Hotshot by Lane Hayes Instagram Tour

Blog Tour. Lane Hayes’ Hotshot. The Elmwood Stories Book 5.

The rookie superstar, the desperate cowboy, and a naughty proposition…

DENNY

The press calls me this year’s hot shot, the rookie who scores at will and conjures plays out of thin air. Truth is… I’m a PR nightmare. Seriously. Ask my agent.

My anxiety is off the charts. I can’t talk to the media without breaking into a cold sweat, but once I get through the season, I can regroup at home. Life is simpler in Vermont.

Well, not anymore. There’s a new cowboy in town. Literally, a cowboy. At least, Hank looks like one—he owns a horse, wears a hat, and did I mention he’s hot?

And get this… he has a proposition for me.

HANK

Proposition is a strong word. I prefer to call this a mutually beneficial arrangement. See, I could use Denny’s help with a family business venture, and though I was planning to offer cash, the jock has a sexier idea.

Not gonna lie, I’m interested.

This could be a fun distraction while I’m stuck in Elmwood. Nice enough place, however, the locals are wary of an outsider taking over the neighboring mill. Long story short… they don’t trust me. But they love their hometown hockey hero.

I get it.

I’ve never met anyone like Denny—skittish in street clothes and a feral beast with cunning instincts on the ice. He’s fascinating, sexy, smart, and—

Whoa! I’m not falling for the hotshot rookie. No way, no how, no chance…

Too late.

Hotshot is an M/M bisexual, age-gap, small town romance featuring a hotshot rookie, a sexy cowboy, and a proposition that changes everything.

“Let’s get this over with. What did you want?”

“Ouch. I can’t remember the last time anyone was happy to see me,” he groused without heat. “Except Steve the contractor. He likes me okay, but he’s being paid well. Our employees do well too, but sadly, they don’t like me at all.”

“I can’t help you with that. Sorry.”

Hank sipped his beer and shrugged. “Yes, you can. I’m extorting you, remember?”

“Oh… yeah.” I chuckled.

And fuck, I didn’t want to be amused. I didn’t want to like Hank at all, but it was hard not to appreciate his self-deprecating honesty. He emanated “nice guy” vibes with the right amount of edge. No wonder drunk me had gotten flirty with him. Fortunately, sober me knew he was more than I could handle.

Which was fine since Hank wasn’t interested anyway. He wanted my alleged star power, not me.

So why was I grinning like an idiot?

Fuck, I had a bad feeling my eyes were twinkling too. I had to rein that shit in, stat.

“So… let’s make a deal,” he said, thankfully unaware of my inner detour. “I need an Elmwood buddy. My dad gave me the all-clear to make my offer sexy, so… what’ll it be?”

I bugged my eyes out. “Sexy?”

“Yeah, something interesting. If it’s money, name your price. Tell me what you want in exchange for your time.”

You.

The word tripped to the tip of my tongue. I bit it back and swallowed it, clearing my throat to be sure it was gone.

“I just… want to make sure that whatever I blabbed while I was wasted off my ass stays between us.”

“Yeah, but I’ll do that for free. You can trust me.”

“I don’t know you,” I retorted.

“True,” he conceded, sipping his beer. “But you don’t really have a choice. I can’t prove that I won’t sell you out. It’s a trust thing. Let’s talk about the sexy angle, ’cause I need an Elmwood buddy like yesterday.”

“I can’t believe I’m asking this, but… what does an Elmwood buddy do?”

“He shows the new guy the ropes.” Hank leaned in. “Introduce me, give me tips on who’s who and what to avoid. I suck in Elmwood and I need a champion, a liaison… a friend. That can be you.”

I huffed in amusement, feeling strangely at ease. He was charming as fuck and I was not immune. “How can you suck in Elmwood? Everyone is cool there.”

He slumped on his stool. “I don’t know, but I’m even worse in Wood Hollow. I don’t get it. People in Denver like me just fine. Even you like me.”

“No, I like your hat.” I reached for his water and winked.

I fucking winked.

Me.

That was me flirting. Ugh. Bad, Denny. Bad.

