughty & Nice by DJ Jamison Release Blitz

Naughty & Nice by DJ Jamison Release Blitz

Why can't I forget your kiss...

Dear Quinn,

Why must I have these feelings for you? You're my ex-stepbrother, and nothing will change that truth, no matter how many letters I write.

I never expected to see you again—or to rescue you from the side of the road in a blizzard. I didn't think you would ever like me, much less kiss me in a steaming hot tub on a snowy night. It seems we make better lovers than brothers, which is all kinds of naughty and nice while we're snowed in together.

But can this new intimacy last when the skies clear and my family finally arrives for the holidays, or are we just two guys in a mountain cabin with a great view of everything we want but can't have?

Hopelessly yours,
Jonas

“So, this is the hot tub,” I said, apropos of nothing.

“Yep,” he said, grinning. “Nothing gets by you.”

“I’m very observant that way,” I said, nodding seriously. I looked around as if taking in my surroundings, and when I got back to Jonas, I looked at him boldly, straight-on, my gaze skimming from his lips to his shoulders to his nipples, visible just above the water line.

He cleared his throat. “I’m starting to notice that.”

I wasn’t being subtle.

I’d angled for this to happen. To be in this hot tub with Jonas. I’d told him I wanted to soak away the cold in my bones, and that wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t entirely true either. I’d wanted to get closer to him. Wanted to feel another flash of the heat I was sure I’d seen in his eyes at dinner. Maybe it was an anomaly, and we’d have a soak and move on with our lives. Or maybe…

Maybe it’d combust, given the right circumstances.

To my frustration, Jonas’s phone chimed with a message. He looked away to pick it up. I watched as his lips quirked into a smile while he tapped out a response. He’d gotten a couple of these texts in the car too, tonight. It wasn’t like before, when he was avoiding messages. This was someone else.

“Who’s texting you?”

He glanced up, then irritatingly right back down to the phone. “No one important.”

I huffed. “They have a lot of your attention.” My stomach tightened. “Is it a hookup?”

Jonas didn’t answer immediately, and every second wound my insides a little bit tighter. If Jonas had someone in his life—or more than one, as his busy phone led me to believe—I wouldn’t be surprised. Why wouldn’t someone want him? He was effortlessly gorgeous; I’d seen him roll out of bed and ruffle his hair with his hand and look fabulous. That was it; his whole morning routine. And there I was in front of the mirror, trying to tame flyaway hairs and choosing my clothing with care. He was smart and self-reliant too. He didn’t bail on school or his future just because he was in a messy relationship. He dealt with life. Guys like him were never alone.

I edged closer, our legs brushing underwater. “Is it someone you’re serious about?”

“Nah, I don’t do serious.”

“Why not?”

His eyes met mine and held. “Tried it once. It didn’t suit me.”

I suspected he meant me, even though that didn’t make any sense. We’d never had a relationship. We’d had one brief kiss, and that was it. Surely he hadn’t been serious about his stepbrother with a bad attitude? I must be reading too much into that look…

“So, you’re texting with a non-serious hookup?”

He set the phone aside, lips quirking. “A potential hookup. Guy lives near here—”

I slapped my hand onto the surface of the water. “Oh, hell no!”

He laughed a little in disbelief. “What?”

Something came over me. All the tension that had stretched between us, all my restraint, snapped.

“No,” I repeated. “No hookups with other guys while you’re here.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Other guys?”

I was busted. He saw right through me, to the jealousy I had no right to have. I sucked in my bottom lip, tasting the faint tang of chlorine from the water droplets that had misted my face.

“Go on, Quinn. If you’ve got something to say about my sex life, I’m all ears.”

My face flushed hot. Words of apology were on the tip of my tongue. It wasn’t my place; it was none of my business.

Unless I made it my business.

Pulse speeding up, I turned toward him. “I’ve got nothing to say.”

