All Fired Up by Morticia Knight

Shawn can’t decide whether he wants to punch or kiss Trent. Kissing wins.

The party never ends in Las Vegas, but neither does the danger. Shawn is the new foot patrol officer on the Strip and he’s ready to take on the town and keep the peace. Once he spots Trent, who is a hunky firefighter at Station 32, Shawn wonders whether he can take him on too.

Trent is dedicated to his job, built tough and is a no-nonsense man of few words. At a local blood drive, Trent eyes a handsome new officer but doesn’t dare get too close. After his boyfriend’s life was snatched away in the line of fire, he couldn’t bear the agony of such a loss again.

Trent’s over-protective instincts kick in during an emergency call and he embarrasses and angers Shawn in front of their fellow officers. Too late, he realizes he’s falling for the sexy man. But has he already destroyed any chance they might have at something more?

Once they spend time together away from the stresses of their jobs, they find they’re not just compatible – they’re combustible. However, right as their relationship deepens, the threat of terror escalates on the Strip. The underground vigilante group, the Citizens Against Immorality, have raised the stakes. Will Shawn and Trent be their next targets?

Publisher Note: This book has been revised and expanded from the original edition that was published under the same title at Totally Bound Publishing in September of 2014.

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of violence and the use of sex toys. It is best read in sequence as part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Shawn is new to the Vegas strip beat. While he is excited to be with a partner who gets him, he is also not quite sure about his new crush, Trent.

Trent is a firefighter who loves his job and can't help but have a protective streak a mile wide inside of him. He isn't expecting to find someone he's interested in, but when he sees Shawn, he can't help but be attracted.

When Shawn finds himself in some tricky spots, despite being qualified and capable of getting out of them, Trent comes riding in and rescues him. With Shawn questioning whether or not his coworkers can take him seriously while he’s constantly battling being rescued, he will have to decide whether or not he should pursue a relationship with Trent, or let his crush go.

Trent is struggling with how to be in a relationship. He knows that Shawn is more than capable of handling himself, but when he sees Shawn in trouble, Trent can't help but jump to his rescue. And with the fires around Vegas heating up, Trent has to figure out who is setting them and why.

This story is a slow burn relationship that has aspects of poor communication, strange expectations, and protective streaks in both alpha males. However, they work. They complement each other and have a chemistry between them that is relatable and real. I really enjoyed watching them figure out how to make a relationship work. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Veronica☆☆☆
I couldn’t resist the lure of a romance between a cop and a firefighter. Shawn is a beat cop and sees all sorts of crazy things working the Vegas strip. The action from Shawn and Trent’s dangerous jobs combine with their romance and relationship drama to make a good story.

Trent is overprotective of Shawn which doesn’t go over well when they both attend the same emergency and Trent oversteps his bounds and causes problems. While overprotectiveness doesn’t work in public, in private, Trent fusses over Shawn in a way that is sweet and bossy at the same time.

All Fired Up is a story where the couple goes from attracted and hot for each other to deep feelings in a flash. It didn’t bother me. This isn’t a story that takes time to develop the characters and plot. It is fast moving and for me it was a quick and entertaining read on a cold rainy Saturday.

Kink Aware by Morticia Knight

Cruella can’t wait to show Ray the ropes…

Working at Rogue Ink is a dream job for Cruella, especially being around the hunky co-owner, Ray. Even though the money isn’t great, the eye candy and Ray’s caring heart make it all worthwhile. When Cruella risks rejection by inviting Ray to be their partner for a shibari class at Kiss of Leather, they’re thrilled when Ray accepts.

Cruella’s invitation both excites and terrifies Ray. He wants Cruella, but does he also want to become more kink aware? Still, he could kick himself for not already making a move on the sweet and beautiful Cruella, so maybe this is his chance. His protective instincts have gotten him into serious trouble before, so he’ll be sure not to make the same mistake with Cruella. They’ve made it clear they can take care of themself.

Cruella fears that Ray won’t accept their genderqueer identity and Ray aches to be the strong man Cruella needs. However, when Cruella’s dark past intrudes on their blissful present, Ray’s definition of strength might turn out to be harsher than Cruella is willing to accept.

Reader advisory: This book contains a brief scene of violence, references to eating disorders and the mention of a past abusive relationship..

Publisher's Note: This book is best read in sequence, as part of a series.