I felt surprisingly relaxed with him. Like I had last weekend when I’d spilled my guts and… other things. The point was, I could talk to him without feeling immediately depleted, and that alone was a minor miracle.

Hank kicked my shin playfully. “Nah, you like me. You did last weekend, anyway.”

“I was drunk, and I’m still mortified. Go easy on me.” I took a swig of water as if I were knocking back whisky.

“I’ll try, but… you shook your dick at me, then fell buck-ass naked in my bed, so c’mon.”

My eyes had to be saucer-sized. “I shook my dick at you?”

He inclined his chin and winked in a touché move that made my cock swell against my zipper.

“A week later, I’m still thinking about it,” Hank drawled.

Whoa. Was he serious?

“You be the hotshot. I’ll be your compass, your home.”

This is the fifth book in the series, and I would definitely recommend that you read them in order, as it will make much more sense of the set up in Elmwood – and why Hank is so unpopular, and why Denny is a local hero!

Hank is helping out his sick father by working at their newly purchased wood mill in the next town over to Elmwood. He has a challenge to improve the popularity of the Cunninghams and reassure the locals that they are not a huge and impersonal corporation about to destroy their town. His secret weapon is a friendship with Denny, local NHL rookie hero, assuming he can persuade Denny to engage.

This plan turns out to be a good one, when the two of them find a strong attraction and a hockey player who is interested in exploring his options as a bisexual man, and Hank could definitely help!

I really enjoyed the growth of their friendship as well as their burgeoning attraction and experimentation. It is fun watching what we can clearly see is the start of a meaningful relationship, even if they are slower on the uptake. Grams, of course, is seeing it all and there to support Denny when things get complicated.

It was great fun to see the couples from previous installments and to enjoy quite a lot of hockey action too!

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Hotshot is the fifth book in The Elmwood Stories series. It can be read as a standalone without issue.

Denny has a lot of baggage from his childhood. He suffers from anxiety and can't talk to the press at all. He's the rookie hotshot who has a promising career, but his anxiety may be his downfall. He's also very deep in the closet. He comes back to Elmwood as often as he can. It’s where he can relax the most. One night he drinks too much at the bar and accidentally ends up in the hotel room of the sexy cowboy, who is new in town. Nothing happened but Denny really wanted it to.

Hank is only in Elmwood for a short time. He has his own life and horse therapy business to get back to. He'll stay in Elmwood long enough to get his father’s mill up and running while his dad is recovering. The idea is to meet the town's hockey hero and have him do a commercial for the mill, letting the town know if their hero accepts them, they should too. But meeting a drunk Denny doesn't go the way Hank thought it would. When he proposes the commercial to Denny, Denny instantly says no, but after seeing sides of the man he doesn't think many people have, he thinks maybe they can help each other. Hank brings his horses to Elmwood to use as therapy to help Denny with his anxiety and to use as a cover story why they are spending so much time together. Denny can help Hank be better liked in the community and Hank can show Denny what being with a man is like.

I loved watching Denny and Hank's relationship grow. Their chemistry was explosive but the way they spent time together on the horses getting to really know each other on a deeper level was so addictive about this couple. I hope there is more to this series. I loved this little hockey town!

Angie☆☆☆☆
This is the fifth book in the series. I have only read book four, which I really liked. This book was just as good. You could read it as a standalone, but we met Denny in book four when he was younger.

Denny is one of the many famous local hockey players. Hank's father bought the mill a few towns over. Elmwood is this little town that just seems amazing, and those townspeople will have your back and support you like crazy. Hank and Denny meet when Denny is drunk as can be. Hank offers Denny a proposition he hopefully won't refuse. Denny accepts and we get to see not only Denny testing out his bi side, but we see a friendship between him and Hank.

Elmwood residents aren't fond of Hank, but Denny introduces him to people and Hank charms them and they slowly begin to like him. We see characters from previous books and, of course, Denny's grams is there as sassy as ever. Love that woman.

Things, of course, get hot and heavy and go further than Denny and Hank expected and probably wanted. Watching their love build and grow and all the bumps along the was great. I cried when things looked bleak but soon my tears dried up and everything fell into place and our men get their happily ever after. Highly recommend this book.

