Bound by Desire by Wendi Zwaduk

Stella wants her groove back after her divorce, but she never figured a younger man would be the answer to her prayer. He’s determined to do more than bind her wrists. He wants her heart, too.

Stella Barnes isn't looking for love. She's convinced it's not in her cards. The guys she's met seem to want her money and greeting card business. When her sister throws a freedom party at the local dance club, Stella meets a man who makes her think twice about giving up on love. Can the young buck command her body and soul in the sensual ways she needs or will her desire to be spanked send him packing?

Wes Chase has known he wanted Stella since the moment he saw her--at the club and two years before when she was still with her husband. Her plan to use him for her date to attend her ex-husband's second wedding makes him cringe. He'd rather be with her out of love and kinky devotion, not as a dodge. Will he convince her they belong together and he can set her spirt free or will her fear keep them apart?

Note: Age difference between characters

Stella thought that she would have a very different life by now. But she finds herself somehow still connected to her cheating ex-husband in ways she never thought. She knows that he likes to manipulate and hurt her, but she can't seem to break those ties. They were friends first and it's difficult to get past the fact that he says he wants to remain friends, despite him treating her like gum on his shoe.

Then you have Wes. You first meet Wes when he tries to obtain a rental property from Stella's horrible, then, husband. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders. However, when you re-meet him, he is much more grounded.

Stella and Wes have to get over their own issues along with everyone else's issue with them being together. Their age difference seems to be the biggest issue for them to overcome. I didn't really see what the big deal was and thought that always coming back to that issue was a huge distraction from the story.

Then, once Stella figures out what she needs, wants, and can have, she's quick to take action. She knows that she needs to cut ties with her ex, but when she does, it seems almost choppy. It wasn't smooth, nor did it really resolve anything. I also felt that Wes' ending seemed almost rushed. He wanted to be with Stella and showed her how serious he was, but it felt unfinished.

While Stella and Wes did have some chemistry, I also felt that because their issues kept getting in the way, they struggled with their connection. Overall, this had great potential, it just didn't really pique my interest.

Ruthie☆☆☆
I think that this book holds a lot of potential, and I liked the storyline. I did, however, sometimes feel that the leads did not stay in the character that I thought had been previously developed. This was particularly true of Stella. Whilst I understood that she was working hard to overcome the damage done, and still being done by her ex, her continued allowance of his interference in her life was incongruous. Thankfully Wes was patient, determined, and consistent. These characteristics enabled her to be free even when fully bound.

An enjoyable read, with an ex that really everyone could get behind disliking!!

Corey and Katie love each other. However, with Corey's family life, he didn't know if he could hack being monogamous or being a husband. When he asked Katie for a divorce, he didn't realize that it would tear him apart from the inside out.

Katie loves her job and her friends. She still loves her ex-husband too. But with everyone telling her to move on, Katie knows that it might be time. If only she could get Corey to see that he is more than what his family tells him he is.

This is a couple that dance around their communication. They say they are friends, but really, they are booty calls until they decide whether they want more. It was a somewhat forced story and I'm not really sure what Katie's colleague added to the story at all. Also, while I understand wanting to spice up their sex life, it seemed that they made a huge deal about their kink, when in reality, it was very minimal.

You do get a happily ever after, but it is a short book and seems like it's very similar to the first book in the series.

Graig is a history teacher who is just starting out in his career. He loves what he does and knows that he can do it forever. What he's missing is that he has found out, just before taking the new teaching position, that his girlfriend, Lila, had been cheating on him. Lila and Graig break up and he is free to start his new job and date other people.

Tessa is an art teacher at the same school that Graig is now working at. She has family who also work at the school – her sister and brother-in-law. Tessa has always felt that she is better suited to being the good friend, but never enough to be loved material. She has a weak self-esteem and isn't going to look for love, despite her sister's attempts to set her up.

When Graig and Tessa begin their courtship, they have to navigate co-workers and exes. Tessa has to decide if she can trust Graig and Graig needs to make sure that he's clear and honest with Tessa.

I really enjoyed this story and despite some awkwardness between the main characters, I felt that their relationship was fairly organic. I can't wait to see what happens next.

I always dreamed of writing the stories in my head. Tall, dark, and handsome heroes are my favourites, as long as he has an independent woman keeping him in line.

A Sinful Tune by Wendi Zwaduk

Two hot rockers and one girl… what could go wrong?

Robbie thought when he formed his band he’d get the girls, the gigs and the money. He’s got the gigs, but the money is a little slower in coming. He’s also got more than a few secrets. He wants the band to succeed, but even more, he wants to find the one woman who can accept him—warts and all, but also with his best friend Dillon involved.

Dillon loves Robbie like a brother. Robbie’s his other half in the music world. He handles the words while Robbie writes the music for the band. But all the music in the world isn’t enough if they don’t have their perfect third—Jess. She hits all the right notes for him and Robbie. The only issue? She may not accept their love in return.

Jess has followed the band for years and worked her way up to selling their merchandise. She knows their music almost as well as they do, but doubts they’d want to be with her. She’s so unlike the other women they’ve had—she’s short, curvy and a purple-haired Goth. When Robbie and Dillon hang out with her after one of the gigs, she has a choice to make. Either head home and wonder or let go of her fears and give the two men of her dreams the chance to make her fantasies come to life.