This is the ninth book in the series, and whilst this could be read as a standalone, there are references to events in previous books, and one very important event which involves the couple from the very first book, when Kiss of Leather hadn't even opened.

We soon learn that Cruella is getting back on track after leaving a toxic relationship. Mindful of this, their boss Ray has not pushed for the date that he so wants with them. But finally the stars align, and maybe, just maybe they will both get exactly what they want – even if they are not able to be open with each other about their desires. Luckily a shibari class that Cruella is taking means they need a partner, and Ray is the man they ask to join them. Here starts a voyage of discovery for them both, both in everyday life and when behind closed doors.

This was a good mix of a new relationship and a great opportunity to catch up with many previous ones.

Switching Places by Morticia Knight

Tai wishes Master Lucas wasn’t such an adamant Top, but he’s also crushing on the sweetly submissive Elliot. Could he have it both ways?

Tai has hit a wall in life. From all outward appearances, he’s the guy who has everything—looks, personality and money. But the modeling gigs are drying up and he still hasn’t found that special someone to call his own. The part-time work at Kiss of Leather is quickly becoming full-time to prevent the drain on his dream-business savings.

Elliot fell for the stunning Tai from almost the moment he met him. If he wasn’t so self-conscious about the weight he’s recently put on, maybe he could work up the nerve to make a move. However, not only is he a virgin who’s never done a scene before working in a BDSM club, but he’s also sure that Tai has a thing for Master Lucas. There’s no way he could ever compete with the handsome silver fox.

When Master Lucas confesses to Tai that he doesn’t only see him as a hookup and offers him a contract, there are a ton of considerations. They both realize that serious compromises would have to be made for them to have a relationship. But what if they found a third, a sub who could bottom for Tai and also do TPE with Master Lucas? Once the idea takes hold, Tai knows just the perfect boy for them both. Even better? He’s right there at Kiss of Leather, and Tai can’t wait for Elliot to turn them all into a throuple.

Reader Advisory: This book contains a scene of assault, and attempted sexual assault.

Publisher's Note: This book is best read in sequence, as part of a series.

Angie☆☆☆☆
I enjoyed this book. It did seem to move pretty quickly from no one being in a committed relationship to them being a throuple. I liked each character, Tai, Elliot, and Master Lucas; how could you not? However, I felt just like Elliott, that everything seemed too good to be true. I loved the dynamics of the characters as well. I am just sad that some things were skimmed over or several days or weeks had passed, I felt like I was missing pieces of their relationship. All in all, it was sweet, loving and a good addition to the series.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the eighth book in this series, and they are still fresh with new characters and snippets of previous ones. You could read this as a standalone, but why deny yourself the full enjoyment.

We start with a catch up of Tobey and his new relationship with Master Hunter. It gives us a good insight into Elliot and his crush on Tai. But Tai is currently playing with Master Lucas, and Elliot sees there is no space for him instead. As veteran readers of Ms. Knight will know, there is little which cannot be surmounted in Kiss of Leather. As we see, there is a solution which will get everyone exactly what they want, and with some unexpectedly strong feelings developing too.

Elliot's attempt to solve his own problems ends in danger, but he makes an incredibly wise decision when he has his phone in his hand. I felt it all stemmed from that decision and was a brave move. The three men together are amazingly hot, sensual, and once communication is established, in harmony. A good mix of BDSM elements and exploration of how different needs can be met.

Another very enjoyable addition to the series. Thank you, Ms. Knight.

Surrendering for Two by Morticia Knight

Strength is found when surrendering to destiny.

Graham has suffered way too much at the hands of the Nall. Ever since he was enslaved after the invasion, he’s been raped and tortured by the Alasharian Supreme Commander and his cohorts. Condemned to die by hanging for his part in the human rebellion, Graham gives in to the inevitable, no longer caring if he lives or dies. But an unexpected event occurs and, at the last moment, Graham is saved.

Balor is a guard to the Nall, but he’s also a part of the growing rebellion among the Alasharians. When one of the Nall’s advisors enlists his help in getting a human prisoner to safety, Balor comes to his aid. Startled by the soul match hum that sparks to life when he touches Graham, but unable to do anything about it, Balor is determined to protect his human match at all costs. When Advisor Oman arrives on the scene to rescue Balor as he helps Graham to escape, it becomes clear that yet another alien/human triad is forming—even if Graham may never accept being bonded to two aliens after the trauma he’s endured at the hands of Alasharians.