In a twist, I was still capable of doing the stupidest things… like falling head over fucking heels for a hockey star.

Thin Ice by Lane Hayes Instagram Tour

Now Available. Lane Hayes’ Thin Ice. The Elmwood Stories Book 4.

The hunky dad, the hockey coach, and a new start...

BRYSON

Elmwood isn’t good for my love life. Hey, I’m a positive person and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about small-town living, but I haven’t had a date in years. That’s fine—my son is and always has been my number one focus.

Except now he’s grown and gone. And it’s lonely.

Okay, yes, the new hockey coach is hot and single, but he’s off-limits. Smitty’s trouble with a capital T, and his baggage might outweigh mine. Besides, we said nothing would happen after “that” night. It was a one-time, never to be repeated deal.

At least… that’s what I thought.

SMITTY

Am I sad about retiring from pro hockey? Honestly, no. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t in pain. I need a rest and I could use a distraction from unwelcome memories at home. Stat.

So… Elmwood.

Look, we all know I won’t last a whole season of coaching high school kids, but stepping in till they find a better candidate is a good temporary plan. And Bryson’s here.

There’s something about the hot dad with the sunny smile and bad dad jokes that makes me feel alive again. I’m not in the market for forever—been there, done that. Look, I’ve taken risks for my sport, but I’m not giving my heart away again. I know thin ice when I see it.

Or do I?

Thin Ice is an MM bisexual, age-gap, small-town romance featuring a silver fox dad, the new hockey coach, and a fresh start on solid ground.

Smitty gamely followed me to the next vignette at Pinecrest’s premiere home and furniture boutique. “It’s a coffee table, Bry. It serves two functions—a footrest and a place to leave dishes… and the remote control. Anything is fine.”

“Yeah, right,” I huffed. “Somehow I doubt the guy who couldn’t live with yellow walls and had lots of opinions about the sectional he special ordered doesn’t care about the coffee table that will go in the same room.”

Smitty darted his gaze around the store and leaned in close. “Places like this intimidate the fuck out of me. It smells like a perfume factory and everyone is smiling… but their eyes are dead. Like they’re zombies. Is this a Pinecrest thing or a bougie thing? I don’t do well with hot cotchure.”

I burst into laughter. “Haute couture?”

“Sure, whatever.”

I brushed my hand against his in a show of solidarity, then linked our pinkies for a brief moment and pointed at a handsome dark-wood coffee table with a wide base. “What about that one?”

Smitty shrugged. “Looks nice.”

“I think so too.” I clandestinely checked the tag. “Yikes. It’s pricey. Let’s keep looking.”

“Do they have a coffee table with cupholders?”

“Absolutely not, and why would anyone want a cupholder in a coffee table?”

Smitty widened his eyes comically. “Are you kidding me? Why would anyone not want a safe place to plop a cup? You never have to worry about spilling a drink or knocking it over, and you wouldn’t have to fumble for it when you’re watching a game, ’cause your cup is right where you left it.”

“Okay, that’s a whole lot of nonsense. And thankfully, a moot point.” I glanced at our surroundings as if to be sure that was true and noticed the salesperson watching us from the register. I couldn’t remember her name off the top of my head, but I was pretty sure I’d sold her and her partner a house two years ago. I lowered my voice and added, “They don’t have such a thing, but even if they did, I’d stop you from buying it.”

“How? I’m bigger than you. And I’m fast. I could whip out my credit card in a flash and shove this fucker into my truck before you could say ‘No, bad table!’”

I like you. I like us. I wish… I wonder… maybe there’s a way to make this work.

I haven't read any of the previous books and I didn't feel like I was missing anything, so this could be read as a standalone.

I instantly loved Bryson and Smitty. These two were H.O.T. right from the start. I don't usually like books that involve sports, but this one was a good balance of hockey and the relationship between Bryson and Smitty. Each man has baggage that they carry from their past and they both need to work through that baggage. The chemistry is off the charts and the sexy times are steamy!!! There was very little angst, and the story was well paced. I actually didn't want the book to end. The day after I finished the book, I was actually sad that I wouldn't be reading about Bryson and Smitty again. And O.M.G. that epilogue!!! Great book, highly recommend.

