4.5 Stars.
As a huge fan of Draven St. James' Fire House Six series, I was crossing my fingers that the Club Syn series would begin with a bang. Between the Lies didn't disappoint.

Whew *fans self* what a beginning!

Spencer, graduate student from Iowa, broadens his horizons by visiting a gay club featuring a drag show the night before his first day at his new college. He's out of his element but equally intrigued. Ebony sashays over to play the hero when Spencer gets more than he bargained for.

Dr. Graham is Ebony by night and a strict professor by day. Unable to stop thinking about Iowa, Graham is in for a big surprise when he spots Spencer as one of his new students.

A page-turning novella that packs a punch – Between the Lies was fast-paced, addictive as a drug, and hotter than Hades. Graham and Spencer's story opens up future books, which I'm jonesing to get my hands on immediately.

Recommended to fans of MM Romance with an erotic kick, especially for those who don't have time to read long novels but want a complete story. Draven St. James' writing reminds me of binge-watching a few episodes of your favorite show. You're addicted and satisfied, enjoying the story when you have a few stolen hours, but leaves you wanting more.

Veronica – ☆☆☆☆
Iowa farm boy Spencer's first trip to a gay club has him meeting drag queen, Ebony, and an incredibly hot encounter follows. Shortly after, Spencer starts college only to find that his professor, Graham Darrius, is said drag queen. Spencer is attracted to both sides of Graham and so was I. They make a very sexy couple.

I'm not big on the student/teacher romance, but I think it worked so well for me in this case because of Spencer's less than stellar behaviour when things don't go his way.

I loved Spencer and Graham's romance and I didn't want it to end. I would have liked a longer story, but it still worked well in the shorter format. I'm not sure if the next book in this series will be a new couple or more of Spencer and Graham, but either way I'll definitely be reading it.

Rachael – ☆☆☆☆☆
This was such a good book!! This is the first Draven St. James book I've read and I can honestly say it won't be the last! There was such an interesting storyline, not to mention the wonderful character development between the two men trying to feel their way through an incredibly awkward situation.

I loved the drag queen part of the story and that even though Graham might like to become Ebony, he wasn't submissive or only a bottom. He had such a big, strong personality when he was at his day job as well.

A very good story that I really enjoyed.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
I like the juxtapositions used in this story. Drag queen v. newly out; student v. professor; upright v. uptight; blackmail v. unreasonable ... and that is just the obvious ones!

For quite a short story we get a good understanding of the setup of the club, and look forward to knowing more in future instalments of Luca and Silver. I'm keen to find out how Graham and Spencer navigate the path they have chosen to travel. It was definitely hot reading about how they overcame a whole host of issues.

Looking forward to the next in the series, that is for sure!

I’m a born and raised Oregonian. I’ve traveled extensively in search of mischief and mayhem to fill my books. My ventures have been quite successful in inspiring a wealth of stories both sexy and humorous. It gives me a great excuse to do some crazy stuff in the name of research. Of course at the end of the day, coffee within reach, laptop at the ready is where I find my peace.

Driven by Fire by Draven St. James

I enjoyed reading Taber and Deacon's story. Taber suffered a spinal injury on the job. Deacon, a friend, moves in as his caregiver after he has run others off.

It was nice seeing this couple come together and deal with having an intimate relationship while Taber has limited mobility. I like spending time with the Firemen of Firehouse Six and this story is sexy.

Deacon is keeping a secret from Taber and I have to say the reasons for keeping the secret, and even thinking it needed to be kept secret didn't really work for me. It seems silly.

Overall, another good read and I'll definitely be reading the next story in this series.

Erica – ☆☆☆
I have enjoyed the Firehouse Six series thus far, and was entertained by its newest installment, Driven by Fire. Draven St. James has created likable characters, a friendly and believable environment, and a continuing storyline. I was happy to note an explanation was given as to how there were so many gay members on the squad.

Fast-paced, sweet and charming, I couldn't rate Driven by Fire as high as its predecessors. Something just wasn't clicking for me this time around. I didn't connect with the characters as I had in the past. Tabs are kept on past narrators to keep the reader engaged and connected. New characters are shown to whet our appetites for books to come. All the elements for a novella were present, they just didn't connect together for me.

Book #3 in the Firehouse Six was my favorite, and I read this directly afterward. I'm calling a spade a spade. I don't expect these novellas to be the next great American novel. I've been pleasantly surprised how much storyline is packed in so few pages, the flawless pacing, the lack of unnecessary content, and the depth of emotion the author elicits from the reader. But this time around, I felt none of that, when it was a book about a semi-paralyzed firefighter where emotion should have been tantamount.

