The Pact by Max Monroe Blog Tour

Available Now. The Pact. Max Monroe. Blog Tour November 15th – 17th.

“I need a ride,” I said to a sexy stranger on a Harley.

Three hours later? A six-foot-tall Marilyn Monroe was officiating our Vegas wedding at the Happy Chapel.

But it’s not love—it’s business—a marriage pact made out of desperation so my career doesn’t go up in flames.

Sure, Flynn Winslow is a hot, broody, mysterious man that women all over the globe would sell their souls to land for real, but I have my eyes on the prize and our marriage arrangement will end in three months with no strings attached.

Right?

Or will it all go out the window when I have to move in with Mr. Mysterious and our fake marriage starts to feel remarkably real?

I wish it were as easy as telling myself, Do not fall in love with your fake husband, Daisy, but apparently, when feelings get involved, not everything that happens in Vegas knows how to stay in Vegas.

Don’t miss our reviews of the rest of the Winslow Brothers series!

Flynn

“Oh my gosh! I’m sorry!” A female voice grabs my attention, and I glance toward the entrance doors of the Wynn to find a blur of wild curls running like a banshee. She bumps into several people trying to get outside, and more apologies blurt from her lips as she almost takes out an older gentleman wearing a cowboy hat.

The man is none too pleased, but his annoyance doesn’t stop her. Out onto the pavement of the driveway, she stumbles a bit on her sky-high heels as she continues her fast-track path to who knows where.

She comes to a halting stop in the center of the entrance driveway, in the middle of cars and only a few feet from my bike, and looks around maniacally with her big green eyes.

What is she doing?

Her breaths come out in harsh pants, and she chaotically brushes pieces of her wild mane of curls out of her face.

“You okay?” I find myself asking, and she snaps her eyes toward mine.

She stares at me like I just asked her to solve an advanced calculus problem, and I lift the visor up on my helmet to repeat my question. “You okay?”

She shakes her head and digs her teeth into the meat of her full, red-painted lips. But just as she opens her mouth to respond, a man in a well-fitted suit comes bursting out of the entrance doors, yelling, “Daisy!”

The beautiful but possibly insane woman shuts her eyes on a heavy sigh, and by the sag in her shoulders and frown on her lips, I have a feeling she’s the Daisy he’s calling for.

“Daisy! Honey! Wait up!”

“Fuck,” she mutters, and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out Crazy Daisy wants nothing to do with this guy.

Maybe he’s the reason for her abrupt departure and reckless sprint out of the casino?

This guy could be her boyfriend. Fiancé. Husband. I don’t fucking know what. But whoever he is, she wants distance. That much is apparent.

And even though I’m supposed to meet my brothers at one of the Wynn’s bars in about ten minutes, the urge to help her is too strong to ignore.

It’s a rare thing for a guy like me, to be honest. I don’t meddle in other people’s shit, but the panicked look on her face makes me want to give her the escape she needs.

But before I know it, before I can even offer the help, she takes it for herself.

One leg over the seat of my bike and her arms around my waist, she leans into my back harshly and declares her intentions without pause. “I need a ride.”

Four Winslow brothers in Vegas for Jude's bachelor party weekend, what could go wrong?
This is the second book in the Winslow Brothers series and is Flynn and Daisy's story. It is filled with emotional scenes, it will have you laughing one minute and crying the next.

Flynn is the more sensible one of the four brothers, he knows he is not getting married, he is not made for it. When he sees Daisy at the slot machine, all that changes. Well, that is at least for a short time. Daisy needs to be rescued and Flynn is more than happy to help.

Daisy is the fun and sometimes crazy heroine, with her internal monologues, hands waving in the air, and walking in circles to talk herself off the ledge, not literally. When she meets Flynn, he is the calm she needs, they balance each other out.

This story is fun, flirty, laugh-out-loud great, and in the end, it's perfect. I cannot wait for the next brother's story.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the second book in the series, and you are in for a treat! I loved Jude and Sophie's story, but I may have liked Flynn and Daisy's even more. The set-up is just so perfect, and the romance so absolutely engaging, funny, and super sexy – especially for two people together on a pact.

