The Priest by Tiffany Reisz

Tiffany Reisz’s USA Today bestselling Original Sinners series returns with the long-awaited sequel to The Queen.

When a New Orleans parish priest is found dead of an apparent suicide, the police see no reason to investigate. Private detective Cyrus Tremont knows a cover-up when he sees it, however. A former cop, he’s seen it all... or so he thought.

Clues point him in the direction of Nora Sutherlin, an erotic romance writer who moonlights as a dominatrix. Together, they form an unlikely bond built on their shared need for justice.

As Cyrus is drawn deeper into Nora’s underground world of pleasure and pain, what lines will he cross to discover the truth about the priest? And what will he and Nora do with the truth once they find it?

The Priest is the beginning of a new era for Reisz’s Original Sinners series, and the perfect jumping-on point for new readers.
Note: Our reviewers disagree and recommend beginning with book one, The Siren.

When I saw a new book was coming out from author Tiffany Reisz, I wanted it without knowing anything about it. Having read most of the Original Sinners series, this one was a must-read for me. Even though she says you don't have to read the others to read this one, I would recommend reading the others for the pure joy of them all.

This one started out like a suspense story when a priest is found dead and has Nora's card on him. This leads to a private investigator visiting Kingsley's house looking for Nora. But the investigator is not ready for the likes of Nora, Kingsley, and Søren.

Also in this story, we learn a little more about Nora and Søren and where they go from here, or do they have a future? Will they find out the truth about what happened with the priest? Was it murder or suicide?

If you are a Tiffany Reisz and an Original Sinners fan, then you need to read this one. It has the main trio and a few extras and a few new vanilla characters. So sit back and enjoy The Priest, I loved it and can't wait for more.

The Priest is the ninth installment of The Original Sinners series. I advise against trying to read the novel as a standalone or out of series order. There is too much history and backstory, the entire foundation of the series, where readers would be confused if they tried to jump in at The Priest.

With all that being said, there is a different vibe to this novel, more a mystery to be solved than the angsty drama with a BDSM twist in previous installments (never fret, Reisz still brings the angst when it comes to Nora and Søren). Nora is focused on why an unknown priest called her minutes before he committed suicide, joining forces with a private detective to discover the whys and hows, leading her down a journey of self-reflection.

A who-done-it, let's collect and follow the clues to see where it takes us next, causing me to click the pages at a rapid rate because I too wanted to know what was going on. There was a slight humorous bent, much-needed banter between Nora and Cyrus during the investigation, especially with the darkness revealed.

I'm sure readers only care about Søren and Kingsley. Never fear, Reisz has your back, giving you exactly what you need.

Trying to avoid doing a rundown on the plot, as that would just ruin it for readers. Readers deserve all the twists and turns and revelations without knowing they're coming. Reisz does an excellent job of showing our beloved characters. Nora has done some major self-reflecting, and now sees past events in a new light with new eyes, sees Søren differently. Almost as if sensing that, Søren seems more open with his feelings, balancing out Nora's self-revelations, as he also has a major decision he has to make.

When can I have the next? Hmm? It was amazing to fall back into love with Nora, flaws and all, like a homecoming of beloved characters. I can't wait to see what Ms. Reisz graces us with next.

Oh Nora, Søren, and Kingsley – how I've missed you!!

The Priest, the ninth book in The Original Sinners series, has all the characters you love. It has all the witty banter, the humorous quips, the sass, and introduces a new character: Cyrus. There isn't anything NOT to love about this.

When Cyrus is asked to look into the death of a Catholic priest, as a personal favor, his world is flipped upside down. The fun part is when Cyrus determines that the priest had placed a phone call to a well-known Dominatrix. You can imagine what happens when Nora is involved.

While we have a mystery to solve, and clues to find and follow up on, there are other layers to this story.

Overall, this is a strong five-star book!

I adore this series so much, it is pretty much the case that I prostrate myself before Tiffany Reisz in awe and gratitude. Embarrassing but true – and each new book I war between reading it non-stop and rationing out chapters... I have no self-control, so always go all in. I possibly love each book more that the last, and this one is definitely my current favourite. We not only see Nora in a new light, we most definitely see Søren that way too.

You absolutely should not read this first – the #9 should clue you in on that fact anyway – but I promise that you should not start here for any reason at all.

I am not going to say anything about the story at all – the blurb does more than enough – instead, let me promise you that this will give you all the feels that you want and a lot of the emotion that can on occasion be hidden behind kink. It also has a fabulous mystery which has Nora teaming up with Cyrus – a most intriguing and beguiling man.

Enjoy! And thank you so much, Tiffany Reisz, for giving us another dose of heaven... Please keep them coming – I could read about them sat on the deck in their rocking chairs, reminiscing and be happy!

Picture Perfect Cowboy is a standalone category-length western romance set in Reisz's million-copy selling Original Sinners universe. Although several fan-favorite characters make cameos, Picture Perfect Cowboy is also the perfect jumping-on point for new readers.

