I read this book as a standalone, and it was a gritty, stark story – unfortunately I had a hard time "getting in to it."
I can say that I did feel like I was missing some information, but overall everything was covered (that was needed).
Zoann is the younger sister of Death Dweller MC member, Christopher.
Due to his involvement with the bikers, he tries to shelter her from the evil side of the club.
Everything in her life changes when she meets the newest member, Val.
Neither of these characters have had an easy go of life - but they find solace in each other (however, this ISN'T "insta-love").
I did like Zoann, at points I was frustrated with the situations she faced – but I always liked her. Which is more than I can say for Val – I didn't like him, I wanted to, but just couldn't.
As I said before, this was gritty and violent, it was dark and at times depraved (although I wouldn't consider this a "dark" story). This book wasn't only about Zoann and Val, this book was about the Death Dwellers Club with a focus on the main characters.

With so many MC books out there and the fact I have never read anything from this author I was surprised that I loved it.

It has everything that a good MC book should have.
It was dark
It was gritty
It had romance (Not butterflies and rainbows romance but biker romance)
It had tragedy and triumphs

There were so many things going on that I didn't have time to get bored or lose interest.
I loved how the author had the characters speaking.
I was so drawn into the story and the characters that I couldn't stop reading.

Zoann is a naive girl that had to deal with one of the worst tragedies that someone can go through.
She was sworn to secrecy. Even her own mother made her keep her mouth shut.

Val is a troubled biker with his own issues.
Secrets, lies and an addiction make him almost incapable of any feelings for anyone that's not a brother.

Val and Zoann’s worlds collide and everything gets turned upside down.
They are toxic to one another.
But they can't stay away either.

This is part of a series but I only read this one and had no problem reading it as a standalone.
I will definitely keep my eye on what this author comes out with next.

This is a powerfully mysterious story which weaves together a plot involving family, love, surfing, Hawaiian spirits and drugs. It is harsh, passionate, violent, intense, supernatural and addictive. The Alana family are the main characters in the story, and as their tale unfolds, parts of them are revealed, but much remains a mystery. The twists and turns are clever and confusing. The ending ... is in my opinion an opening for another story, or for the reader to determine what could happen next. I'd be happy with the former option.

I think this book holds wide appeal, and it is very well written.

This one started out slow for me. I liked the authenticity to Hawaii but at times having to stop the flow of reading to see what something meant, became irritating. Once it finally got going it was very well written and I got lost in the story, but it did take a few chapters.

Overall all a good read I liked the suspense of the plot with the twists and turns. I can't wait to see where book 2 takes these characters.

I'm on the fence about this one, only because so much is left unsaid. This is not a stand-alone and definitely not a HEA at least not according to what is written. I'm a fan of Strings, and I have to say the difference in the books is night and day. No similarities. Strings made me laugh out loud, this book made me frown. I want to read the next book in this series but I have to say I hope it takes a better turn. The writing is really good, and I feel like I'm definitely in the moment but maybe I'm sick in the head for wanting something to come out of this. I can't see no light at the end of the tunnel syndrome. So far the plot has puzzled me. Overall entertainment is three stars.

This was a tough one to rate.
I was very glad for the glossary at the beginning and how I was able to click on some of the words.
At the same time I was frustrated as it kept disturbing me from being 'in the moment' during scenes to see what words meant.

Putting that distraction aside the story was good.
It was a unique plot and I was entertained.

Kea is doing a good job I suppose at keeping her family afloat.
It's not the traditional way but it works for them.
Then comes along someone who can take it all away.
I am still unsure if he is in love with Kea or not.

I guess I will have to wait until the next comes out.

I'm still reeling from this book and am not really sure how to review it – and do the story justice!
From the get go this book completely shook me to the core. Quite possibly the most intense first chapter I've EVER read. Which set up this crazy story.
Meet Keahilani Alana, the matriarch of her siblings who is trying to take care of her family. Which is proving to be very difficult and trying, but she is determined to make it work, by any means possible.
The problem is the "means possible" aren't exactly legal, and she isn't the only person interested in "market" space. This is all I'm willing to say in order to avoid spoiling the story.

I can't really classify this, as it crosses SO many genres: Action/violence, Thriller/suspense, Dark erotica, a touch of romance, and a touch of supernatural.

This was a crazy ride from start to finish! I can't wait to see where this story leads.

Kendall Grey is the self-appointed past, present, and future president of the Authors Behaving Badly Club. A whale warrior and indie freedom fighter, she spends summers in the corner (usually with a dunce cap on her head) and winters hunched at the peak of Mt. This is the fourth in the series, and you really need to read them in order to understand the extremely intricate plot lines.

This was a really difficult book to read after the last one, as Tori has to behave so differently. The author is weaving, maybe even double weaving, the story lines, so that one is kept on edge all the time. It is brilliant, but exhausting, and nerve wracking at the same time. I loved it, but I hated it!

