M/F Romance
Triggers: Click HERE to see Avid Reader’s review on Goodreads for trigger warnings.

Oliver and Jade are such a sweet couple. While you get the impression that they are both horribly shy, you know that deep down, they are looking for more in their life.

When they are helping to throw a party for abuse survivors, things begin to go wrong. I found that the scary part of the story was very entertaining and well developed. You really didn't know what to expect or who was doing them.

The romance wasn't overdone and had just the right amount of sweetness to not overtake the story. I really liked this one.

Kris☆☆☆
Jade comes from an abusive relationship and seeks safe haven at the community center where she's helping prepare for a Halloween party. Oliver is a big burly, sorta brooding handyman at the center and Jade has had her eye on him for a bit now. Being very shy and quiet she can’t find the moment to talk to Oliver. Somehow, they end up locked in a closet together. Scary stuff is going on in the center outside the closet door but Oliver makes Jade feel safe and secure and the two get down to a bit of "10 seconds of heaven" with a little make out moment. There's some scary stuff going on around the couple, but they find themselves safe in their "unsafe haven." It was sweet with a little scary but nothing that would keep me up at night. Quick easy read.

Step-Lover by Bella Jewel Review Tour

I met him before I knew.

I loved him before I knew.

I didn’t know he was my stepbrother when I fell for Bladen. I fell for a mystery guy who I spent a long, amazing weekend with. Then he got up and left me, without even a goodbye. I was nothing more than a bit of fun.

He broke my heart.

I didn’t see him again.

Until my mom and her new husband, Jack, decide to take us all on a family vacation to the lake so I can meet my new stepbrothers for the first time.

I don’t see it coming.

When he gets out of that car, my world stops. My passionate lover is…my stepbrother.

He isn’t the same man. He’s a prick and he makes sure I know it.

I’m not the same woman. I’m in love with him and I very much plan to make sure he knows it.

He won’t make my life easy. I won’t give up.

This much awaited latest offering from Ms. Jewel, has her once again dealing with a difficult issue. I liked the set up and the execution, reading it cover to cover in one sitting. It has effectively brought up every emotion – I've had tears in my eyes, snort laughed (luckily on my own), cringed, smiled, and wanted to hit the male lead.

I refuse to give away anything about the story, other than I enjoyed it a lot. It is written in a very direct style that soon makes the characters seem familiar and as if you are living alongside them. It is seemingly predictable, but a good few twists are delivered to throw one off the path. Good reading – and ... a promise of another book in the series.

Apparently I have read Fallen Crest High by Tijan too many times because the whole idea of a stepsibling romance isn’t all that shocking to me. I just don’t consider it a taboo subject. And I say this to explain why I’m only giving Step-Lover 3 stars because while the book is well-written, Aria’s constant worry about what other people would think and say got old. The only time her harping on the subject made any sense to me was when she was talking to Ripley and expressed her concern about causing a rift between the families if she and Blade didn’t work out. That was a reasonable concern, but worrying about what nameless and faceless people outside of the family thought, I just didn’t get it.

All that said, Step-Lover was an afternoon well spent. I enjoyed the byplay between Aria and the Hutchens men – Jack included – and how each came to hold a special place in her heart. Personally I found the forming of those relationships and the bonds she built with Jack, Brody and Ripley far more interesting than the back and forth between her and Blade, most likely because Blade acted like a total @ss when they first meet as stepsiblings. When Blade and Aria weren’t fighting the draw between them, they were great together and the sex was seriously hot. But Blade’s need to run and/or lash out once passions cooled got old. Needless to say, when he got over fighting his attraction to Aria I was probably screaming “Hallelujah!” louder than she was because I felt like we could finally get on with the romance.

Suffice it to say, when the romance really begins to blossom I was glued to my Kindle. Naturally Ms. Jewel still does not make it easy for Blade and Aria, but I for one was THRILLED to see Aria jump in to defend Riley. The situation was awful but it paved the way for some major secret revealing that helped unite the family even more. And I had to agree with Blade, Aria’s mom was cool – I just hate that Aria couldn’t seem to remember that because it would have made her life a heck of a lot easier. So aside from feeling like Aria’s concern about what others would say was akin to beating a dead horse, I enjoyed reading Step-Lover and cannot wait to read the next book in the series as I came to adore Aria’s stepbrothers as much as she did, so I’m really looking forward to Brody’s story.

