Storm by Rie Warren Blog Tour

Danger.
Lust.
Desire . . . Trust?

STORM

I’m headed back to the Blood Legion MC in New Orleans, my old stomping grounds. Guns. Thugs. Broads. Cocaine nightmares. A Mexican cartel, cracker coke runners, and now there’s a new international threat in town.

Blaize Carmichael is my only partner in this op. Blaize. As a biker babe. Jeeesus. I’ve had a bone for her from day one when she walked into headquarters—haughty, superior, and always in charge.

There’s a goddamn good chance we’ll get made, played, and put in the grave as government-issue traitors. But I can’t help it—I love to get rough, raw, dirty, and dominant with her.

No more yes ma’am, no ma’am. Blaize is about to find out I don’t always take orders as issued.

BLAIZE

I can’t stand the way Storm calls me woman or cher or sexy. As soon as we’re back in DC, I’m going to wipe that infuriating wicked smirk right off his dangerously handsome face.

I’m always prepared for every scenario. I’ve built my career on complete professionalism in and out of the field. But when Storm comes at me with wild animal lust—when he opens up to me—when he opens me up, I can’t say no.

I don’t want to.

We’re in danger every single day we stay in NOLA. There is no way we can make it out alive. Not together. Not this time.

Warning: Graphic sex, graphic action, graphic language. Triple X caution.

I placed Blaize down in the bed, gently. Dropping my clothes to the floor, I crawled in beside her and leaned up on my elbow.

“There’s just one thing I want from you, Blaize. Not pity. Not worry. Not as my boss. And no ass kicking either.”

“What?”

“Kiss me for real.”

“Is that a directive?” Her arms wound around my shoulders, guiding me down to her.

“As direct as I get.”

A low groan rolled from my chest as soon as our lips met. The heat of her mouth, the touch of her tongue, the light tease of her hands up and down my back was summer soft, and highly addictive.

The slant of her head was perfect and when she drove her fingers into the muscles of my ass, a louder longer groan rushed out of me and into her mouth. My chest filled, pumping like bellows, and I wanted to crash all the way against her, mate her, make her completely mine.

With a soft graze of her teeth against my bottom lip, she pulled just slightly back.

“Blaize.” I skimmed my hands from her waist to her hips to her thighs, nudging my mouth against hers. “Fuck, Blaize.”

She drew her hands up my arms, over my shoulders, locked them behind my neck. “I thought you needed something sweet.”

“That was more than sweet.” Sweet torture.

I rolled her to her side, asking for nothing more than her warmth.

I’d already gotten her kiss.

I could be patient enough to wait for the rest. All of her.

“Remember that the next time you want to curse the boss lady, sugar.”

“Sugar?” My belly rumbled with a laugh. “You learning the lingo?”

She sighed with a little sniffle that meant she was ready to head to la-la land.

I whispered against her neck, “You know you really fall asleep too easily with me.”

“’M’still awake,” she slurred.

Uh huh.

She drifted off just like that.

And half an hour later, I still needed to get off.

This room was gonna smell like hot sex by the morning one way or the other.

Getting up without disturbing her, I cracked the balcony door, poured a drink, and spat into my palm.

Sitting in the chair, I spread my thighs, hefted my meaty balls in one hand, and drank the whisky.

My cock rose up to my stomach, a huge thick rod incapable of going soft with an almost naked Blaize in my bed. I took another drink, letting the scotch roll around my mouth as my fist closed over the base of my cock and cruised up to the purplish head of my dick. I squeezed, and a drop of pre-come rolled out. Clear and slippery, the fluid ran down my veiny length and pooled against my sac.

Blaize shifted in the bed, her arms outstretched, blindly searching for me. With an operative’s instincts that something was different, her head snapped up and she was immediately awake.

Her eyes darted to me, spread out and naked before her.

“Didn’t wake you, did I?” I tugged my cock, making it even harder, hotter, pulsing.

“Fuck. Storm.” She sat up, and as the sheet drifted to her waist I could easily make out the sexy way her nipples tightened.

My pelvis rocked up.

I stared at her. “C’mere.”

Another fantastic book by Rie Warren, this is definitely one of my favorite series of all time!

