Saving Nico by Danica St. Como

After Marine scout sniper Niccolo Ferrari lost his best buddy, spotter Pietro “Pete” Galletti, to an Iraqi sniper gunning for the bounty on Nico’s head, he goes solo to avoid any more collateral damage. Though he becomes one of the most dangerous snipers in the Corps, Nico’s harrowing experiences leave him psychologically bruised and battered. He comes to the Sanctuary military training camp to decompress, to regain his confidence—and his humanity.

At Sanctuary's front door, he comes face to face with Game Warden Abigail O’Connell; the shock nearly stops his heart. He knows her features like the back of his own hand—she was Pete’s fiancée, the woman in Pete's photos, the woman whom Nico fell for from a distance, who he's lusted after in silence for years.

Abigail swore off men, yet she can’t deny the immediate heat, the unwanted sexual attraction to the emotionally damaged Marine. Nico can’t tell her that he’s her dead fiancé’s best friend. How can he when the urge to take her to his bed, to slide into her body, to stay there forever, is all consuming? If he tells her, he’ll lose her; if he doesn’t, their growing love is a lie.

This story jumps straight into hot, steamy scenes full of dirty talk. Saving Nico is dual point of view so we know right off the bat that Nico is hiding a pretty big secret and knowing when all is revealed the fallout will devastating.

There are also accidents happening at The Sanctuary which turn out to be anything but. As with the previous stories in this series, there is a good mix of heat, romance and action.

I really enjoyed the combination of steam and emotion in this story even if there was the occasional cheesy bit of description in the sex scenes. Saving Nico was a lovely read full of hot guys and strong women.

Rachael☆☆☆☆
I actually found this story really interesting and different and good... even if there was a bit of insta-love mixed in, which normally isn't my thing. There was a lot going on that made the story a real page turner. I loved all the characters. They were all unique in different ways (although most of them were blue-eyed).

While I loved the story and the characters I have to say the biggest down fall for me was that there was a very high repetition of phrases, which was a bit distracting and annoying (like saints in heaven, jesus sweet christ on a flippin' half shell, christly f*cking sake, Crocodile on a freakin' crutch.. but mostly saints in heaven.. gosh I can't say HOW many times that was used).

Then on to the naughty scenes... In my opinion if you are going to do naughty, go all the way. The use of words like 'sex,' 'member,' 'pelvic cradle,' and my personal favorite 'weep hole' really didn't work for me and ruined what could've been some amazingly HOT scenes.

There was a point or two where there was a misalignment of information as well. Where Abby would think about something pertaining to her ex that she shouldn't have known at that point in time.

However, all that being said, the biggest part of the story was good. I enjoyed the flow and realistic feel of the characters.

This was the first story in this series and this author that I've read, but I would be willing to read more from her for sure.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
I've read all the books in this series, and think I possibly love this one the most! And that is really something because they have all been hot and exciting reads. This one though, had me stopping a few times to catch my breath!

The start is a little creepy in a way, and you just know that there is going to be hell to pay when Nico's secret comes out ... but along the way, it is impossible not to see how much he has Abby on his mind, and in his heart. I liked that the man was the smitten one for a change! And, whilst everything seems somewhat sudden, as the story unfolds it makes more sense, and definitely rooting for Nico. Along with the growing romance, we get a good mystery with some clever twists, and – possibly best of all – we see Lorelei, Adam and Lucian, and their growing family.

Looking forward to reading more about these fabulous characters. Thank you Ms. St. Como!

Above the Law by Danica St. Como

When is a ménage not really a ménage?

Officer Abigail O’Connell, Maine Game Warden, and Glennon Garrett, GMG security and surveillance expert, get hot for each other while on protection detail at Sanctuary lodge. After the crisis is resolved, there’s no reason to remain hands off. Hot sex commences, even with Glennon’s shattered leg in a cast and fractured arm in a sling.

When handsome Deputy Joe Collins uses the house key Abigail gave him, he unintentionally observes the couple naked in Abigail’s bed in a compromising position—several positions, actually.

Abigail is Joe’s friend, his buddy; the rule was never hit on each other. Breaking free of her self-imposed celibacy, Abigail is suddenly enjoying hot wild sex with a buff, muscled macho dude. Joe’s difficulty arises not only with jealousy over Abigail going from sexual famine to sensual feast, but with his unexpected attraction to her partner, Glennon.

When the three get rip-roaring toasted on a straight tequila night, Jose Cuervo flies and inhibitions die. How will the two men react to each other—and to Abigail—in the harsh light of day? And who is the stalker in their midst who can reveal their most intimate secrets?