I think the storyline needed a bit more buildup before moving toward a relationship and nonstop sex (there was more sex in this book than previous installments). The scene in the club was over-the-top with the ex (after he was only a passing thought up until then), & I felt Cole and Aaron stole the show away from Taber & Deacon. Even the misunderstanding (which I don't believe in using as a plot device to create angst) involving why Deacon wouldn't share his love of art with Taber, fell flat with me and was over in two sentences.

I knew more about the side characters than the narrators. Perhaps it's difficult as we keep tabs on past narrators, stealing page time, as well as getting to know new characters, stealing page time, when it's a novella versus a novel. But I was left not knowing the main characters of this book. Deacon liked to do charcoal etchings & Taber was the dominant one of the bunch – that's all I got.

For me, Driven by Fire felt like a transition novella in the series, where if you didn't read it, you wouldn't be lost at all. I did enjoy it. It was a couple of hours of pleasant fluffiness that put a smile on my face and warmth in my heart, but I just wanted more out of it – more than a storyline such as this could have given.

I highly recommend this series for M/M readers, and I look forward to book #5 in this series.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆☆
This series just keeps getting better and better. Each story is about another couple, but keeps us up to date with the whole crew. And, more importantly, each story is unique and a great story in its own right.

Given Taber is in a wheelchair, facing a life without his beloved firefighting career, this could have been a story that included far too much pity. Instead it is life affirming and hot; very, very hot – let's be clear – the fires between these guys do not get extinguished. Deacon is just the guy to be a foil to Taber's character, as he is all about positives. Wrapped around a decent plot, we get to enjoy another relationship take shape, and have a few suggestions as to who will feature in the next story. Kudos for the nod to Michael making the point that he has been collecting guys at the firehouse, who needed the freedom to be themselves.

Veronica – ☆☆☆☆
This is the story of hot young paramedic Simon and fireman Michael. Hotness aside this story really stirred my emotions. Michael is dealing with guilt over a fellow firefighter's injury and Simon is dealing with rejection from his family.

Simon and Michael are opposites. Simon is young and easy going and Michael is 16 years his senior and more serious. They make a sweet couple. Fused by Fire is a lovely m/m romance.

Erica – ☆☆☆☆
On the surface, the Firehouse Six series looks like a hot, quick read filled with lust and not much content. But it couldn't be farther from the truth. I'm not much for a quick lay. So this series has been a pleasant surprise.

Firehouse Six has a lot of depth for so few pages, proving the adage less is more. Sometimes you don't have a billion hours to sit down and read hundreds of pages, but that doesn't mean you don't want a full story to digest, either. Don't get me wrong, the books are hot. But they aren't filled with redundant sex to use as padding to add page count. There is also a lot of story packed in so few pages, showing us past narrators and setting up future storylines, that leaves a reader's appetite whetted and hungry for more.

Fused by Fire elicited a lot of 'feels' from me. I got choked up a few times, and released a few tears at other times. Yet it was cute and sweet. It resonated as I know how it feels to wait for someone to come home, to wait by the scanner, listening to for a call for help, and being terrified until they finally walk through the door.

Readers have been waiting for Michael and Simon's book, longing to see the man in charge of Firehouse Six get his happily ever after.

I enjoyed Simon, and was emotional over his background storyline. It wasn't manufactured emotional extortion added to round out a character like some books offer. It felt genuine and authentic. Very real. So I connected with Simon on a level I didn't Michael. I still don't feel like I know Michael, even after his narration, but that it the type of guy he is...

Taber made me sad. Is his book next?

On a side note: I don't think it's possible for every firefighter in the series to be gay, but I'll ignore that ping of NFW and just sit back and enjoy the story. Which I will be doing in a moment, as I also have the next book to read and review.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the third in the series, and although an enjoyable story in itself, it does build on previous storylines. And anyway, they are good stories, so don't deny yourself!

Simon has been desperate to gain Michael's attention for a very long time ... but he never wanted it to be because he was injured. As Michael then proceeds to blame himself for the other injured firefighter, it takes an intervention from Simon to snap him out of it. I loved how things were developed and once again Ms. St. James draws the reader in with little details that make all the difference to a scene. I could not have stopped reading until I reached the end, unless there had been a fire for real! It is by turns sexy, caring, macho, sweet, hot and addictive. Go grab a copy and see what I mean.

Fire and Mistletoe by Draven St. James

Despite his misgivings, he can't seem to form the word no when it comes to Mica.