Most of all, I can't wait for the next installment of this amazing story – so I hope Ms. Jacobey is busy at work.

This was probably my least favorite so far.

I am not exactly sure what game Tori is playing.

She has me confused and questioning her relationship with Michael.

Her relationship with Enrique has me bothered as well.

The book seemed to have ALOT of sexy time in it.

I found myself starting to skim through some of it.

Hopefully the next in the series will be a bit more interesting.

This story has elements of sexual and physical abuse, and while handled gracefully, may be a "trigger" for some readers.

Tori Farrell Anderson cannot seem to "live happily ever after." Feeling that their lives were about to be turned upside down once again, Tori and Michael planned on leaving their haven in the middle of nowhere and fall off the grid one more time. Unfortunately, their time was off and the FBI came calling. Now, the only way to protect those she cares about, Tori must leave the one she loves behind and return to the life that was forced upon her.

Becoming "that" Tori again wasn't as hard for her as she secretly hoped. Living a lie, body and soul, Tori does what she has to do to become a part of that life once again.

Feeling the humanity slipping away from her day by day, she knows that in order to recover the life she made for herself, she's going to have to do the unthinkable again. Knowing that it will allow her to go back to Michael doesn't make it any easier for her, and only hopes that the sins of her past and present, won't color her future.

Ms. Jacobey has once again done an excellent job in taking us into the world that is Tori Farrell Anderson and makes us wonder if we would have the courage to make the choices that Tori makes. What makes a person strong? Love or the lack of it? Soul or Soulless? Tori has now had a chance to live in both worlds and it’s amazing the world she chooses for herself.

This started out tough.
So many characters that I lost track. Cousins, brothers, bikers, mob members. Too many.
Ashley was a great character though. She has been through a lot and it was no thanks to Victor and Rage.

Those two made her life hard and heartbreaking.

There is only so much one person can go through before they finally break.

With Vic she was who he wanted her to be.
With Rage she was herself.

She hid her true self for so long that even her own family was in the dark.

I enjoyed it even with the huge amount of characters.

Will I read the next one? Absolutely

So I will begin with saying that I am done reading reviews before I read a book.
I made the mistake too many times and did it again with this book.
The negativity that surrounded it had me going into it with the feeling of being let down.

Never Again

This book deserves a lot more praise than what it's given.

It's a definite read for those who like original plots, a unique story line, and great book as a whole.

The writing was done very well and kept me interested...THE WHOLE TIME.

Jethro is a mean man with no remorse.
He must collect the debt that is due to his family.
But she must go willingly.

Nila is a woman who is Indebted to the Hawk family.
She is a fighter. A clumsy one due to her illness but none the less she is still bada$$.

Jethro knows what the outcome will be. It always ends the same way.
And he can't wait.

"I was a rule-breaker, curse-maker, life-stealer."

Again Pepper Winters has left me wanting more.

I will patiently wait like everyone else to see what happens.
A girl with her fate sealed and a man with no remorse for anything.

Those two combined equals a fantastic series in the works.

This story was just crazy! There are levels of insanity, all due to an agreement between the Hawk and Weaver families to absolve the Weavers of wrong-doing and avoiding death to the entire line – signed in the 1400's!

To this day, the Hawks are upholding the agreement and this is to Nila Weaver's dismay.

Nila Weaver and her twin, Vaughn are raised by their father – and are heirs to the Weaver textile dynasty. Nila, 24, is JUST making a name for herself and claiming her independence from the family name. Being she was raised by her father – she's been very sheltered from men until the day Jethro shows up.

I have mixed feelings about Jethro, he's a civilized gentleman in appearance – but he's cold and calculating, and I don't really like him.

I need to know what happens in this story – I just need to keep hope alive!

This is probably my least favorite of Pepper's books. It made me feel many emotions, none positive. I really, REALLY dislike the "Hero" in this book and am hoping the next will redeem him, somehow.

This is the first book in a series. Pepper does it again, she draws you in with a story so out of the ordinary that you have to finish the book in one sitting! It took me a little to get into the book, but once I was there I didn’t want it to end. I just couldn’t believe Nila’s father just let her be blindsided like he did. I mean seriously, WTH? Jethro is such a strong alpha and in a twisted way you can’t help but want him. The only thing that bothers me is his name, I associate Jethro with an old hillbilly show from when I was young. Jethro’s brother I already want to kill and I sure the h*ll hope somewhere down the line in the series he takes a good hard kick in the balls or something. The lunch scene bothered me but then in a twisted way turned me the h*ll on. Seriously Pepper, you come up with some twisted stories and I love the h*ll out of them. This book is telling us all the back story and setting us up for the adventure that I am looking forward to going on. I am sure it will be twisted and warped and I will love every minute of it.