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Thin Ice is the fourth book in The Elmwood Stories series. It can be read as a standalone without issue but reads better when you know the town and its residents better.

Bryson has always put his son first after his divorce. He hasn't had a date in years but that's okay, it's a small town where everyone knows everything. Now that his son is grown and out living his own life playing hockey, Bryson is lonely. Bryson has a one-night stand with his son’s hockey nemesis, Smitty, and he can't seem to get the man out of his head. When Smitty moves to Elmwood in the house across the street and becomes the new high school hockey coach, Bryson doesn't know what to do about his attraction or his son's hatred of Smitty.

Smitty was asked to help coach in Elmwood after his retirement. He's not sure if that is something he wants to pursue until he sees how happy his ex-wife is with her new husband and baby on the way. After the one night he spent with Bryson he’s excited about seeing him again in Elmwood, but Bryson isn't as happy as Smitty would like. But that doesn't stop him from becoming the best friend Bryson could have – and throw in a side of friends-with-benefits and Smitty can't get enough. What he doesn't see coming is the feelings he didn't know he was catching. Can he give Bryson everything he needs when he can't even come out? Is he ready to be out and how will it affect everything he's he worked for?

I love this little town and everything it has to offer. I so enjoy getting to see past couples and getting glimpses of what's happening in their lives. Bryson and Smitty have so much chemistry and they grow together as their feelings develop for each other. Smitty is a fun character while Bryson is a bit of a control freak – it's a fun combination.

I can't wait for more in this series.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the fourth book in the series, and I loved being back with the gang and reading the next installment in this very engaging ice hockey series.

I love how this book starts, setting out the attraction and chemistry from the get go – but also erecting a barrier which is hard to ignore. It sits in our mind as we find them in the same town, with multiple points of contact, but still the issues which need resolution.

Bryson is a super cool dad, and a successful if lonely man in Elmwood – his moment of madness with soon to retire AHL defenseman Smitty is excusable, is it not? But when Smitty ends up living across the road and coaching the school hockey team... how is he supposed to stay away, but how could it ever work? The negotiations, the honesty, and the clear building of a deep and fun friendship is central to this really enjoyable read.

My only complaint... it finished too soon, and I greedily wanted more – hopefully the next installment will give us more of their story, even if only on the sidelines!

He sounded tipsy with desire, but I wanted him drunk with it. I wanted him to use me, take whatever he needed from me.

Next Season by Lane Hayes

Now Available. Lane Hayes' Next Season. The Elmwood Stories Book 2.

The injured hockey player and the grumpy chef…

RILEY

My time playing pro hockey will be up soon. I can feel it. And I’ve heard the rumors: he’s too old, he’s had too many injuries, he’s lost his edge. I don’t want to admit it, but they could be right. Next season might be my last.

Or this season. Because of course, this is when the universe decides I need another concussion. It’s a doozy too—the kind that’s going to keep me off skates for a while.

Which is how I end up in a small New England town in the middle of nowhere Vermont, eating every meal at a diner where a grumpy chef from Quebec makes haute cuisine… and burgers. Jean-Claude is funny and charming and—

Okay, I have a crush on a gay man.

This is a new one.

JEAN-CLAUDE

Confused straight men are entertaining. But Riley is… fascinating, sexy, and curiously vulnerable. His injury has rocked his confidence a bit, so perhaps he’s in need of a friend. Any friend. Even moi.

I’m an unlikely choice, but maybe he just likes my tuna salad.

No… I think it’s me.

And though I’m happy to help him explore his bisexual curious side, I have career concerns of my own. See, the things I love most about Elmwood seem shaky and uncertain, but not Riley. He’s solid and genuine. Suddenly, this temporary secret liaison feels more real than anything in my life.

I need more than this season. I want it all. With Riley.

Next Season is an MM bisexual-awakening romance featuring a grumpy chef, an injured hockey player, and a big HEA in a small town where anything can happen.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the second book in the series, and it will be richer if you read them in order but I am sure you could go back and catch up should you be impatient to start this right away.