Nash “Storm” Lafontaine has been lusting after his boss, Blaize Carmichael, for a year and a half. Now, the two are headed on a mission together and Storm knows that being alone with Blaize can only result in one thing – them finally in bed together. Their mission is to infiltrate an MC that Storm has previously infiltrated when he worked for the CIA. Their cover story is that Blaize is his old lady and Storm can’t wait to get this mission started. Blaize is a total bad ass and I absolutely loved her character, she’s definitely a strong female heroine. Storm is the typical alpha badass that we all love, and he’ll do anything to protect Blaize once things turn messy. Though they’ve had to cross the line a few times during their stint in the MC, Blaize is holding back because of fear of being involved with one of her operatives once their mission is over…

One of my favorite parts of this book was the build up from the previous two books, which I advise reading prior to starting this one or you’ll be a bit lost, especially in the beginning. My second favorite part is that we get the X-Op’s side as well as the MC, which are my two favorite genres. This is a page turner, too awesome to put down – I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Shannan – ☆☆☆☆
I have been waiting for Storm and Blaize's book forever. The tension between these two has been growing steadily since the first Bad Boys book. Well at least from Storm.

Going on this op was not what Storm was expecting. The op itself is no big deal, he could go back undercover in the Legion MC, but it was who was going with him that was his issue. Blaize has been the object of his desire for well over a year. He's never made a move and Blaize has ignored his attraction. When they are both undercover and acting as a couple, things between them change.

Will the club let him back in without issue after two years? Can Storm get the girl and keep them both alive? Will Blaize finally give in or will she be in constant "boss lady" mode?

I loved the MC aspect of this one. Yes, this particular MC is a horrible place to be, but I loved seeing Storm in that world. Storm is super sexy when he takes control of Blaize with their roles reversed and him in charge. He knows what he wants and wasn't afraid to get it.

I can't wait for the next one!

Veronica – ☆☆☆☆
Storm has had the hots for his boss Blaize for a year and a half and now the two of them are going undercover in the Legion MC to bring down the bad guys. I love Storm's reactions to Blaize. When she is around, she takes over his every thought, and his every thought is very dirty. This story is full of heat and there is so much electricity between them it is clear the lines between boss and employee were going to get blurred.

The synopsis of this book to me suggested that it would be dual point of view, but it isn't. Blaize is a kick butt heroine, I didn't connect with her as strongly as I did Storm and I think it would have been even better if we'd had her side of the story too. Even so, Storm provides us with a fast-paced, hot, action story that is fun from start to finish.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
As this is the third in the series, we are inevitably expecting great things – explosive, dangerous, and hot! If you have not read the previous two, then I highly recommend you read them first. These are some seriously dedicated guys, who go to extremes to achieve their missions – and so far two of them have also found romance, in the most unlikely places.

Storm (Nash) has it bad for their boss lady, Blaize – so when she decides to join him on a mission, as his old lady as they enter an MC, he is both excited, and unhappy at putting her in danger. I love how the plot plays out and just how much effort they expend proving that she really is his...the story if fast and furious, the seduction by each of them is tantalising and delicious by turns. They come to life on the page, and expect to have some stressful moments, as these guys really do go on dirty, dangerous ops.

A really great addition to the series!

Jae's Assignment by Bernice Layton

Trusting her is dangerous. Not trusting her could be deadly.

Jae Randall isn’t just another pretty face. She’s a trained FBI Special Agent who’s just been assigned to extract and relocate a witness.

It’s a no-brainer. Strictly routine. Until she realizes there’s nothing ordinary about this assignment—nor the handsome doctor she’s supposed to protect.

After five years under threat of capture, even death, Trevor Grant trusts no one. Least of all the beautiful, statuesque woman who asks him to dance—then informs him she’s his contact.

Before he can figure out whether she’s legit or part of the shadowy militia who’s after him, shots ring out. And Jae’s piece-of-cake assignment turns into a bloody, life-or-death race against time to find out who has betrayed them—and a losing battle to resist their electric attraction.

Warning: Contains a gun-wielding, ass-kicking FBI agent with a gift for eloquent profanity, and a psychiatrist with a secret recipe every military on earth would love to get their hands on. Readers are reminded that when in doubt—or danger—always use protection.

Rachael – ☆☆☆
This is a hard book to write a review for. While I enjoyed the storyline, there were definite problems I had with it as well.

The storyline was quite complex and the characters I found were pretty well-rounded. I got quite wrapped up in finding out what was really going on as there is a lot of mystery behind the story and it kept the pages turning quickly.