The time has come to depart to the secret military complex where the human and Alasharian allies will stage their final assault against the Nall and the Void. Families are reunited and others torn apart as they prepare for battle. The allies fear what will become of them all if Chris, the special human Sha Sha Ar has chosen as their spiritual leader, is no longer there to guide them.

Reader advisory: This book contains scenes of battle violence, and mentions of rape and torture.

I have to admit, I haven't read the previous books in this series. In fact, I think I may have started one and not finished it. This genre isn't usually something I read. I made it through the whole book and I actually think I will go back and start from the beginning to see what I missed. I really enjoyed the dynamics between Graham, Balor, and Oman. I will say though, I was disappointed with how things ended and having to wait until the next book.

Finding Sanctuary by Morticia Knight

Francesco might not know a thing about being a submissive, but for Master Theo, he’d be willing to learn anything.

Living on the streets of 1920s Los Angeles and pleasuring men in dark alleys for his survival is not how Francesco had thought his life would turn out. But he’s filled with the hope that someday—if he learns how to be a respectable fellow—he can make a home for himself and maybe even find a man he really cares for who also cares for him. In the meantime, he hustles to get by and looks for the good where he can find it.

Theo’s existence is safe and predictable. He indulges in his perverse nature at his friend Saul’s sadomasochism club on Hampton Road and negotiates contracts for the Hollywood players and studios. When an enticing little grifter crosses his path one day, the encounter unnerves him. Not because he gets conned, but because the refreshingly open and unaffected young man holds a mirror up to Theo’s own dreary existence. Theo might have plenty of material wealth, but his wealth of spirit can’t compare to the delightful Francesco’s.

Theo rescues Francesco from a dire situation and brings him home. If nothing else, he can at least find the desperate young man some decent employment. Instead, they both find themselves increasingly drawn to each other. But until Theo introduces Francesco to what being a submissive means, he doesn’t dare give his heart away. Francesco has yet to discover the secrets that are hidden behind the walls of the Hampton Road Club.

Reader Advisory: This book contains brief scenes of mild violence, homophobic slurs and references to past child abuse.

Publisher's Note: This book is best read in sequence as part of the Hampton Road Club series. This instalment is a prequel to book one and can be read first.

This is the sixth book in this series – but as the blurb suggests, it is a book which goes back to tell us how the popular D/s couple of Theo and Francesco come to be together in earlier times.

Another good installment, reminding us how different (and yet sadly the same) the 1920s were in terms of the treatment of gay men. Theo has an education and money, so lives the life he pleases, as long as he is discreet. He meets Theo on the streets and is immediately attracted to him, in spite of their difference in circumstances. They both give each other a great deal of trust, which is refreshing and fruitful for them both.

It is always good to read these stories with their old fashioned ways and turns of phrase – I look forward to new books as they are written, because one day we might find out just who does own the mansion.

A Master for Michael by Morticia Knight

Finding a Master for Michael won’t be easy, but Javier is determined that his boy will have the best—even if it means letting him go.

The Hampton Road Club is a secret gathering-place for men of a more sadomasochistic nature. The 1920s might be roaring, but certain practices are still frowned upon in open society. Michael’s job is to greet the club members as they arrive and to report directly to the club manager, Javier. Sometimes, his direct contact with Javier has nothing to do with the club members and everything to do with submitting to the strict Master.

Javier would give anything to keep Michael as his permanent boy, but he owes his boss, Saul, a great personal debt for helping him when he was at his lowest. Saul taught him that professionalism is the key to keeping things running smoothly at the club. He knows Saul would be greatly disappointed if he were to ever find out about what goes on between him and the club greeter behind closed doors. That’s why he’s never revealed to Michael how he really feels and why he must do the one thing for which he’d never thought he’d have the courage—give Michael away to a new Master.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is a novella in the series, and gives us another glimpse into the world as it stood in the 1920s, where men had to be super careful not to be discovered if they preferred male company and BDSM.

If you have read any of the previous books, you will know of the club and the management. Here we get to see Javier, the manager, try and come to terms with the fact that he should not mix business with pleasure. Saul, the owner, once again comes to the rescue. Javier's likes are in the SM area, and whilst not severe, I did wince at the way that Michael declared himself to belong to his Master.

Another good addition to the series.