Riley had a horrible accident in a game, and though many question whether it is time for him to retire, he wants to go out on his terms, not due to injury. However, a serious concussion that is affecting his vision, is not to be ignored, and he goes to spend time in Elmwood with his old friend, Vinnie, so that he can heal. There he meets Jean-Claude, JC, who is the chef at Nolan's family diner.

These two men form an unlikely friendship – both a little on the grumpy side, both at a bit of a decision point in their careers, and both finding out that it is not too late to fall in love!

Another very enjoyable installment.

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Next Season is the second book in The Elmwood Stories series.

Riley was hit hard on the ice and received a horrible concussion. Everyone thinks he's going to retire but Riley isn't ready to leave the game he loves. He especially doesn't want to go out like this. When his parents are hovering just a bit too much, Riley jumps on the chance to go to Elmwood to heal when Vinnie calls offering Nolan's house for him to stay. Riley is all about superstitions and when he finds out the very interesting French chef at the diner makes amazing tuna salad, he has this crazy idea that it helps reduce his headaches. It has nothing to do with the man he finds completely intriguing for reasons he doesn't quite understand.

Jean-Claude once dated Nolan and followed him to Elmwood to help him change the diner into what it is now. Something about the mountain of a hockey man calls to JC. He wants to help him get better and he knows he shouldn't be flirting but he just can't seem to stop himself. JC agrees to let Riley explore the bicurious feelings he's having but keeping it between the two of them. Riley isn't ready for everyone to know what he's feeling and jumping out of a closet he had no idea he was in.

I so loved this couple, they were really my favorite of this series. Seeing how JC was able to help Riley come to terms with his sexuality and where his career could go. The chemistry was chart topping and they were just so sweet together.

You, Again by Lane Hayes

Now Available. Lane Hayes. You, Again.

The hometown hockey hero and his best friend’s brother…

VINNIE

Hockey is in my blood. I learned to skate before I learned how to ride a bike. I’ve been on a wild ride, playing at the highest level for some of the biggest and best teams in the league. But now it’s over, and I’m not sure what to do with myself.

So I'm going home to Elmwood.

But I’ll tell you what I’m not gonna do—I’m not going to coach my buddy’s junior hockey league. No chance. I don’t know how to deal with kids, and besides, the other coach—who happens to be my best friend’s brother—hates me. With reason.

That may be old news, yet something tells me we’re going to have to deal with the past.

And that's almost as scary as coaching teens.

NOLAN

No, I don’t hate Vinnie, but he drives me nuts.

He’s cocky, goofy, selfish, and yeah… after all these years, I’m still attracted to him. But I’m a responsible adult now. I run my family’s business, and with the help of my ex, I’ve made Elmwood Diner into a New England institution.

So maybe my life isn't particularly exciting at the moment, and maybe Vinnie isn’t the worst. Nonetheless, I have no desire to rekindle a friendship with the hockey hero who no doubt will be on the first flight out of town the second he gets bored or gets a better offer.

And I’m not coaching with him. No way.

Ugh…

I can’t believe I’m doing this again.

You, Again is a male-male, bisexual, best friend’s brother, frenemies-to-lovers romance featuring old friends, a new quest, and a little hockey HEA!

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the first in a series of hockey romances based in the town of Elmwood, and I read all three in one go, which I highly recommend as they work really well together! In this first book we learn about the heritage of hockey in the town, but that the ice rink is definitely past its best, even if it produced some successes – such as Vinnie, who has just retired. He isn't really sure what the future holds, but he has little interest in coaching juniors.

It is a lot of fun seeing his hometown through his eyes, much changed due to him having been too busy to visit for quite a while. And the biggest change? His brother's best friend Nolan's family diner! It has a fancy French-Canadian chef, and a menu to match – although, thankfully, you can still get a burger and shake. Nolan is all grown up and, for some reason, is giving Vinnie the feels... something that none of his female friends have done as yet.