What do you do when you meet a hot guy and spend the weekend with him and then he disappears and you don't even know his name? Aria has had a rough start at life. She lost her father and sister in a car accident and life has been hard on her and her mother. Until her mom meets Jack, he makes her happy which in turn makes Aria happy. Jack has three sons that Aria and her mom have never met. When they all go the lake house for a week in the summer, Aria can't believe her eyes. One of Jake's sons is mister hot weekend, what will she do? When Blade sees Aria he is dumb struck and gets angry. Not sure why he is angry, neither of them gave their real names. While they try to stay away from each other, it seems that life has other plans for them. What will happen when the rest of the family finds out about them? What makes Brody so moody? And what is Ridley's secret? It will take Aria to help the brothers learn to trust someone and tell her their stories. This was a great story and I can't wait for Brody and Melanie's story. I love Bella Jewel's writing style and can't wait to read more from her.

There's just something about a chick that wants to boink her brother. I have to admit the situation was adventurous, Aria finds out a hot weekend spent with a hot guy ends up being too close for comfort. This is why people shouldn't do one weekend flings without learning the name of the guy you’re having hot sex with. I mean what kind of moment would that be when your stepdad introduces you to your new brother and let's just say the situation gets awkward. They both ignore the situation like it's going to go away. I don't see it as taboo but the book was fun and Aria and Blade had smoking hot chemistry. At least that’s when Blade wasn't being a douche. Blade ran hot and cold so much I just wanted to slap him, and I prayed for Aria to kick his ass. I can't wait for Melanie's story, Brody had douche vibes too but he seemed redeemable...... Overall entertainment is four stars!

I have steered clear of the recent influx of step [insert title here] books and only gave Step-Lover a whirl because I enjoy Bella's writing style. I am very glad I gave Step-Lover a chance. This was a book I started and only put down long enough to get a few hours sleep before picking the book up again as soon as my eyes opened.

Aria and Blade have a weekend of anonymous sex and don't see each other again until over a year later when they learn that their parents are married and they are now stepsiblings. The attraction and chemistry between these two was off the charts. The on again, off again, will they, won't they made for a hot, emotional, gripping story.

I also loved the relationship between Aria and her other two stepbrothers, Brody and Riley. There is a real feeling of love and family in this book. This story is about more than the romance between Aria and Blade. It is also about moving on and learning to let people in after tragedy.

Step-Lover is a fantastic read that has left me on a huge high. I can't wait for Brody's story which is due out later this year.

Shannan☆☆☆☆☆
I LOVED Step-Lover! I read it in a few hours, once I opened it I couldn't put it down. I know the Step genre is blowing up right now but honestly this is much more a love story with some angst thrown in than a taboo affair.

“We don't need names. I am whoever you want me to be.”

When Aria meets a sexy hot boy in a bar they have an instant connection. She spends an amazing weekend with him, at the end of that weekend she woke up alone and without his name. She will always remember the amazing time they shared. He will always be “What's his face...the one that got away.”

She meets him again at her stepfather’s lake house. She's never stopped thinking about Blade, he's always held a spot in her heart...until she finds out he's her new stepbrother. Now what? She can't ruin her mom's happiness. She can't be with him, can she? He pulls, she pushes. He pushes, she pulls.

“I need you to really want this, because I can't take you walking away again. So I'm asking you. If you want this, stay, because I can't go through it all once more.”

I definitely cried more than once through this. Ms. Jewel has a way of pulling you into the story. You feel each emotion. I loved the past and present chapters. The beginning with Aria's Dad and sister killed me. Riley's story broke my heart. I'm so happy this will be a series. I can't wait to learn more about Brody and Melanie and hopefully Riley.

Angie☆☆☆☆
This is by far my favorite book dealing with stepsiblings. I laughed, I cried and at times I wanted to reach through my Kindle and strangle someone. The sex scenes were hot as well. My only complaint was it was over much too soon. I can't wait to read the next book, I loved Brody and can't wait to read his story.

Cover Reveal – Step-Lover by Bella Jewel

You’ll only ever have one forbidden love.

Care to know why?

Because when you find it, forbidden love that is, you’ll forget everything else. You’ll forget your first kiss. You’ll forget the first boy who made you smile. You’ll forget all the bad, and remember all the good. You’ll forget that it’s wrong. You’ll forget that it hurts. You’ll forget everything that came before him.

Forbidden love, it has a way of changing you. The secrets. The lies. The guilt. You want something so much you no longer care about the world around you. The passion takes away the pain. I’ve felt it. I’ve lived it. I didn’t need it, but it chose me.

I met him before I knew. I loved him before I knew.

I didn’t know that he was my stepbrother. I knew I had stepbrothers, but I didn’t know he was one of them. Now I know, I have to walk away. My mom, she deserves this happiness so much more than I do. If she ever knew…it would destroy her.

You have to understand why.

I saw my father die right in front of my tiny, eight year old eyes. He took my sister with him. All that’s left is my mother and I. She’s found her happy place, the only place she’s had since our worlds were destroyed.