However, that being said, I have to admit that I didn't like the way the color card was used. Skin color was capitalized like it was a statement instead of simply the color of their skin. Not to mention, that the main woman states blatantly that she "doesn't date White men." It took away greatly from the story in my opinion.

Then there is the fact that there were a few words that were used incorrectly, like the author used a thesaurus and didn't look up what those words actually meant.

Lastly, there were portions of the book that were told to the reader instead of showing us. Characters would be in the middle of a conversation and then instead of continuing the back and forth between their speech, we'd be told that one or the other simply said something.

Example:
"So you're going to try and find him, huh?" When he nodded, yes, Jae told him she was going with him and dropped her feet to the patio floor.

It really ruined the flow of the story in my opinion.

However, these are all issues that I have personally, so I'm sure others will have no problem simply enjoying the plotline.

For a short story, this is packed full of plot and action – all surrounding an unexpectedly sweet romance. My advice is read it and see just how it can be done! I rather liked the style, and definitely thinking back, even though the pace is speedy to say the least, it is an entertaining story. Those of you who might worry given the title, probably shouldn't, as that issue is nullified within pages. I risk giving something away if I say too much – but be sure, this is a big package in a small box.

Line Brawl by Bianca Sommerland

Not all fights are one on one. In a team, no man should stand alone.

‘You can’t keep me.’

Shawn ‘Easy’ Pischlar has given his speech so often, it should be written on the white board in the Dartmouth Cobra’s locker room. Too many of his own teammates have heard the words.

And the games he’s played are finally catching up to him.

To hang on to his freedom, Shawn gave up on ever having someone to call his own. A young woman who expects nothing from him slips into his life and has him ready to toss the rulebook. While the man he loves tempts him to burn it.

Keeping them both would be easy, only…caring about them isn’t.

Because when he lets himself care, he remembers why he wrote the rules in the first place. Every lover, from the casual, to those who steal a piece of his heart, shouldn’t expect more than pleasure. More than passion.

Playing the game, on and off the ice, is his whole world. One he isn’t ready to change.

Except, life doesn’t stop for the game. And when old scars are ripped open, and he’s left bloody and beaten, the rules won’t help him put the pieces of his life back together.

To win this fight, he’ll have to break each and every one.

I am a huge fan of the Dartmouth Cobras so am always excited when a new book is released. Please do read them in order, as the team relationships are as much a thread as the new relationships developing.

What Ms. Sommerland does so effectively, is write a story where you cannot determine the outcome until the very end. Undoubtedly you have wishes and hopes, but nothing is ever as simple. And the point of realisation often turns on something minor – but crucial.

The dynamics of each scene are finely balanced and the erotic skills of these players are fully explored. At the same time, there is a subtlety that allows for imagination to run riot too. I would challenge anyone to remain unmoved.

The hockey is also a key element to the tale, and always exciting to read.

Only problem now is the wait for the next book – but I can always reread the feast of stories we have already.

Tell you about me? Hmm, well, there’s not much to say. I love hockey and cars and my kids…not in that order of course! Lol! When I’m not writing—which isn’t often—I’m usually watching a game or a car show while networking. Going out with my kids is my only downtime. I get to clear my head and forget everything.

As for when and why I first started writing, I guess I thought I’d get extra cookies if I was quiet for a while—that’s how young I was. I used to bring my grandmother barely legible pages filled with tales of evil unicorns. She told me then that I would be a famous author.

I hope one day to prove her right.

Deep Dark by Laura Griffin Blog Tour

A gripping new romantic thriller from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Laura Griffin...

The moment detective Reed Novak steps onto the crime scene, he knows the case is going to rock his world. A beautiful young woman murdered at home. No sign of forced entry. No motive. She’s obviously not the killer’s first victim, and Reed’s instincts tell him she won’t be his last. Reed’s first clue comes via a mysterious text that links to a dating profile, but even more intriguing than the clue is the person who sent it.

As a white-hat hacker in the Delphi Center’s cyber investigation unit, Laney Knox sneaks into some of the deepest, darkest corners of the Internet looking for predators. Laney would prefer to stay away from Austin PD’s most recent murder case, but she can’t ignore the chilling similarities between that crime and her own brutal attack years ago. Laney offers to help the sexy lead detective, but he wants more from her than just a promising tip—Reed wants her trust. Laney resists, but as their relationship deepens she’s tempted to reveal the closely guarded secrets that could make her a key witness…or the killer’s next victim.