I would recommend that you do as recommended by the authors and read this in a quiet and private space – they are certainly right that it is funny, but more than that, it is so engaging that once you start you will not want to be interrupted. I read it cover to cover today!

We get plenty of the whole Winslow clan, with the single brothers being just as zany as ever – Ty really is hilarious. Flynn – the silent one – finally has good reason to speak, and thanks to Daisy, we learn quite a lot more about him. I loved his honesty, which members of his family just didn't believe. And his niece once again provides a lot of humour... be warned. I cannot say more, as I think you need to enjoy it directly.

Another fabulous story and a great addition to the series – that fortune-teller has a pretty good strike rate so far!

Avid Reader☆☆☆☆
M/F Romance

Flynn is the quiet one of the rowdy group of brothers. He is serious all of the time and takes the time to make sure that his brothers don't make too big of oafs of themselves. When he sees a beautiful woman playing the slots, she sticks with him.

Daisy is working and living her best life until a mix up causes her to make the most spur of the moment decision of her life! Daisy is hilarious with her runaway mouth, crazy internal monologue, and sweet demeanor.

Flynn and Daisy have off-the-charts chemistry and they burn up the sheets. But they also have the ability to truly see each other. Not just their outer personality, but who they are underneath that. It was fun to watch Flynn discover a different side of himself and to get to see Daisy open his eyes to what he was missing.

Daisy and Flynn complement each other so well. Flynn is the calm to Daisy's storm and in return, Daisy lights up Flynn's life in a way he never knew he was missing. Sure, he's got a crazy family, but Daisy is a breath of fresh air for him.

I can't wait to see who comes next in this crazy family. You'll fall in love with them, and I highly suggest you read the books in order!

This is the second book in the Unlawful Men series, and it is just as dark and twisted as The Brit; it is not connected, nut there are some mentions throughout.

James "The Enigma" Kelly is an assassin, out to kill those who killed his family. He doesn't have time for relationships but when Beau Hayley loses her mom and is feeling lost because of the injustice, he wants to protect her.

Beau is walking through life, fearful of being in crowds. She wants to know why her mom died and who did it. When she meets James, their connection is so strong she doesn't care what he does for a living, much less his last name.

As they grow closer together, people try to pull them apart. They learn things about each other that don't seem to bother Beau, being an ex-cop, it should.

Two tortured souls playing one deadly game. But who will survive? This is the line you have to ask yourself as you are reading. For me, it was they both have to survive and live happily ever after. This story is filled with pain, intrigue, suspense, loss, and a love that cannot be denied. It was a really good story and I hope there will be more to this series.

With this one, I have done something I rarely do with an Aleatha Romig story. I took my time. A little back story: I had a biopsy done while reading and this story took me away (as with all stories I read) from the worry and waiting for results. The good news, the results were negative.

Now to this awesome story. Author Aleatha Romig has done it again, she has brought to life another anti-hero (or so it seems) with a past that will have you wondering where his life will take him.

Greyson is the kind of guy you will love to hate, the perfect guy for Romig fans. He is strong, independent, trustworthy, lost, and maybe damned. He is also the perfect hero in this story, even though he thought he was sent to rescue Cecilia, after everything they go through, I think she rescued him.

Cecilia is a strong independent woman and when her family tries to force her into something, she refuses. It takes a very strong person to go against the family, but when the family is seriously wrong, Cecilia will fight with all she has to make things right.

This story is filled with suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat until the end, you will be intrigued and awed at the writing of this story. Wondering how it will end and hoping for the best for Greyson and Cecilia.

If you haven't read anything from this author yet, I highly recommend this one. You will fall in love with these characters and this author's writing style.

Okay, so if you've read Romig before, you'll know what I mean when I say that Romig has a way of writing an anti-hero that you can't help but cheer for. Greyson is the guy who you want to root against, but find yourself rooting for. He's complicated, kind, fierce, a little lost, believes he's a lot damaged, and believes he has no heart left. He has lived a mysterious life that you only get glimpses of. Romig has you wanting to know so much more about his past life.