Kris☆☆☆
I'm all about a rock star read but this story fell a bit flat for me. Maybe because it's just a super short novella and I wanted more backstory to this trio? I'm not sure... I never connected to the characters much, so the sex was very anonymous to me. But it had some good ménage scenes and musicians, crazy exes, and unsure-about-their-body-type leading ladies. The makings of a good book.

Ruthie☆☆☆
This is a short story, so there is not a lot of time for character development. The trio have known each other for a couple of years, yet the guys have never before tried to persuade Jess to give them a chance before. We don't really have an explanation of why – instead we know that she has been belittled by their previous girlfriends and is again, which is difficult to understand. There are further complications which I feel distract the reader from the core storyline, rather than add value – but others which would surely be worth investigating, such as her musical ability. It seemed odd that had never come up in conversation.

I really wanted there to be more, so that the questions that didn't make sense to me could be explained – let alone the desire to know how they moved forward together. I guess that is the danger of a short read.

Rachael☆☆☆
I have to say the premise had promise, but the storyline itself was lacking. The two characters were 'in love,' yet they were both all over the board. It was hard to believe either of them because of their actions.

Molly was a bit of a doormat and annoying the way she knew she was being used, but still allowed it to happen because she loved Austin. Meanwhile, Austin knew he cared for Molly, but still couldn't decide which woman he wanted. Sure, he was a player, but it was hard to believe him when he finally made up his mind.

That being said, I did like the whole being poached from another company part of the story and how that played out, and that's the only thing that saved this story from being a completely terrible read. I mean, even the boss was all over the place. He fired people, then hired them back only to fire people... then to say he knew all along how things were going to work out... WHAT?! I think if the characters were more solidly formed and stuck with decisions, it would've been much better overall.

This short story is full of heat and desire which builds nicely. As the men's predilection for threesomes is common knowledge, Channon is not surprised at their suggestions – in fact, she has been dreaming about it since she was a teenager. As there is history between them all, the speed and depth of feeling works. There is a little twist in the story, and plenty of passion, as well as some cowboy fantasy fulfilment. Fun read.

In the Eyes of the Law
by Ashe Barker

She’s still his wife, in the eyes of the law. But is she still his submissive? His to spank?

She hasn’t seen her estranged husband for years, and now she discovers Josh has a strict policy on how best to deal with shoplifters. He was her husband and her Dom. Josh has never forgiven Libby’s betrayal. She let him down. She deserves to be punished. But does he still have that right?

Libby meant to divorce him. She was granted the decree nisi but never quite got round to making it final. They both know she’s still his wife—in the eyes of the law—but is she still his submissive? His to spank?

Kneel for You
by
Katy Swann

Should she agree to be spanked? Just the once? It would all be in the name of research, of course…

When journalist Kirsten Anderson is told by her boss to write an article about BDSM she’s extremely reluctant. She tries to get out of it by claiming she doesn’t know anything about BDSM, but that isn’t strictly true. None of her colleagues know about her kinky past and she has no intention of letting them find out, but she isn’t in a position to turn the assignment down either.

When her friend Chloe sees how stressed Kirsten is about the article she offers to take her to a BDSM club to find some inspiration. Kirsten agrees, but doesn’t mention that she used to go to this particular club regularly until a bad experience made her turn her back on the kinky lifestyle three years earlier.

Returning to the club and watching the scenes around them reminds Kirsten what she’s missing. She’s envious of the girl being flogged by her Dom nearby, but she’s so busy denying it that she doesn’t recognize the burning need inside her. Until she spots Eddie—a colleague she’s got a secret crush on—working in the club as a Dungeon Monitor.

Eddie reintroduces her to the joys of Dominance and submission, the delicious sting of a spanking and the incredible sex that follows. But is she strong enough to conquer her fears?

Silk and Decadence
by
Wendi Zwaduk

There is always fun in the club, but taking the fun outside and into life might be exactly what’s needed for a lifetime of passion.

Sadie has never claimed to be a good girl. She loves to be at Push, a local dance and BDSM club, but she longs for more—especially with Master E. The blond-haired man with the sparkling brown eyes is everything she wants in a Dom. Too bad he’s also her boss at Delight Tonight. When they finally get together, their chemistry in the club is off the charts. Will that same passion translate into the real world or are they destined to crash and burn?

Elias likes his no-strings life, but once he plays with his mystery woman he rethinks his choice. She responds to him and his spankings like no other, making him want to break his rules. He longs to reveal his identity to her, but the risks could outweigh the reward. Will the relationship survive outside the club?

He’s about to find out just how decadent a little complication, complete with silk and spankings, can be.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
Overall an interesting mix of stories, some better than others, and some hot reading.

In the Eyes of the Law
This is an interesting scene out of a couple's life, which starts with a spanking, but resolves some long time hurt. It is well written and satisfying.

Spicing it Up
What a perfectly descriptive title for this very hot and fun read. Loving, sexy and tantalising.

Kneel For You
After a bad experience, Kirsten has foregone her lifestyle of submission. However a writing assignment takes her back to the very club where she was hurt. This time the outcome is very different. Very sweet little story.

Silk and Decadence
I felt that this could have been better within a longer story. It was rather rushed, and some of the conversation contents would have been better as actions than chatter – there was a lot of explanation. It was inevitable given the shortness of the story.

Properly or Not at All
This is a very hot story which definitely is advisable to read when in private! The couple are in a long term relationship and a small hiccup forces them to make some changes ... very steamy read!

A Private Education
Oh, lucky librarian! How I would love to come across such a particular library, let alone such a particular man. Fun frolic into the modern aristocracy.