Reed watched her, and she had that frustrated look in her eyes again. Every time she started to open up to him, he did something to tick her off. She shook her head and glanced away.

“Laney?”

“What?”

“I’m a detective. It’s my job to ask questions. To push.”

She looked at him again and her expression softened. “No, you’re right.” She glanced down at her beer bottle and picked at the label. “I’m glad she has you.”

“Who has me?”

“April. You seem--” She paused, like she was searching for the right word. “--committed.”

He didn’t answer. It wasn’t really a question, but the way she looked at him gave him the feeling she wanted a response.

She drained her beer and plunked down the bottle. “I should get home.” She stood up.

Reed stood, too. He left a tip on the table and followed her through the throng of people. The bar was packed, and the music had gotten louder since they’d first walked in.

They stepped into the warm, muggy air. It was dusk now, and a neon Lone Star Light sign cast a blue-and-red glow over the sidewalk. As they walked in silence, he thought of what she’d said about her job being meaningful. It was refreshing. Maybe he’d been a cop too long, but he didn’t know anyone who talked about things being meaningful anymore. If they thought about work in those terms, they kept it to themselves.

Maybe he was jaded.

No, he definitely was jaded. But it had more to do with his failed marriage than anything he’d seen on the job.

Reed spotted her little white car and felt a twinge of regret. He’d enjoyed talking to her, enjoyed being near her. And he couldn’t remember the last time that had happened with a woman. Having a beer with Laney had been the highlight of his crap week. Hell, the highlight of his month.

She looked around. “Where are you parked?”

“Around back.”

She gazed up at him. He couldn’t read her expression.

“Thanks for the drink,” she said.

“You bought it.”

He couldn’t read her tone either. The thrum of music seeped through the thin walls of the bar as they stood there in the light of the beer sign.

She stepped closer, and a jolt of heat went through him. She looked up at him with those bottomless brown eyes, and he knew he was in trouble. It was a bad idea to involve this girl in his investigation. Whatever useful info she might have was outweighed by the fact that she was young, and edgy, and he wanted her. And she must have seen something in his face because her eyes sparked.

She went up on tiptoes and kissed him.

Veronica – ☆☆☆☆
As a big fan of TV shows like Bones and Criminal Minds, where we get to see how crimes are solved, this book was right up my alley. The story is dual point of view. On one side we have Detective Reed Novak, assigned to solve the murder of a 25 year old woman who was killed in her own home. On the other side we have Laney, a computer expert and friend of the victim who wants to help solve the murder.

I loved seeing the way one clue lead to another and another. Eventually they realise they have a serial killer on their hands who is using a dating site to access his victims. There were times I was on the edge of my seat and I love that we don't know who the killer is until the author wants us to. This is less about guessing who the killer is and more about watching them figure it out.

Laced through the murder mystery we have a romance. With a 15 odd year age gap between them, Reed tries to resist his attraction to Laney, but their chemistry is strong. I like that none of the romance is over the top. It is sexy without being in your face and doesn't take over the story. The murder mystery and romance are well balanced.

Deep Dark is an excellent read and it is book 10 in the Tracers series. I think it is time for me to go back and read books one through nine.

Stephanie – ☆☆☆☆
This romantic crime mystery has everything I love in a good read! It's a suspenseful nail biter that’s sprinkled with sexy. It's very well written. I think the author did a great job balancing the mystery and suspense, as well as the romance and sexy. I haven't read the other nine installments in this series, but think I just might have to.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
I really enjoyed this story. It is so engaging that it is difficult to stop reading (be warned!) but actually it is a good idea to have some thinking time, as there is a lot going on and some issues, both political and personal, that are interesting to muse over. I can honestly say that I chuckled, worried, empathised (mostly about the renovations and the cost), engaged in happy voyeurism, and immersed myself fully in the romances.

Aidan and Liam...I have to admit that this is the first I have read, but rest assured, I am definitely going back and reading from book one to enjoy these two men getting together and progressing to their current state of happiness. I really loved that there was a stable romance going on alongside the book's plot. It made the story richer and the last few pages had me keen to get hold of the next episode too – I am going to be busy!

Thank you Mr Plakcy for a great read.