As Vinnie comes to terms with his change in heart over coaching, he also discovers that Nolan makes his heart beat at double speed. I really loved that Nolan was prepared to give Vinnie the opportunity to explore his feelings, without pressuring him. It was very loving, even if neither of them really thought about that at the start.

A very enjoyable read with plenty of hockey and romance!

Shannan☆☆☆☆
You, Again is the first book in The Elmwood Stories series.

Hockey has been Vinnie's life for as long as he could remember. He's had a great career over the last sixteen years. After he retires, the only logical option is to go to his hometown, Elmwood, Vermont, even though he has no idea what the future holds for him. His best friend, Ronnie, bought the hockey rink they grew up playing in and wants Vinnie's help coaching teens. His name alone will help bring in more kids, but coaching teens is not something Vinnie wants, especially when the other coach is his best friend's brother, Nolan, and Nolan hates him for good reason.

Nolan is Ronnie's younger brother and as kids, the three of them did everything together. Nolan knew he was gay when he was younger, and Vinnie was his first crush. Nolan never intended to come back to Elmwood, but the death of his father meant he was needed to help run the diner. Nolan took over the diner and with the help of his head chef, Jean-Claude, they've turned the diner into bigger and better than it ever was before. Nolan helps his brother coach the juniors and being around Vinnie is going to be harder than he expected because Nolan is still completely attracted to Vinnie.

Vinnie and Nolan have a past to work through and Vinnie comes to terms with how Nolan makes him feel. I loved watching Vinnie come to terms with his life post hockey and learn to love coaching the kids. Nolan and Vinnie's relationship was so sweet. Their chemistry was instant and explosive.

I read the series out of order but had no issue. I easily fell in love with this town and the people and couldn't wait for more.

Problem: I don’t know what to do with myself. Helping out at the rink might be my ticket out of here, but nothing is happening fast enough. And then there’s Ivan. No, no, it’s not what you think. We went to school together. We’re acquaintance-friends… nothing more.

But you know, I like him. A lot. He’s funny and relentlessly upbeat. I’m a better person when I’m with him—the kind who volunteers to deck the halls and wrap garland on lampposts and—

Whoa. What’s happening here?

IVAN

I love the holidays! But running the coffee shop on my own during the busiest season of the year is going to be a challenge. And the sudden appearance of my former crush is all kinds of distracting.

See, I spent my formative years mooning over Court Henderson, our high school’s hockey phenom, even though he was out of my league. Thankfully, I grew up and left the silly remnants of my youth behind. Or did I?

Grown-up Court is full of surprises, and under his gruff yet extremely fine exterior, he’s a good soul with a huge heart. He’s charming, sweet, handsome, and— Uh-oh.

My crush is back. Just in time for the holidays…

Holiday Crush is an MM bisexual, small town romance featuring a renewed ancient crush, some mistletoe latte art, and a little seasonal magic.

Court shook his head at my amazing, incredible Christmas tree on his way to the door. “I can’t get over that thing. It’s wild.”

I beamed. “I know. I love it. I buy a regular tree too, even though it’s holiday overkill. But who cares? This is my favorite time of year, and I celebrate to the nth degree!”

He shoved his arms into his jacket, a playful grin on his handsome mug. “And do you celebrate by watching scary movies and stringing candy corn and plastic spiders into garland?”

“No, smartass, but damn, that’s a great idea for Halloween next year.”

He chuckled. “So… what do you do for Christmas?”

I braced my left hand on the doorjamb and cast a quick glance at the fireplace to keep from staring at my guest. Standing a foot apart in the cramped doorway between my foyer and living room felt oddly intimate. Court took up space in my tiny abode, with his broad shoulders, towering height, and big muscles. I was more aware of him than ever. It took me a second to gather my thoughts and remember what we were talking about.

Christmas. Right.

“The usual—decorate my house, string lights outside, drape fresh garland everywhere. And yes, there’s always mistletoe. I also watch holiday movies and listen to Christmas music from mid-November till the end of the year. I bake cookies too, which always turn out to be a hot mess, but baking is festive and fun, and my family and friends are kind enough to compliment me anyway. And… I sign up for every holiday event in town, including the Skate with Santa party at the rink, caroling at Wood Hollow’s Home for the elderly, Toys for Tots Sled Fest next to the Christmas Tree Farm in Fallbrook, and of course, Holiday Bingo. By the way, all of those, including Bingo, have volunteer positions… if you’re interested.”