Mica knows that Grey's not a grinch. Hell, the man shares so much Christmas cheer during the holidays that he leaves no time to experience any for himself. Not this year. Mica plans to make a few changes, starting with a few wicked and whimsical gifts. He enlists the help of his co-workers at Firehouse Six. They band together and strive to provide Grey with the same joy he gives to everyone else--with five a.m. tree hunts, strategically placed mistletoe and Mica playing Santa's not-so-little helper.

Fire and Mistletoe continues the story of the incredibly sex Grey and Mica. Since his parents died, Grey works every Christmas to allow others to be with their families. Mica invites Grey to his family Christmas celebration and rediscover the joys of the season.

We get the struggles of our male leads as they move further into their relationship as well as a lesson on the joy of giving to and helping others. The author also gives us a hint of a potential romance between two more of our fire fighters. I look forward to their story.

By the time I'd finished Fire and Mistletoe I was all warm and fuzzy and in the mood for Christmas. Unfortunately for me I read the story in July!

Erica – ☆☆☆☆
4 smoking hot, emotional stars.

Christmas in July.

At a glance, this series seems to be focused on the smexy, but beneath the surface are a lot of feels. I had a bit of trouble getting into the book because of no build up to the beginning bedroom scenes. While I love Grey & Mica, I needed a bit more foreplay. By the middle of the book, I was eagerly reading, clicking page after page, never wanting it to end.

Fire and Mistletoe is not your ordinary smexy book featuring the holidays. I laughed a few times. I teared up a bit. My heart clenched during several scenes. Lastly, it got me scorching hot enough that I'd need a firefighter to put my flame out. (Erica hangs her head in shame <== I am not one who enjoys gratuitous sex, but I love the Firehouse Six series for some reason.)

I want book 3 now, but I have to wait until I receive it for review.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so was delighted to get to read the second too.

The story picks up where we left off, with Mica now living with Grey and their friends at the fire station aware of their relationship. Even though this is a short story, we get a lot of development in their story, meet family, experience abject jealousy and witness Grey at what he does best – helping others. Plus of course, plenty of mind-blowingly hot and steamy times. They certainly know how to choose Christmas presents with a zing!

I am looking forward to reading the next book, as I have a whole plot sat in my mind given the events of this one – can't wait to see if I was right!

Grey’s Hidden Fire by Draven St. James

Grey's entire life is wrapped around his job as a firefighter. It's all he has ever wanted. That is until his new coworker Mica Cruz saunters through the door with his smoldering dark looks and dimpled grin. Suddenly Grey finds himself wanting to get to know what Mica looks like out of his gear and between the sheets.

Mica has one rule: he keeps his work life and his personal life separate. It's easy enough to follow until he meets Grey and finds his rule can't stand up to the fire that Grey ignites. There's one big thing standing in the way of all of his lust-filled musings. Grey is straight.

In a profession where being gay is often kept quiet Grey must come to terms with his growing attraction to Mica. How much is he willing to sacrifice, and can they come together before someone's hatred threatens to destroy them both?

Sexy gay firemen were enough to make me want to read this book. Grey and Mica are scorching hot and the shower scene is one of the hottest I've ever read.

I liked that we get story along with our sex and I enjoyed the scenes at the fire station and meeting the other fire fighters. The story and their relationship is rushed simply because it is a novella and you can only fit so much in. All in all I really enjoyed Grey's Hidden Fire and I will definitely be continuing on with this series.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
WOW, I almost needed to call the fire brigade myself. For a short read, there is a lot of story and it is scorchingly hot, as well as rather wonderful. It is true that it is somewhat precipitous, but I am a believer in instant attraction, so it worked just fine for me.

I loved the ending and cannot wait to read the next in the series – I have been missing out on these gems!

Suddenly Sean is finding any excuse to be around the sweet, blind shifter. Hiding away his desires seems like the best plan, given after a lifetime in captivity Liam is just learning what it means to be free. What does he know about being a mate? More to the point, would Sean even want him if he knew the truth?

3 1/2 stars rounded up to 4 stars.
This is the second book in the Pack of Light series. I was surprised, and delighted, to find that it was Liam and Sean's story, rather than the expected Jacob and Cory.

Sean knows that Liam has had a hard life, raised in captivity, tortured and ultimately blinded. Liam's first taste of freedom scares Sean and he's unsure why. He feels protective of him, such as might a mate, but there is no mating scent, or instinct, that tells him that Liam is his mate.

Liam knows the truth though. That Sean is his, but if Liam allows Sean to mark him, Sean will tie his life to his. Liam is afraid that he is dying, the experiments over the years have weakened his physical strength and the wolf that lives within him.

When Liam decides to sacrifice himself for the good of the pack, Sean is furious, but nothing compares to when he finds out that Liam betrayed him by not admitting to the mating bond.

I'm anxious to read book three in this series.