“No? Because it seemed—”

I pushed forward in a rush, letting my mouth do the talking. Our lips pressed, clung. Jonas’s breath caught as I licked his bottom lip. Then, as if I’d hit fast-forward on a video, he was all in. His hand clamped around the back of my neck, pulling me hard against him as he deepened the kiss. My blood leapt with the thrill of lust and adrenaline as his tongue slid along mine, tasting and teasing. Jonas was a skilled kisser, advancing and retreating, giving me just enough to want more, then changing tactics to wind me up all over again.

The kiss went on forever. One kiss blended into the next. We sipped air as we repositioned our mouths, kissing one direction, then the other.

I was burning up in the steamy water, and yet I was shivering as cold winter air brushed over my neck and shoulders.

Jonas grabbed my hips, dragging me into his lap. I felt how hard he was, and ground down against him until he groaned satisfyingly against my mouth.

“Fuck, baby.”

“No.” I finally pulled back to look into his eyes. “I’m not baby, or honey, or any other thing you call your hookups. I’m Quinn.”

His voice was husky but soft as he responded. “Quinn.”

I shivered to hear my name in that sexy, velvet tone.

“You sure you want to do this with me?” he asked. “I know we’re not related by blood, but…”

Was I sure it was a good idea? No. But did I want it? Desperately.

“We’re not brothers.”

In the moonlight, his skin glowed a little. It made him seem magical, and in that moment I could believe he was. He was my own naughty prince sent to teach me the ways of true pleasure.

Shannan – ☆☆☆☆
Naughty & Nice is a quick, sexy holiday read.

Quinn's father died when he was younger. When his mother remarried, Quinn was in such a depression over losing his father he made no attempt to get to know his new stepfamily. Quinn really didn't go out of his way to be friends with his stepbrother, Jonas. Jonas was handsomely annoying. After Quinn shared a memory of his dad with Jonas, he wasn't expecting the kiss that came with it. After that moment, they went their separate ways and didn't think they'd see each other again.

Jonas wasn't expecting to see Quinn over the Christmas break. Getting Quinn all to himself while snowed in? He especially wasn't expecting that.

The inner dialogue was excessive at points, but I enjoyed the read otherwise. Jonas’ slight obsession with Quinn was cute. I enjoyed how, because of his last relationship, he wants to be independent. Jonas sees this and even though he wants to take care of him, he knows he needs to go at Quinn's pace. Overall, quick holiday read!

Ruthie – ☆☆☆
3.5 stars of snowy sexiness

There is an awful lot that I enjoyed about this book – it just took a while to get to that point, and there was a lot of inner voice, and thinking not doing, which I found frustrating. I completely understood the need to give us the men's views, but I felt we learned far more from Jonas's letters than we did from his inner thoughts. The letters were lovely, and were used to great effect.

They were really interesting characters, and watching Quinn understand that he did have support – and that Clay had really taken advantage of his vulnerability – was really quite moving. He deserved happiness, and Jonas most definitely wanted to give him all that he could. It was a fascinating mix of very sweet, cute, and hot, as well as dealing with some difficult issues in a sensitive and caring way.

It definitely gave me a Christmas vibe, and left me with a smile on my face, so thank you, D.J. Jamison, for a good read.

Shelby – ☆☆☆☆
This book was a departure from my normal. The blurb intrigued me, and I had to check this out.

Darrin is your typical young man. He harbors a secret love for his best friend Janie, he is an aspiring actor, and he is just down-to-earth. Nothing special or remarkable, just a normal guy. When he is offered a role in a new movie, of course he's excited... until he learns the method his character must follow for the role. He will get no accolades, his name won't even be listed in the cast of characters, but he will get the opportunity of a lifetime to play the role of a historically famous actor from decades before Darrin's time. This studio employs a face-changing machine, and their movies aren't actors playing the roles of characters... these actors are transformed to BE the actors they are portraying.

Not only are we following Darrin and Janie's journey, but we get to meet some classic actors such as Humphrey Bogart, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, and many others. While all of this is going on, there is also a mystery to solve. This technology has gotten into the wrong hands, and any evil that could come of it, has.