Cecilia is strong, independent, naïve, and unwilling to bend to what her family wants. When she finds herself the object of a kidnapping, she can't help but wonder where her family is. They were always supposed to protect her. She now has to dig deep to find within herself, the will to survive, defy, and thrive.

I loved watching Cecilia and Greyson wind their way through the twists and turns, ups and downs, and complete maze that Romig wrote. It's fun, enthralling, all encompassing, and you won't be disappointed. You'll stay up late, hiding under the covers to finish this one and feel a sense of calm at the end. I highly recommend this book!

Shelby☆☆☆☆
Aleatha Romig's newest book, Kingdom Come, was an interesting mix of darkness, suspense, romance, and light. I felt like I was reading two stories as the beginning half is a world away from the second half.

Cecilia Abernathy is the sole heir to the Abernathy-Dellinger dynasty in New York City. The granddaughter (and daughter) of a very powerful family has found herself in a terrible place and an awful situation. (I will not go into detail, nor will I spoil this story, but I will mention this is the darkest part of this book.) She is strong, resilient, and I instantly loved her.

Greyson Ingalls has a checkered past – we don't really know who he is or what's he's done, but he's basically a mercenary-for-hire. He's introduced himself to the big players in the crime world and has just gotten himself hired for a job that's way bigger than he could've imagined.

I really liked both the main characters; I usually find myself liking one more than the other but that's not the case here. The story was gripping, twisty, exciting, and infuriating, and I really enjoyed it!

Upon completion, I find myself wanting (or needing, really) to know more about Greyson's past. I want to know about his past life and how he got to this point.

I was longing for him. It was as if the energy I’d felt in his touch planted seeds within me.

Jase

Love sucks.
Especially when your own brother and fellow band-mate stole the woman you were in love with.
Sitting in a Michigan recording studio with him, singing lyrics he wrote about her, is a special kind of torture.
The only thing more frustrating might be the producer’s assistant who radiates sunshine and has more motivational quotes than a greeting card company.

Cerys

Love rocks.
Heavy guitars, a voice with the burn of pure single malt, and lyrics that distil the meaning of love are the greatest things.
If only the man singing didn’t have a temperament as foul as the Michigan winter. Jase sitting in her car while yelling at her to get him out of there is a surprise. Why she hits the accelerator and takes him to her father’s cabin on the lake is an even greater mystery.

How was she supposed to know they’d end up snowed in for days? Or that when they got out again, their relationship, and her views on love, would be changed irrevocably?

It's raw. It's real. It's rock and roll.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the second book in the series, and I absolutely think that you need to read them in order. The set up in book one is essential to get the whole dynamic, the problems between the brothers, the relationships across the family, the importance of Nan, and the chance that they finally get to make it big due to, really, a fluke use of one of their songs online.

I love rock star romances; they are often gritty, most often due to drink and drugs. This story deals with the everyday issues of life, as well as the tough life of a band who earn their living working as decorators for an uncle, and lugging their kit around the country when they get gigs. Now as things are about to change, they are in the worst possible place within the band. I love how much detail we get, especially now that we are seeing things from Jase's perspective.

As we learn just how badly treated he was as a small child, it is difficult not to be heart-broken for him. That he got to the stage of being able to be open about it is all thanks to Cerys. She is a really lovely person, beautifully brought to life by the author. I was really invested in her gaining the experience she needed, as well as her getting through to Jase and making him understand how he could marry his talent with the band as a whole. It is delicious that they get to indulge in their mutual attraction, as well as the more practical breakthroughs.

I loved that he didn't suddenly change completely, and his bandmates couldn't quite believe the attitude reversal, even if they had a lot of regret. I am definitely excited to see how the rest of the guys will find their way to calmer lives. Cerys is going to be a great influence, that is for sure.

Really good read, thank you, Scarlett Cole.