“I’d rather shovel snow in Siberia,” he deadpanned.

I grinned. “Your holiday spirit needs a tune-up.”

“Yeah, yeah. I don’t do holiday spirit.”

“That’s an awful thing to say!”

“Why? There’s no point. I’m usually on the road, so I’ve never bought a tree and I don’t always remember to buy gifts, either. My brother shamelessly shows me up every holiday. Oren bought our folks an oil painting of their ten-year-old golden retriever a couple of years ago. And it was really nice. I bought Mom the same gloves I bought her the previous year and the wrong-sized slippers for Dad.”

“Oh, dear. Well, I’m happy to help you this year. I’m an expert at gift-giving and—what’s so funny?”

Court’s eyes crinkled in amusement. “You’re Elmwood’s emo elf, aren’t you?”

“Ha. Ha.” I moved by him to unlock the door. “Good-bye, Grinch.”

He snickered. “Later. And thanks for tonight. It was fun.”

“Yeah. It was,” I agreed, smiling as he stepped closer.

This was where I was supposed to shuffle out of the way to give him room to slip outside without letting the cold inside, but my feet were seemingly glued to the floor. And now, we were inches apart. So close I could see flecks of gold in his blue eyes and a scar half-hidden in his left brow. I should have jumped away and laughed off this little dance before I accidentally made it awkward.

Too late.

Ugh. Now I was staring at him and he was staring at me and… his mouth was right there, hovering over mine. I could feel his breath on my lips and smell gin and something woodsy and masculine on his skin. And nope, I couldn’t resist.

I leaned in, set my palm on his chest and pressed my lips to Court’s.

And that was the match that started the fire.

What was it with this guy? I felt so… light with him, so free. My heart soared as if it had wings, and it beat so fast I was actually dizzy.

Holiday Crush is the third book in the Elmwood Stories series. It can be read as a standalone without issue – I have not yet read the first two and had no issue with this read.

Court Henderson just lost his job and fired his agent; with no one beating down his door to add him to another team, his only thing to do is go home and figure out his next steps. Working with a few former hockey players at the local rink seems like his best idea. It'll keep him on the ice and working on his skills, what he doesn't expect is working with small kids being fun for him. Running into Ivan, who owns the coffee shop next to his family's bakery. He finds himself enjoying the time he spends with Ivan and wants more from him.

Ivan has had a crush on Court for as long as he could remember. Having him back in town and finding out he's bisexual is more than Ivan ever expected. Spending time with Court is everything he's ever wanted but he knows his time is short lived because Court will get signed to another team.

I was so invested in this holiday read. Court and Ivan were so cute together and had so much chemistry. I can't wait to go back and read the first two books in this series.

This is the latest in this fun series – mixing hockey stars with small-town life in a very engaging way once again!

Court Henderson has lost his playing mojo, and when his team pays him off and he sacks his agent, he knows it is time to go home to Elmwood and regroup. He finds a welcome from the retired stars who now coach juniors and are reviving the hockey fortunes of his town. He also discovers that the young emo friend he remembered from junior high is now running his own coffee shop, and making very, very good coffee.

Ivan has never forgotten his first crush on Court, but as Court dated a girl, Ivan's heart broke and he got on with his life. Little did he expect to see him again rather down on his luck, but even more unexpectedly, Court's admission to being bi. This blows his mind and annoys him greatly, given that he suffered being interested in guys all on his own when at school. But Court wears him down and they are soon meeting up and enjoying each other's company!

As Court rehabilitates himself, through coaching, training, and volunteering, Ivan is wonderfully supportive and selfless. They make a great pair, and it is such fun watching them develop a close friendship and romance, even if there is a deadline looming... or is there?

Delicious new installment with lots of Christmas magic thrown in!

Ivan oozed joy. And fuck, it felt so good just to be near him.
