Avid Reader – ☆☆☆☆

This is the second book in this series that I've read, but the fifth in the series. I believe this can be read as a standalone as well.

Shayla and Zack were in love when they were young. When Zack realizes that he may be holding Shayla back from her own dreams, he makes a unilateral decision to end their relationship. Well, let's just say that they each realized their own dreams, but those dreams came with a cost greater than what both believed they'd pay.

Years later, when Shayla is at her training facility, Zack happens to walk in... both are surprised and neither has forgotten what happened years ago. Zack has his usual protective, somewhat overbearing tendencies and Shayla wants nothing to do with Zack.

Dancing around each other, they find that their chemistry still burns hot. Past hurts have to be rectified, new paths are forged. This is a story about redemption, forgiveness and above all, love. It was a sweet story.

I think that it was a little long-winded in some areas. I also wish that we had more of the sport intermixed. I am hoping that there will be more books as I found them to be very entertaining.


Lee’Anne – ☆☆☆☆☆
As is the trend with this series, Strong Hold is hot hot hot! I really liked it, it’s fast-paced and I love that it’s about a female MMA fighter, which was a unique perspective and made the book all that more interesting to me.

Shayla found the love of her life when she was just a child and that love continued to grow until their late teens when Zack made the decision to leave Shayla to get his career started as an MMA fighter. Shayla goes her own way pursuing her dreams as a dancer – until life knocks her down. Now, years later, Zack finds Shayla at Redemption, where she is working to get her career as an MMA fighter off the ground. Zack is a recruiter for an MMA company and when he realizes Shayla’s potential offers to train her – but really, he has other things in mind like winning her back.

I really loved that both the main characters are fighting their own angst for the same goal, it made for a unique and intriguing read. This book is definitely a 10 in the steam category – Zack is 100% alpha male and though Shayla is fiercely independent outside the bedroom, she’s only too happy to let Zack take over inside. I breezed through this book – unable to put it down. I can’t wait for more from the Redemption group!


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the fifth book in the series, and whilst you could read it as a standalone and enjoy it, it would be much richer if you read them in order. The digs between fighters, the hierarchy, and the camaraderie would make a lot more sense.

Here we get Shayla's story, as she reconnects unexpectedly with her first love, Zack. He left her when she was 18 and seven years later there is a lot for both of them to deal with following their split. I liked that the issues were very different, but both affected their emotional life, and their ability to fight.

I enjoy the MMA world of strong alpha men and women, even though I cringe at the actual fighting! And there is some lovely banter between them, as well as some harsh lessons to learn.

As Zack uncovers what has happened to Shayla, he has to learn to control his temper and to keep pushing if he wants her back. There is no doubt that they have sexual chemistry, but trust is another story entirely.

Another really good installment in the series, thank you Sarah Castille.

Now that they are all in Vegas and at a mob funeral, Grace has to see all these mobsters again. But when she sees Rocco, her heart starts beating again after six years.

Rocco was saved from an orphanage, or so he thought, but he was raised to be a mob enforcer. His life was to be a hired killer and feelings were not part of his life. So falling in love with Grace was not supposed to happen. But she was the only light in his dark world.

When a contract comes to Rocco that will destroy Grace, he has to find a way to protect her and not complete the contract. He has to protect her family and keep her safe. He has to find out who sent the contract and why? Can he get Nico and the family to help him to protect her and her family? Will they find out who will be sent to fulfill the contract if Rocco doesn't? Can Grace trust Rocco to tell her the truth about the contract and to protect her and her family?

I loved this story and it was hard to read about Rocco and his upbringing, but the one thing in his life he lived for was Grace. This series is great and worth the read if you love a great mob story; each story is about a different mobster and each story is just as great. So get this series, sit back, and enjoy the ride that is the Ruin & Revenge series. I hope you love it as much as I have.


Lee’Anne – ☆☆☆☆
Mafia books are one of my favorites and this series has been great so far. I really enjoyed the storyline in this one, I love that though the main characters were previously involved and meet back up, they don’t immediately fall back into bed together.

Rocco, aka Frankie, was adopted by a man who trained him to be a deadly killer with no emotion, stripping him of everything that meant anything to him at an early age. He meets Grace, a Mafia princess, when she’s just a little girl and the two spend a lot of time together with him acting as her bodyguard. They have a deep connection, and when she becomes of age the two get together, but when Rocco’s father finds out he goes to an extreme to get rid of their relationship and it sent Grace running across the country. Now, years later, the two cross paths again, but this time Grace isn’t running away and will do whatever she can to keep Rocco.