Veronica☆☆☆☆
Three things that I really enjoyed about this book.

Firstly, 3 hot people having naked time together in various ways.

Secondly, I didn't know where the relationship between Glennon, Abigail and Joe was going and I liked not knowing for sure who was going to end up with who.

Thirdly, I liked the uncomfortable interactions the trio had following their tryst. Issues were raised that were difficult to deal with and the avoidance tactics and bad behaviour the trio use to avoid their feelings was very real to me.

But the story isn't all about romance and relationships, there is a murder to solve as well.

Above the Law is another great erotic romance/suspense story and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series, Aloha Man.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the fourth in a series – and it is just as hot and hugely enjoyable, as it follows the existing relationships as well as giving us a new one to care about!

Joe, the delightful Deputy, has been on my radar for a while, but the story takes an unexpected but extremely delicious detour! Hot and steamy, with a strong side of drama and madness; this is a tantalising read indeed. The author gave us the story from a number of viewpoints, so that the picture is clear to us, even if confusing to the trio. And whilst there is a resolution of sorts, I am looking forward to reading the next in the series to see just how it works out long term.

Thank you again Ms. St. Como for some wonderful characters and their adventures!

Bombshell by Danica St. Como

After a volcanic one-night stand at a symposium in L.A., a demolitions expert finds herself partnered with her sexual nemesis, former Navy SEAL explosives expert turned local law enforcement officer. They butt heads during an FBI operation based out of Sanctuary, a paramilitary training camp well hidden in the wilds of New England.

MacBride, sheriff of Catamount Lake, and Keko Holokai, owner of a demolition company and its lead explosives expert, create sparks of the wrong kind as they struggle to discover who paid a local recluse to build a special explosive device—the same type of device that killed Keko’s father—and why.

How can they possibly solve what might be a national security issue, when they can’t stand to be in the same room together?

The same bed? That's another story.

Sheriff MacBride has a mystery to solve when a local is found murdered and bomb making equipment is discovered in his home. The FBI call in Keko, a hot, tough, intelligent bomb expert to help.

MacBride and Keko had recently had a one night stand and when they meet up again the sparks fly. There is fantastic chemistry between these two and lots of dirty talk.

Bombshell is a good erotic romance story mixed with action and is my favourite in this series so far.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the third in this super-hot series set in the wilds of Maine. These ex-military men are so hot that I am surprised Sanctuary hasn't burned to the ground by now! I do think this would read well as a standalone, but really you would be missing some great stories if you didn't read the others too.

Whilst it is not the first time that a plot uses the device of an unexpected re-encounter with a one night stand, this one works so well, as the disbelief is both about the person and the role. It also plays very well into the multicultural slant that this series of books has taken. I like the level of mystery in these stories – enough to be exciting, but not too scary (I am a bit of a wus). And I most definitely like the level of hotness – scorching!

I believe Ms. St. Como has once again written a really good story with a hot bite of pleasure for us to enjoy.

Hunting April by Danica St. Como

In the wilds of Maine on her way to complete an assignment, CIA Clandestine Ops agent Lorelei Randall is ambushed and nearly killed. She is rescued by retired Marine scout sniper Adam Stone and his spotter/partner, Lucian Duquesne, and taken to Sanctuary training camp. The men care for her, and sexual heat quickly develops between the three.

Unable to choose between them, Lorelei ultimately accepts both hard, muscled, determined men as her lovers—which puts her assignment, and her life, at further risk. With Lucian as their anchor, Lorelei experiments with both him and Adam, singly and together, realizing she's been missing such hot, over the top, ramped up sex. Although the men do their best to protect her, she stubbornly insists that she is totally capable of caring for herself. But changing the game plan at the last minute, her stubbornness places her at the wrong end of an assassin's gun.

Veronica☆☆☆
April is on the run from her abusive fiancé who is also a mobster. April is a strong beautiful woman who has very low self-esteem when it comes men and my heart went out to her.

With two hotties, Glennon and Daniel, protecting her I really wasn't sure who April's ultimate love interest would be or if she'd end up with both guys. This story kept me guessing.

Hunting April is a steamy erotic romance with some action throw in. Easy and entertaining reading. I will definitely be reading more of this series.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the second in the series, and I enjoyed the first – Strength of Arms very much too.