Sarah☆☆☆☆
Angry, volatile and acerbic, Jase isn’t great at relationships. At the end of the first book, he had fallen out with his band and his nan was the only person still talking to him. At the start of his own book, it is only his commitment to the band’s record deal that forces him to remain civil with his bandmates. Until Cerys. Cerys sees something in Jase that no one else does and she’s not afraid to tell him some necessary home truths.

I wasn’t quite sure how Jase was going to work as a romantic lead, but he’s surprisingly loveable. Like all of Scarlett Cole’s characters, there is trauma beneath his anger. His story isn’t easy, but it feels truthful and real. Cerys has her own demons and together they help each other make peace with their pasts.

I really love the behind the scenes look at record production and recording. Cerys’ passion for her work is amazing – it’s a process I’ve never really thought about and it was fascinating to learn about.

I love how Scarlett Cole has made this series wonderfully British. The details are exact, and parts of this series feel like a love letter to Manchester. There aren’t many writers who can convincingly switch between countries and cultures like Cole.

Well, it sums up my view on life. That we should all aspire to live a life that is less boring, less predictable. Be bold, and do something amazing. I’ve made some crazy choices. I’ve been a car maker, a consultant, and even a senior executive at a large retailer running strategy. Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada where I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are Scorpios! Yeah, I know! Kinley and Christian met when she was 15 and he was her everything, until it slowly fell apart over the years. With other people getting in the way and causing problems that lead to anger and finally on the road to divorce.

I found myself not getting into the story at the beginning, it seemed slow and not holding my attention. Somewhere around the middle it picked up and grabbed me and turned out to be a good story in the end. I felt the pain and angst for Kinley and Christian.

If you haven't read this author before, angst and heartache are her specialties, but don't let that turn you away, pick it up and enjoy. She is known as the "Queen of Angst."

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Second Chance Vow is told in a dual point of view, which goes back and forth from past to present throughout the book. It is filled with so much pain and angst, but just as much love.

Their marriage was coming to an end and Christian was doing everything he could to save it.

Christian and Kinsey fell in love when they were fifteen and everything was perfect until they were married and fighting constantly. Kinsey thought she was doing what was best for Christian; she knew what he wanted and it was something she couldn't give him. She was trying to do the selfless thing and set him free so he could get everything he wanted. What she didn't realize was everything he wanted was with her.

I was sucked into this one almost instantly. It was heartbreaking seeing what Christian and Kinsey were going through, but it was so sweet and satisfying seeing them finding their way back to each other.

I can't wait to get playboy Jax's story next!!

Excerpt

Permission granted, Eric reaches down and begins untying my right boot, pulling it free. Then starts sliding my jeans down until they scrunch at the bottom. Carefully he frees my right foot from the denim, holding my prosthetic with the other until he can move it out of the way. He gently places the metal contraption to the side, leaning against the couch.

I stare, speechless, as Eric leans forward to trace a finger over my stump. Goosebumps travel down my arms at his touch, and I feel my eyes stinging. “You—you’re not grossed out by this?” I gesture to the mangled stump.

Eric shakes his head, his eyes never leaving the space where my leg was severed. “No, Daddy.” As if to prove his point, Eric leans closer, pressing his lips in the softest kiss right above the amputation line.

I bite my lip until I taste the metallic tang of blood. The tears I’ve held back fall unbidden down my cheeks.

Who is this boy, and how did I get so goddamn lucky to find him?

“You are quite the surprise, Eric.” “A good surprise?” “A very good surprise.”

This book gave me all the feels. Love at first sight, heart melting, heartbreaking, and it felt real. Eric and Sawyer are just perfect for each other. I have started to enjoy this kink and this book was spot on for me. I felt like I was right there with these guys as they made their journey together. It wasn't all fun and games, but neither is real life. Highly recommend this book.

Did I expect him to push me off him, gently but with a grimace of pain? Absolutely. But squeezing my hips so hard I might have bruises in the morning, then kissing me like he was born to own my mouth… that was a long shot even in my favorite fantasy world.

With survival instincts fueled by iced coffee and far too many swear words to rival any sailor, B. Harmony somehow manages to produce (mostly sweet) contemporary MM romance, with plenty of steam.