So you see, I can’t have him.

I can’t want him.

But there’s this problem with passion, and love, and destiny.

It doesn’t give you a damned choice.

Wicked Reads Reviews – ‘Til Death: Volume Two by Bella Jewel

You know how it went for me.

You know what he did.

You know the fire he left inside my soul when he crushed me into a thousand tiny pieces.

Since Marcus, my life has been a blur of emptiness.

Since Marcus there has been nothing.

I’m alone, my Mom is dwindling and I feel nothing but emptiness. I work long, I work hard, but why? There’s no longer anything to fight for.

I know I have to face him. I know I have to go back. To fix my life, I have to break my ties to him.

Seeing Marcus again will destroy me, but it’s time to finish this.

I don’t expect the bitter, twisted emotions I’ll feel when I see him again, and when I lose everything once more, because of him, the only thing on my mind is revenge.

But how do you hurt someone you still love so deeply?

How can I still care for a monster? How can he still make me feel?

Our story is the most complicated of them all, it’s far from beautiful, it’s far from perfect, it’s just a twisted mess of emotion that neither of us knows how to fix.

But we will fix it. You’ll see.

I think this was the perfect ending for Marcus and Katia. The hate, the angst, the pain made for such an emotional read. Again Bella Jewel sucks you into the world she creates and leaves you there aching to find out how it all ends. I had such hate for Marcus at the end of volume #1 and at times I hated Katia for her selfishness. More times than not I found myself cheering for them. This was a fantastic ending.

I have to say I am over the male models on covers but something in this one is extremely sexy. The simplicity of it makes it very appealing.

I can't wait to pick up the Jokers’ Wrath series, how did I miss these??? I need to find out more about JC, with one little mention Ms. Jewel has me one clicking away!

Johanna☆☆☆☆
Love the cover, from red to blue. This book had some shocking moments, and it finished the story really nicely. The book starts with Marcus realizing the course of his actions, and trying to reconcile by finding Katia. It's nice to see he's not such a block of ice, but I hardly felt pity for him. Katia has a surprise of her own, which I'm sure can be seen as a spoiler so I won't list it. After she comes to the realization that she needs closure, these two meet again with feelings that can be seen like fire and ice. Hate really is the flip side of love, and the more you hate, the more you are capable of love. We see them go from one extreme to the other in a battle to end all the battles. I really liked the ending and I would definitely read more from this author. Overall entertainment is four stars. Great book!

Mary Jo☆☆☆☆
Almost two years have passed between books 1 and 2. The story is told by both Marcus' and Katia's POVs which is okay, but the time jumping between chapters did not make for a seamless read for me.

What I loved about this book is the emotional journey that author has written for both Marcus and Katia. Each of them have something to learn, something to lose and something to hide. Will the secrets they carry cause them to lose the one thing that means the most to them?

Ms. Jewel has written a story that had me rooting for a HEA even though the odds were stacked against them.

Veronica☆☆☆☆☆
Get the tissues ready because you going to need them. ‘Til Death Volume Two is a very emotional story.

Two years have passed and Katia's life is very different. We see a different side to Marcus and Katia and it isn't all good. Ms. Jewel does a fantastic job showing us that people are not all good or all bad, we are a mix of the two. None of us are perfect.

The disaster that is Marcus and Katia's relationship had my emotions all over the place and I wasn't sure what kind of ending we were gonna get. Some books you can see the ending coming but with this one I was guessing right to the end and it was fabulous!

The conclusion of Katia and Marcus’s story ripped my heart out and left me a blubbering, emotional mess. I loved every second.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆☆
This is the second and final book in the series – whilst probably still enjoyable on its own, it would be a million times better if you read book 1 first!

I thought that the first book was inspired, and much as I dislike roller coasters, it was one that could not be exited. That ride two was probably even better, was just the adrenaline rush that I desired. The very brokenness of the whole story just worked so perfectly. I really can't say more without feeling like I have revealed something that you need to discover for yourself! Just believe me when I say that you DO want to know how this story ends.

Shelby☆☆☆☆
‘Til Death Volume Two is a continuation of the 1st part (this really shouldn't be read as a stand-alone). As both Marcus and Katia are moving on with their lives in the aftermath, you see the good, the bad, and the ugly.
It's amazing the lengths that people are willing to go in order to feel vindicated!

I enjoyed this book, it wasn't anything like I was expecting and it was refreshing. I came to care about both characters and understood them (not that I agreed with either).
The emotions ran high, the erotic scenes were scorching, and overall I couldn't put this down. I laughed, I cried, and I cheered right through the end. AND I have to say – I didn't see that end coming!