Facing Fears by Morticia Knight

As the men of Kiss of Leather celebrate the resolution of the case of Corey’s kidnappers, Master Hunter worries that he’ll never see Tobey again.

Chuck isn’t about to let one of the key figures behind Corey’s kidnapping get away from him again. Everything he and Stone have discovered through their months-long investigation is about to come together. However, when Chuck follows the suspect to a shipyard, it’s not only his life that’s in danger.

Master Hunter is officially part-owner of Kiss of Leather, so he’s thrilled to raise a toast in celebration, now that the mystery of Corey’s kidnapping has been solved. However, he can’t help but feel left out. Everyone is paired up except for him. He’s never believed in monogamy before, but after Tobey unexpectedly left Kiss of Leather and no one knows where he’s gone, did Hunter make a horrible mistake by not sharing his true feelings?

Tobey is miserable ever since leaving West Hollywood and going back to Idaho. Breaking his own promise to himself by falling in love with his trainer, Tobey left Kiss of Leather impulsively after Master Hunter said something horrible to him. But things at home are worse than ever, and he’s come to realize that those who are related to him by blood aren’t necessarily his true family. The only place he’s ever felt he truly belonged was at Kiss of Leather.

Tobey has to face Hunter if he goes back to Kiss of Leather and Hunter has to figure out what he really wants from life and love. It takes a charity slave auction to show them what they’ve both been too stubborn to see.

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of violence.

This is a series that should be read in order – there are characters that appear in multiple books and a story line that you'll need to understand.

This begins with the resolution of Corey's story. I like that it was resolved, but felt it was really out of place. It almost seemed as an afterthought rather than an integral part of the previous books.

Master Hunter and Tobey have had a rough go of a training relationship. Master Hunter is a person who believes that he cannot be in a monogamous relationship. While he was willing to take on a sub for training, he is unwilling to allow himself more than that.

Tobey is someone who has been hurt before by a dom at Kiss of Leather and when he is taken in by Master Hunter, he wants to keep his emotions in check, but he's a man who follows his heart. So, when Master Hunter is unwilling to go to the next step, Tobey flees to his home.

What follows is a slow dance of Tobey and Master Hunter healing themselves, clearing the air, and developing a loving relationship that will last the test of time.

Veronica☆☆☆☆
With Facing Fears I felt like we got two different stories for the price of one. The beginning has us spending a little bit of time with Liam and Neal and also following Chuck as he pursues the white van he was following at the end of the previous book. The story took a turn I wasn't expecting and we get some nerve wracking action.

The story then moves on to Toby and Hunter. Toby is broke and wanting to return to LA and Kiss of Leather, having left his job the month before after having his heart broken by Master Hunter. I have to say I loved Toby instantly but it took me a long time to warm up to Master Hunter. Ultimately, I just wanted Toby to get what he wanted and by the end I was a happy reader.

I'm loving every book this is series, it is my guilty pleasure.

Angie☆☆☆☆
I really enjoy this series. I hope this isn't the last book since the mystery of Corey's kidnapping is finally solved. Boy that was some ending to that whole portion of the story line. GO LIAM!!!! I did feel like the first part of the book was more about Liam and Neal and then the second part was about Hunter and Tobey. I really wanted more of Hunter and Tobey, I felt like we got a little jipped, time jumped and we didn't really get a lot of details. There was the auction and then jump ahead and they were moving in together. Hopefully now that the mystery is solved we can have more story lines just on the couples again.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the seventh book in the series, and I do recommend that you read them all and in order to get the full impact of this story.

The first third brings to a very satisfying conclusion the ongoing investigation of abductions and is quite dramatic, to say the least. Although the events that led up to this point involved Corey most of all, it is Liam and his new master, Niall, who suffer the brunt of this stage of the drama. As someone who has been keen for the issue to be resolved in a satisfactory way, I was very pleased with the outcome.

The rest of the story centres on Tobey, who left after he believed Hunter rejected him, and who knows he has to come back, as his family do not want him. He takes a bold step in asking for his job back, and inadvertently makes it known that he has a problem with Hunter. Obviously fate intervenes and along with many other fabulous pairings at Kiss of Leather, these two finally get their chance at a happily ever after. It felt good to catch up with old friends and see how settled these men are, after a lot of turmoil in their lives.

Another enjoyable and action-packed adventure in a very good series. Thank you, Ms. Knight.