I have to confess that I became very attached to Glennon, so when Daniel came on the scene I wasn't quite sure what to think … and after they take a trip and mention Adam, Lucian and Lorelei's relationship, I thought I must have missed the link between the men. However, as you will find out, all resolves itself in a good way, and leaves doors open for future relationships – which is good news with such a great series of books developing. I liked the level of suspense – which I would say was high, but not too scary (on my rather wimpish scale!). I enjoyed the level of sexual tension and chemistry, which was definitely high (on my rather demanding scale!).

Thank you Ms. St. Como, for a really good read.

Veronica☆☆☆☆
When CIA agent Lorelei crashes her car and is almost killed she wakes up in the house of two hot marines. Need I say more?

Lucien and Adam are both drawn to Lorelei and she is drawn to them. Lorelei does what any smart girl would do, she has them both. The men, who have never shared a women, have to deal with their own issues and insecurities and learn to share. While this is going on they have to figure out who is trying to kill Lorelei and help her complete her mission.

This story is told from the point of view of each of them which worked very well. Lucien is easy going and affectionate while Adam is the brooding silent type.

This is a sexy read with smart characters and a bit of action thrown in. Strength of Arms is an entertaining story.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
I am a firm fan of ménage romance, so it was no surprise that I found this a really enjoyable read. The fact that it had two retired marines and a covert CIA agent as leads ensured that there was also a back story! I loved the details of Lorelei's previous encounters; and marvelled at how well she took to being the centre of attention! The chemistry between the three of them was sizzling, and the twist at the end was great.

This was a fun read, with lots of hotness, and I look forward to future releases of Ms. St. Como's work.

Wicked Reads Reviews – Aloha Man by Danica St. Como

Hawaiian demolitions expert Kamaka decides to take charge of his life, and spends a long winter at Sanctuary paramilitary training camp revamping himself from soft and mellow to hard bodied and focused. When Kamaka is introduced to exquisite Navajo silversmith Zachariah Black Crow, his heart damn near stops and his libido kicks into overdrive. Kamaka is convinced the Island gods have bestowed upon him the greatest gift the earth has to offer--all Kamaka needs to do is convince the younger, over-the-top handsome man to come to his bed. Freely. Willingly.

Zach, shy and withdrawn, avoids entanglements with people he doesn't know. A victim of a brutal attack in his college days, he focuses on his art to help deal with the nightmares. He's never had a relationship, male or female, so his newly awakened sexual interest in Kamaka confuses him. Should a man want to submit to another man, the way he wants to submit to Kamaka? Can he be the responsive, giving lover Kamaka needs, the man Kamaka desires?

Note: Although this is the 5th book in the Men of the Sanctuary series, it is the first to be released with Loose Id and may be read without having read the previous books. We will be re-releasing the previous books in the series.

Angie☆☆☆
Kamaka didn’t use to be built and focused; he was hurt by a past boyfriend but has learned from it and improved himself and his outlook. Zachariah is a silversmith and meets Kamaka at a fair where Kamaka falls in love with one of his pieces. It is instant love for Kamaka and he just needs to get Zach on the same page. I had not read any of the previous books in the series and it didn’t really seem to hamper my reading experience. The story was good but I just couldn’t get over some of the dialogue. Kamaka talked like a teenager and it just drove me crazy. There wasn’t a lot of depth when it came to Kamaka, but with Zach we knew all kinds of things and what he was struggling with. Maybe it was because I didn’t read the other books I didn’t feel like I knew Kamaka or it was simply that his way of speaking distracted me. The plot was good and so was the ending.

Characters: The characters were well written and believable.
Sex: Yes
Religious: No
Would I recommend to others: Yes
More than one book in the series: Yes
Genre: M/M/Romance
Would I read more by this author: Yes

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is one of a series, but this is the first I have read – I will be going back and catching up, as soon as I get a chance. It will be interesting to see how we reached this point. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed it in its own right.

The first chapter I was concerned that the dialect employed was going to make this a struggle – but it ended as soon as it began, and after that, it flowed well. I did have to laugh at Zach constantly correcting grammar, as it was highly annoying (and is something I have got to stop myself doing, now I've been confronted with it in print!)

There were some lovely side characters that added a lot to the meaning of the story, and made the events believable. It was a mix of highly intense romance, sweet family moments, and disturbing drama. The heat factor ramped up nicely, as did their attempts at envisioning a future together – whatever the nightmares of the past had been. I also enjoyed the spiritual sides, both from Hawaii, and Native Indian.

If you like stories which promise a real HEA, with compromise, honesty, and family, then this should work for you.
