Reed
Kensington, self-made millionaire, ruthless attorney, and handsome playboy has
the perfect life… just ask him. Which is why he’s surprised when a chance
encounter at his baby brother’s wedding makes him cross-exam his plans for his
future.
Trevor West loves his friends and his life in the military as a special ops
team member. Though he longs to find a special someone, he refuses to
jeopardize his career on something as elusive as love. Until he meets Reed, and
the desires running through him threaten his hard-fought self-control.
When a dangerous mission blows their world apart, Reed doesn’t let anything
stop him from jumping in. But can he convince Trevor that they belong together…
that he deserves a chance at love?

I had read the original version when it came out, and when it was cutting edge
in its topic. Rather wonderfully, ten years on, things have changed – undoubtedly
not enough, but enough for it not to be the shocking press story that it was
then. I was curious to see how it had been updated, and I have to say I enjoyed
it just as much.
Reed is without doubt a man who should (and eventually does, to an extent)
learn to not bulldoze his way into things – but somehow doing it from a
position of love makes it much more bearable. The fact he has the funds to do
as he pleases, definitely helps him get what he wants. Thankfully, his brother
being Trevor's close friend means that the balance is restored to an extent,
when he has support to reduce some of the excesses.
It also reminds us that the press continue to invade our privacy, and even if
journalists have some morals, they will ignore them in search of recognition
and revealing the next big scandal.

Up in Arms was first released in 2012. It has been revised, updated, and
re-released.
Up in Arms is a super sweet, insta-love, no drama, no angst romance. I
enjoyed the first 50% or so, and then it just dragged on from that point and
was painfully loaded with detail and inner monologue. I am a huge fan of these
authors but this one just wasn't for me.

I didn't read the original version of this book so I don't know how much or
what changed. I enjoyed some of this book but much of it dragged and didn't
have much dialogue. I need dialogue, inner monologue doesn't work for me. I did
love Reed and Trevor and their love story, I just hate all the inner monologue.