There are two reasons I’m giving four stars instead of five. The first being that I didn’t like how soft Rocco becomes at the end, at the beginning he’s this fierce badass who doesn’t take it from anyone, and then all of a sudden, he’s a big softie who tears up when talking about one of the other guys who is hurt. It was an abrupt change in his character and very weird, other than that though, I did love both main characters. My second reason is that there are SO many characters introduced at the beginning of the story that it’s confusing and took me several chapters to sort things out, and when you add that almost everyone had nicknames, it was a lot. I think reading this book in one sitting is your best bet because otherwise, keeping the characters straight is even more difficult – luckily, it’s a fast-paced story that you won’t want to put down, so reading in one sitting isn’t a problem! Rocco and Grace have a sweet story with just the right amount of mafia roughness to make this a great read. I look forward to more from this series!

After getting shot while trying to catch the drug lord, she meets Luca Rizzoli in the same hospital room. Both are recovering from gunshot wounds. He is very handsome and she is finding herself attracted to him, especially when he speaks to her in Italian. He owns an Italian restaurant, so she will have to check it out one evening soon and maybe see him again.

Luca Rizzoli is part of the Vegas mafia, after his father's betrayal, Luca is trying to bring honor back to his family's name. When he meets Gabrielle, he is drawn to her, and for a man that is only out for one-night stands, he wants more from her.

What happens when Luca finds out what Gabrielle does for a living and she finds out who he really is? Will they work together to bring down the drug lord that killed her husband? Will the Don of the mafia family let Luca and Gabrielle continue a relationship?

I am loving this series, who wouldn't love the bad boy mafia man and the take-care-of-herself detective that also needs protection at times. And the suspense of who done it is great too. I can't wait for book three, it will be Rocco's story.

Though this can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading Nico first as this story feeds off it and it’ll make it that much more awesome! This is an excellent “mobster” book – I enjoyed every page!

Luca is one of the head Dons and he’s worked very hard for his spot as his father once betrayed the family. Luca has earned respect, but there are a few in the mafia who still don’t believe in his honesty – especially when he winds up falling for a cop. Gabrielle’s husband was murdered years prior and she’s spent every moment since attempting to track down his killer. When she’s pulled off the case at work, she struggles with not being able to land her husband’s killer but at the same time, she’s also a lot freer. Then when she meets Luca, she thinks she’s found a distraction but quickly discovers that Luca isn’t exactly as “clean” as she’d like to think.

I think my absolute favorite part of this book is Gabrielle and her absolute fierceness. Even with Luca being a total alpha male, Gabrielle never just bows to him and I love that. I absolutely love Luca and Gabrielle together, they’re perfect for one another and the perfect balance of soft and hard. This story has a fast pace, great characters, and an intriguing storyline. I really enjoyed it!

Plain old quirky Pen. But he doesn’t have to be so cold.

Worthless, no-good piece of shit.

No. No. No. My fingers tighten on the lip of the desk. I haven’t even started to heal from last night. I don’t need the past intruding on the present.

Jack leans against the door across from me, thick arms folded over his massive chest.

“Lift your skirt.”

Shock steals my breath away, and all I can do is stare.

“What?”

“You heard me. Lift your skirt. Now.”

Bang. Bang. Bang. My heart thuds frantically against my ribs. Adrenaline pounds through my veins, and I feel a rush of heat between my legs. He knows. I can see it in his eyes, hear it in his voice…

“Why?” I whisper, stalling. And why is this turning me on?

“You know why,” he snaps. “You didn’t keep your promise.”

I smooth my hands over my cream skirt, silky underneath with a cotton macramé overlay, pressing it tight against my thighs. “It doesn’t matter if I kept it or not. We’re not in the club. There’s nothing between us. You made that clear the other night.”

“I fucked up the other night.” He shifts his stance. “I’m not good for you, Pen. You need to be with someone normal. A nice guy who’s going to treat you right and doesn’t want to hurt you.”

My hand fists on my thigh. “I don’t like nice guys. They don’t understand me. They’re too gentle. My life is about pain. Emotional and physical pain. It’s what I know, what I understand, what I need.”