Overall this story was interesting, there are some slow moments but there was always something going on. I thought Darrin's romantic interest was going to be the main theme, and while it does occur throughout the story, I feel like it wasn't the main focus. I was invested in the characters, I was constantly trying to piece together the mystery, and I was always cheering for Darrin's success. I was pleasantly surprised by this story!

Excerpt

Standing, he held a hand out to the man who was so much his type it was almost laughable. Three or four inches taller than Mika’s own five-ten height, dark brown hair that shone red under the warehouse’s lights, like the deepest shade of mahogany, with charcoal-gray at the temples and above his ears, and lines that fanned out from narrow eyes a dark shade of blue. A high forehead in a heart-shaped face and the physique of a footballer completed the package.

All of that wouldn’t have been a big deal on its own, but the way he held himself with the cool confidence of someone who knew his place in the world?

Yowza. Talk about Mika’s type wrapped in a black wool coat and a stubbled jaw more gray than brown. He’d have been giving Jeff his number if the guy wasn’t scowling at him.

Wait, that scowl...

Jeff stared at his outstretched hand. “No.”

“Uh.” Rearing back, Mika dropped his arm back to his side. “Excuse me?”

Zach crept up behind him, gaze swinging from Mika to Jeff. “What’s wrong?”

Jeff waved a hand at Mika. “This is the guy you want me to work with?” He put special emphasis on this, as though Mika were a criminal who’d steal his wallet when he wasn’t looking. Straightening his spine, Mika planted his hands on his hips.

Zach blinked once. “Yes?”

Holland Stone—Zach’s boyfriend and Mika’s ex—approached from where he’d been working on his float for the parade, clad in a dusty T-shirt and even dustier jeans. He squinted at Jeff before turning to Zach and Mika. “You two okay?” He held a hammer in one hand like he meant to wield it. Not that he ever would, but the image would’ve made Mika chuckle had he not been so confused.

And frankly? Kind of hurt. What the hell had he ever done to this guy?

“I can’t work with him.” There was no give in Jeff’s tone.

“Why not?” Zach stepped in close to Mika, butting in against his left side. “Mika’s the best.”

Aw. The ire in Mika’s chest faded a little at Zach’s words. It was nice of him to say, especially since Mika had made the worst of first impressions on him last Christmas.

The amount of disgust in Jeff’s scoff would’ve been impressive had it not been directed at Mika. “I’m not working with the guy who totaled my dad’s car.”

Mika’s head jerked back. “What?”

Zach and Holland swung their gazes his way.

“I didn’t!” Taking a step back, he raised both hands. “I’ve never totaled anybody’s car in my life.”

“Oh no?” Jeff argued, raising both eyebrows, and god, the sarcasm. “Not even a turquoise 1956 Chevy Nomad near the Bluffs in Pacific Palisades? About this time last year? Ring any bells?”

That was where Mika knew this guy from! Jesus, he was still holding a grudge? “Okay, first of all, I apologized, like, seven times. Second, I gave you my number. It’s not my problem that you didn’t call. Like I said—I would’ve paid to get it fixed. And third.” Leaning over the desk, he narrowed his eyes on a squinty-eyed Jeff Bellmoor. “Totaled?”

Jeff winced. “Fine. That’s maybe the wrong word.” Uttered so begrudgingly, it was a miracle he managed to say the words at all. “But like I said—it’s not about the damage.”

A huff of exasperation escaped Mika and he threw his hands up. “I don’t know what that means.” He hadn’t known then either.

“Never mind.” Rubbing his forehead, Jeff turned away. “You wouldn’t understand.”

On pain of death, Mike would never admit that Jeff’s smile made his stomach flutter as though he was a teenager with a crush.

This is the second book in the series – the previous one I read back in 2018 when it was published, and I still remembered the fun of Zach and Holland and all the angst of Lighthouse Bay’s formal Christmas celebrations. I was, therefore, really happy to go back and join the team again. If you haven't read Christmas Lane, I would definitely recommend that you do – and you will meet Mika and understand a few things about him in advance of reading this lovely romance.

There are so many lovely things about this story that I think you will enjoy most of all if you read them fresh, so I am not going to say all that much about the story. However, I will happily tell you that Amy Aislin is really good at creating a town full of people that you want to know better, of quirky fun shops and their owners. The Christmas market and parade give her an excellent opportunity to give us a very rich world to step into and enjoy. I loved how the story flowed, and how we inevitably get what we want, but not in an easy way, and there are plenty of lessons learned along the way, as well as a touch of magic/fate/wishes coming true, which adds to the romance.

I loved catching up with all the friends from the first book and that Mika had a story which focussed on him and gave him what he desired more than anything. Perfect!

Sarah – ☆☆☆☆
This is a fun Christmas read. It’s almost sickeningly sweet, soppy, and more than a little twee, but it is full of Christmas schmaltz and cheer. Christmas is the only time of year I tend to enjoy unashamedly sentimental romance, and this year, as our second national lockdown makes November feel even colder and darker, I’ve started on the Christmas cheer a little bit early.

CEO Jeff and actor Mika both find themselves back in their New England hometown for Christmas. With Mika organising the town’s Christmas market and Jeff organising a charity hockey tournament, the enmity between them quickly thaws as they work together in the weeks before Christmas. Their story is set in a picturebook small town and the writer has included every possible Christmas detail. From inflatable Christmas yard decorations to Christmas baking, night skating, Christmas quiz nights and more, Mika and Jeff enjoy a magical courtship helped along by pretty Christmas lights and falling snow.

In a year where most Christmas gatherings and activities have been cancelled, Mika and Jeff’s perfect fantasy Christmas is a lovely distraction. This is an easy read. There are a few emotional moments but overall, the story feels light and cheerful. There is humour and fun between Mika and his friends and Jeff’s attempts to court Mika are very entertaining. There is a tiny bit of steam but this feels like a family-friendly romance.

This was a low angst book. So low I found myself being bored. I couldn't connect with the characters and I found myself skimming the book hoping it would get better. No such luck. I'm sure others will enjoy this, it just wasn't for me.

Serial killers think if it all goes south and they finally get caught that their swan song is a day in court, making the families relive the agony while they get off on that delicious pain, all over again.

Not happening. Not anymore. We’re not making celebrities out of monsters. We’re not giving them a stage to strut on.

Now they get an audience of two.

One to Handle the problem, one to Witness it.

I’m a Witness. I trained for six years to do my duty, to manage my contracted killer, and to watch justice be done.

I knew it would be hard, the first time, to watch the eye for an eye moment.

I expected to feel a lot of things – fear, disgust, guilt.

I didn’t expect to feel turned on.

And I didn’t expect my contracted killer to look quite so pretty with blood on his hands.

Handled is a dark gay romance with themes of justice, retribution, and unsuitable love. It is not for the faint of heart and contains graphic scenes intended for an adult audience. Further trigger warnings inside.

This isn't my normal genre that I read. I've been bored by a lot of books I've read lately, so I thought I'd give this one a whirl. Wow... I can't even put into words how I feel about this book. I'm glad I read it. I couldn't put it down. It was twisted and pushed some boundaries, but damn I enjoyed it. I definitely wasn't bored with this book and I'm not sure who I'd recommend it to, but I liked it... a lot!

Erica – ☆☆☆☆
Not a standalone novel.

When I decided to give this novel a-go, I said that it could go one of two ways, depending on how it was executed (pun intended). From the first page, I was absolutely hooked. Such a unique premise, the balance between Handler and Witness.

In a world where the justice system has failed, because it is only as blind as those who wield the justice, a new organization was born. Leashed psychopaths are paired with trained witnesses, a governmental program designed to take out serial killers when directly caught in the act.

Gray and Nathan had fully developed backstories that created realism as to why they're in the positions they're in now. Their personalities felt set in stone, never wavering. The author created a perfect balance for Gray and Nathan, as both Handler and Witness, as well in everyday life.

On the romance front, I wouldn't go as far as to say it was traditional romance, which is why I was so drawn into the story itself. Gray and Nathan forge a connection, a realistic bond developed over doing their specific duties, with complementary personalities. They play off each other incredibly well, creating hot scenes that sometimes cross many lines.