“So you hurt yourself?”

“I didn’t—”

He cuts me off with a scowl. “Don’t lie to me.” He pauses, and his voice takes on a deeper, cutting edge. “Show me.”

My mouth goes dry at his abrupt command, and I fiddle with the edge of my skirt, at once indignant that he would try to boss me around and aroused that he did.

“What if I did?” I say defiantly. “There’s nothing you can do about it.”

His corded throat tightens when he swallows, and he fixes me with a level stare. “I’ll give you what you need.”

All the air leaves my lungs in a rush, and I feel a disconcerting wetness between my thighs. “You wouldn’t dare. I’m at work.”

“Try me.”

Electricity sparks in the air between us, and a curious mix of fear and arousal courses through my veins. Stiffening my spine, I curl my fingers under the edge of my skirt and draw it slowly, painfully slowly up my thighs. Jack stills. His eyes flick down and then back up again. He licks his lips, and his eyes darken.

I have awakened the beast.

This is the first book in the series that I've read. While I didn't feel that I was really missing anything, I did find it sometimes difficult to remember who was whom, since they didn't use "typical" names.

Penny is sweet. She is just trying to get through her life without feeling so worthless. Since she was young, that is what she heard about herself. While she's working as a legal assistant, Amanda, her boss, is both amazing as a boss and a friend. However, with a smaller firm, Amanda and Penny are forced to take some not so great cases and that puts Penny in a trickier position than she'd like. She needs to learn to love herself first, before she can really let others in.

Jack – "Renegade" – is an MMA fighter. He is part of a group of friends that fight, hangout, and train together. He notices Penny right away, but he has a secret in his past and present that he has tried very hard to cover up. He only allows himself a certain latitude and despite his being okay with who he is, he doesn't want to have to explain himself to anyone again. When he sees Penny at his club, not only does his libido kick in to high gear, but so do his fears. Will it happen again?

Penny and Jack have great chemistry and despite miscommunications, hurt feelings, blackmail, and pig-headedness, they find a great way to come together – to heal each other.

This is a sweet story about loving yourself, reinvention, and overcoming obstacles.


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the fourth in the series – and a great addition too. As we watch these men fall in love and fight for the one their heart desires, the level of fight put up by them and their women makes for great stories – I would recommend that you read them in order to get the full picture, but they are all excellent in their own right.

Here we have an unexpected match of Rampage, newly turned pro-fighter and the prim and proper Penny from England. They both have dark secrets and revealing them will cost more than their friendship – yet events transpire to make it impossible to ignore their feelings any longer. As we are drawn deeper into their relationship, there is a wonderful mix of dark when they are alone, and humour when they are with the Redemption family. By getting the story from both viewpoints, we get to reconnect with the men and women of that family. We catch up on the pairings which have already happened, as well as getting clues as to future romances.

I love the way that this story was resolved – it felt very natural as it fitted the plot beautifully and was very satisfying. Thank you once again, Ms. Castille.

Definitely one of my favorite MMA romances ever. I loved every page!

Rampage is a fighter at Redemption whose career in the MMA is just taking off. He’s known as the “nice guy” and it’s literally hurting his MMA image that he’s such a nice guy… what they don’t know is the secret he keeps locked tight. Rampage is into BDSM and one of the most sought after Masters at the local BDSM club. Penny had a rough childhood, which led to her longing for a bad boy and her bad habit of cutting herself just to feel the pain. When Penny is tasked with delivering paperwork to shut down Club Sin, she never thought in a million years she’d see the sweet fighter from Redemption there, but is immediately drawn to the pain that Rampage is delivering to his sub. Penny craves pain and will do whatever she can to convince Rampage to scene with her…

I just love that this book has so much drama. There is literally not a dull moment from page one. I love all of the characters, especially Rampage! The author does an outstanding job with the BDSM scenes, you’ll have no trouble at all picturing the intense scenes. I can’t wait to read more from Sarah Castille!

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is not a light read – it definitely delves into some of the most illegal elements of the mafia world – and the rules by which they live and die. Intertwined within a maelstrom of rules, vendettas, and power struggles, two people find a chemistry which should most definitely not be pursued, but... we all know what that means!

This is an intense, hard, and addictive read, which demands the attention of the reader and whilst there aren't too many characters, there are certainly enough to keep one alert. The relationships between them and the secrets we get to learn also add to the drama. This is not a book for the faint hearted!

I really enjoyed it, and was glad that I had time to read it for long periods, as it was quite difficult to pull myself out of it. Thank you, Ms. Castille, and I am looking forward to the next in the series.


Lee’Anne – ☆☆☆☆☆
Nico and Mia were each born to rival mob families. Nico’s father was killed when he was just 18 years old and he’s believed it to have been at the hands of Mia’s father. After his father’s death, Nico should have taken over the reins, being oldest, but he’s also a bastard and his cousin Tony has taken the top spot over him. Though Mia was raised in the mob, she’s tried to get out of the life and is now running her own business as a white hat hacker. Mia’s biggest pain in life is her controlling father, who has decided that Mia will marry Tony, Nico’s cousin, to end the family feud. Mia refuses and sets off a chain of events that makes for a super interesting read!

I love that not only is this a mafia read, it’s also a forbidden romance. Mia and Nico know that being together would start a war but their attraction to one another and the feelings that follow aren’t something they’re able to ignore. I loved both of the main characters, as well as all of the supporting characters, it’s a great set-up for a series that’s bound to be fantastic! The flow of the story is super fast, you won’t want to put it down! I can’t wait for book two!

Today we are pleased to sit down with Ray “The Predator” Black and Sia O’Donnell, the protagonists from Sarah Castille’s Full Contact (April 2015). From March 30^th through April 20^th the couple will be on tour answering questions about their relationship.

If you had $100 you could spend on anything you wanted, what would you buy?

Ray: I’d buy my girl some toys **winks**
Sia: I’d buy myself some toys **winks**

Ray grabs my wrists and pins them to the mat over my head, his body angled over me. My breath catches in my throat, and I steel myself for the memories, the black rush, the heart-pounding fear, but it doesn’t come. Instead, a red haze settles over my vision, and I press my lips together and buck my hips, throwing him slightly forward.

Bad plan. Now his groin is only inches away from my face. He’s still wearing his jeans, which means that bulge isn’t a cup.

“Ray...”
His face softens. “I hurt you.”
“Yes, you hurt me. Keeping secrets hurts me. It makes me feel like you don’t respect me. And it makes me feel like I can’t trust you. So maybe you could return to your proper seat now. Tray table up.”

He shifts down, settling his weight over my hips, but he doesn’t release my hands. “I hurt you. Means you care.”

I swallow hard and meet his gaze. “You hurting me means I was being stupid. Things were going where I didn’t want them to go. Now I’ve had a wake-up call. You have secrets you can’t share. You need to protect your secrets. I need to be with someone I can trust, and I need to stand on my own two feet. It’s just not going to work between us.”

His gaze darkens, searing me to the core. “You want to be done? Or are you scared and trying to push me away?”

The air shifts between us, electrifying, tightening my nipples and heating my blood. I am hyperaware of his thighs tucked against my hips, carrying most of his weight as he sits astride me in a dominant MMA position. My wrists, hot under his palms, press against the cool mat, restrained in a way I could never have imagined allowing them to be restrained. My chest rises and falls twice for every one of Ray’s breaths, and my core tightens. The innuendo isn’t lost on me. God, yes. I want to be done in the carnal sense of the word. But only by Ray. Finally, he releases my hands but I don’t move. Heat sweeps through my belly. I feel both vulnerable and curiously safe lying beneath him. My gaze shifts from his intense gaze to his sensual lips, and my breasts swell, remembering the touch of his hands, the gentle press of his lips. He wants me. Not just today, but tomorrow and the tomorrow after that.

“You make it sound like I don’t have a choice about being with you.”

“You don’t.” He leans down and kisses me with a savage fierceness that takes my breath away.

The third in the series, and definitely the other characters feature, but only in the background – so this could be read as a standalone. To be honest with The Predator in the room, everyone is in the background ... except the person who has been hiding since a traumatic attack in college ... Sia.

We are soon so deeply embroiled in their on/off love affair that the madness and badness that surrounds them seems like nothing. The chemistry is so strong that they set the pages ablaze. Fabulous, furious and satisfying – I have a feeling that there is more to come for these two and hopefully subsequent books will reveal what. There are after all a number of fighters who still deserve their HEAs and a couple of tattoo artists too!