Without going deep into the plot, as that is part of the reading experience, the reader is subject to the day to day inner workings of the program, while actively pursuing a new objective to its conclusion.

Intrigued, I look forward to reading more featuring Nathan and Gray, and whomever else may spring up from this world.

Shannan – ☆☆☆☆
Handled is the first book in a new series. I didn't realize this when I read it, but it does get me excited for the next installment.

Handled is a darker themed suspense fueled read. It is a very unique world you enter into. Gray is a Handler. He’s brought in to kill offenders. Nathan is his Witness. They are given a case, they follow the clues, and Gray delivers the punishment of death while Nathan bears witness to it all.

Gray thrives on pain, giving it, getting it, it doesn't matter it all arouses him. After the kill, Nathan is warned Gray will need "someone" to satisfy that arousal, what Nathan isn't expecting is being that someone.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this read. The unique storyline was different enough to keep me interested but not so different it was unrealistic. I'm waiting patiently for the next installment!

Romilly King is a new-to-me author.

Sarah – ☆☆☆
This is a dark and creepy read. Set in a slightly dystopian parallel world where the government uses trained psychopaths to hunt and kill serial killers, this is the story of the twisted relationship that develops between one trained killer and the man charged with witnessing his kills.

As a reader who can appreciate a little light kink, the mix of sex and slaughter in this book pushed me well out of my comfort zone. Only the complicated psychology of the relationship that develops between Gray and Nathan kept me reading past some of the more graphic sexual violence. As a sociopath, Gray is intriguing in the way that Jodie Comer is intriguing in Killing Eve. Nathan is both attracted to Gray and repulsed by him – but he can’t stay away.

I feel like this book had more potential than was ever realised. The characters are interesting, but their growth is limited. The pacing is awkward, and the author misses opportunities to build tension and suspense for readers. Even the sexual chemistry between Gray and Nathan isn’t fully explored. I realise that this is the first book in a series, but nothing about this story left me wanting to continue with future books.

I have to be honest and admit that I’m not sure how much of my ambivalence about this book is because the book isn’t a great fit for my personal reading preferences. I know there are readers who enjoy blurring the lines between sex and violence much more than I do and I'd be curious to know their thoughts on this book.

Finally, I read this book pre-publication and the version I read was in dire need of a thorough copy edit. Too many basic errors with commas, apostrophes, spellings, and homonyms took my attention from the story and disrupted my reading. I really hope these issues will be addressed before publication.

A Wright Christmas by K.A. Linde Blog Tour

With the help of some Christmas magic, maybe they’ll finally have a shot at a second chance.

A new second chance single dad standalone romance set in the world of the Wrights from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

At seventeen, I left Isaac Donoghue behind to become a professional ballerina.

When I return home to dance in The Nutcracker, I never expect to run into him. Let alone on my first day in town. I can’t help but admire him in a crisp suit with his toned soccer body, chiseled jaw line, and all too familiar piercing green eyes. I thought nothing could surprise me more.

Until his five year old daughter runs out of the ballet studio.

I’m only in town for a month. I shouldn’t get involved with anyone, especially the ex I’ve been pining after for years. Especially when he has a daughter to consider.

But where Isaac is concerned, I’ve never been able to stay away.

With the help of some Christmas magic, maybe we finally have a shot at our second chance.

Veronica – ☆☆☆☆
This is a beautiful second-chance romance set at Christmas. It is also set heavily around the world of ballet even if most of that takes place in the production of Peyton’s hometown in Texas rather than the stages of New York City.

This was such an enjoyable easy to read story. We get the sexy second-chance romance between two high school sweethearts, a single dad with a cute daughter, supportive, loving extended families, dancing, and more. There is some drama in the story but not too much. It was just enough to keep me interested.

It was clear from the beginning that Isaac and Peyton were still in love after all these years and it was just wonderful to go on the journey of love with them as adults. While enjoying their romance, I enjoyed meeting their friends and family, some of whom will likely get their own romance stories soon. I’m hoping Peyton’s sister will be getting one because there is something interesting going on with her.

Ultimately, where the story goes and some of the events are no surprise, but I didn’t mind at all. If I’m reading a Christmas-themed romance, I want a tale full of love and joy to get me in the Christmas spirit and A Wright Christmas did exactly that.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
If you have read previous Wright stories, then you will love this very romantic tale which also gets us all caught up with all our favourite couples and their families.

Isaac and Payton split when she left to dance in New York – and whilst it was an agreed decision, it wasn't an easy one. Peyton is now back in town for a month dancing in The Nutcracker, and so is Isaac's five-year-old daughter. I absolutely loved all the dancing, the insight into the pain of being a professional, and the need to accept that there will come a time to stop.

The real sweetness comes from Isaac's little girl and her relationship with everyone, but Peyton in particular. She is charming without being too sweet, and adds levity and intensity to the situation as she sees how important Peyton is to their future.

Beautiful Christmas story with lots of family, lots of romance, and plenty of ballet – pretty perfect combination topped off with a super romantic gesture and a lovely happily ever after.

Swept Away by Skye Jordan

A harmless lie. But when one lie creates another, which creates another, the truth unravels. And threatens everything I've come to love.

The steamy conclusion to Skye Jordan's Wildfire Lake series.

I knew the day we met, Chloe Hart wasn't a woman you fuck and forget. She's the kind of women men dream about – hotter than sin and sweeter than sugar. Her last lover scarred her heart, and despite our wicked chemistry, she's got me locked in the friend zone.

She can try to ignore the heat between us, but I'm not going away. I transferred here to support my goddaughter through her teens after her father – my partner – was killed in the line of duty. And this kid is as good at finding trouble as Chloe is at sidelining me.

When Chloe's ex shows up for the lake resort's first big retreat, things shift on a dime. Without a second thought, I step in, publicly claiming her as mine.

It seems like a harmless lie in the moment, but when one lie creates another, which creates another, the truth unravels, threatening everything I've come to love.

Avid Reader – ☆☆☆☆
M/F Romance

I really love these women. They are honest, true to themselves, and really fun to read. You should definitely read the previous books, as it helps you understand the relationships among the women and men in these stories.

This is Chloe's story. She is a yogi, author, and amazing businesswoman who wants to help others overcome their own heartbreak. She helps others find their true selves. With her best friends, she is opening up a great business. Her past has pushed her forward with finding herself and she doesn't want to look back. With great friends and a great town, Chloe is happy with her life.

Xavier knows who he wants, but he also knows that she has placed him firmly in the friend zone. Despite that, he isn't going to give up. When he sees an opportunity to help Chloe out with a situation, he jumps at it.

With Xavier's family issues, Chloe's ex, and friends who just want what's best for you, Xavier and Chloe will have to learn to trust each other, lean on others, and find their truths in order to figure out if they can be who they want and find happiness together. It's a very sweet story with some spicy aspects. You'll love these women and be sad to see this series end.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the final book in the series – I have just read all three in a row, which has been such a perfect way to use up a long weekend! I enjoyed being transported into the company of three strong women who bonded over an almost tragedy, and now join together in Wildfire and find a whole new direction to their lives. The place is fabulous, the locals are hilarious, and now that the resort is about to open, the trio of best friends have to decide what happens in their long-term future.

Chloe is nursing a broken heart – her ex cheated on her and damaged her self-esteem. She lives her life openly and supports others through her self-help book, so she is very raw and closed to a new relationship. Xavier, the new in town police officer, has been making it very clear that he is interested, but she chooses to avoid him. This story breaks down the boundaries, gives us a clear view of her horrible, self-obsessed ex, and has us absolutely cheering along Xavier in his mission to make Chloe a part of his life.

I loved the crazy of the resort's first event. The arrogance of the man who has booked the event, and the revelation to Chloe that not all men are so self-absorbed. And Z's god-daughter is an important foil as Chloe starts to see what really does bring her happiness.

I really enjoyed this trilogy and would highly recommend it to you – it is fun, sexy, sweet, and completely pulled me away from the everyday, which was very welcome.