Kris☆☆☆☆
I absolute love Reisz and her writing style, anything Original Sinners is usually a must read for me!! But I found Picture Perfect Cowboy to be a bit too "instructional" and overly PC. I constantly felt that Simone was having to defend her position as a submissive and explain to us readers that she's still a strong female. I understand the story was about a newbie dom, Jason Waters, and his inner struggle to reconcile his need to dominate women with his strict family "you don’t raise a hand to a woman" upbringing. To me, it just came off a little too educational at times and a lot less hot. I will say that when they were finally IN a scene and Jason was doing his thing, that was good reading! I did like Simone's feisty character and personal style. Her guiding Jason along in his new pursuits was written sweetly and I did fall for him a bit. Oddly, for some reason, I even found Nora and Soren to be off character, not sounding how they have in other books??!! There is this bonus flogging scene at the end that I was really hopeful about, but even it fell flat for me. Well, you can’t win ‘em all and it's still better to be in Nora and Soren's world than not.

Shelby☆☆☆
Who doesn't love Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners series? I was very excited to immerse myself in the Original Sinners world again. Picture Perfect Cowboy was different than what I expected from this author and series.

Jason is a famous, award-winning, ex-bull-rider from a very conservative family. Being well-known has its drawbacks, and Jason knows all about trying to be the man your family expects. When Jason meets Simone, the big-city girl in small-town America, something just "clicks"...

I like these characters but wasn't fully invested in them, I just didn't connect. I liked seeing the dominant come out to play, I enjoyed reading about him finding his "rhythm". The instructional component of his learning was a bit of a bore, the lack of confidence was just so different than the other dominant types in Tiffany Reisz's books. Simone was the star in this story: she's a professional submissive but isn't a wallflower. She's basically the instructor, but it felt like they were both holding back.

I'm not sure if it's me or the story, but I just couldn't get into it.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is part of the Original Sinners family of books, and as a huge Tiffany Reisz fan I was delighted to get a chance to read it – as anything Nora and Søren makes me happy!

This is a definite departure from previous stories, in that our two favourite characters really only appear briefly, even if Simone refers to them regularly as she instructs Jason in the ways of all things kinky. I rather liked that the submissive is the one not just with the power, but with the knowledge. Jason is very lucky that she is so masochistic that she feels she can trust him even as a newbie. The connection may be instant, but it is fun and light-hearted. It is not a hardcore BDSM story that is for sure.

I found myself somewhat confused by Jason's state of mind in regard of his father's puritanical upbringing. After all, he had been on the bull riding circuit for a long time, and clearly was a successful business man too, so to be so held back by the views and abuse he suffered at his father's hand? It was a weakness which belied his otherwise dominant desires.

Overall, this was a sweet story, with just a touch of Original Sinners to keep us fans interested!

Mary☆☆☆☆
First, I have to say that I love, love, love the Original Sinners stories and knew I wanted to devour this book just because Tiffany Reisz wrote it. But I found my mind wandering at times while reading. I did love Jason and Simone, but it wasn't up to the Original Sinners standards to me.

With that being said, let me tell you what I did love.

Jason is a retired bull rider who had to move to Kentucky to be his own man. Away from his strict, proper family. And the feelings he is having and things going through his mind make him feel guilty. When his friend gets hurt and can't do a calendar photo shoot, Jason does it for him. When she shows up at the library, he can't believe he is about to get naked and have his pictures taken. When he sees Simone, he can't believe how beautiful she is and what she talks about. He invites her back to his ranch for a lesson in kinky fun.

Simone is a professional photographer and a professional submissive, and someone who needs to show Jason just what he needs to let the demons he is fighting go. When she spends several days with him, they both are falling for each other quickly. And she is loving life in Kentucky living on Jason's ranch.

When Simone goes back home to New York, will the demons move back into Jason's mind? Can Simone make Jason see that life is perfect for them with a little kink and a whole lot of love? Will Jason let his family's opinion lose the one woman who is all he will ever need?

If you are a Tiffany Reisz fan, read this one but keep in mind it is more of a softer side of the Sinners than an Original Sinners book. It was good, but not great to me. So read it and I hope you enjoy it as I did, I just didn't love the whole story.

The Chateau by Tiffany Reisz

As the Jack-of-All-Wicked-Trades for a secretive French military intelligence agency, Kingsley Boissonneault has done it all—spied, lied, and killed under orders. But his latest assignment is quite out of the ordinary. His commanding officer's nephew has disappeared inside a sex cult, and Kingsley has been tasked with bringing him home to safety.

The cult’s holy book is Story of O, the infamous French novel of extreme sado-masochism. Their château is a looking-glass world where women reign and men are their willing slaves. Or are they willing? It’s Kingsley’s mission to find out.

Once inside the château, however, Kingsley quickly falls under the erotic spell cast by the enigmatic Madame, a woman of wisdom, power, and beauty. She offers Kingsley the one thing he’s always wanted. But the price? Giving up forever the only person he’s ever loved.

In the novel Story of O, the woman, O, is taken to a château, and the minute she’s inside the house, four men take turns ravishing her. Kingsley wondered if such a thing was about to happen to him now as he waited on his knees in the hotel room. Would he be grabbed, stripped, violated, raped? Myriad lurid scenarios ran through his mind. But it seemed the mysterious stranger had other ideas. He heard the door lock. He heard a woman’s prim footsteps, first on the hardwood floor and then on the rug. Then he sensed her standing directly behind him. He inhaled deeply and smelled lavender water, the kind his mother used to wear.

“Don’t speak,” the woman said. It was the voice from the phone, who'd ordered him to wait at the hotel. “Only speak when I ask you a direct question. I’ll speak in French. You answer in English. If someone is eavesdropping it’ll make it a little harder on them. Do you understand?”

Comprenez-vous?

“Yes,” Kingsley said, en anglaise. He wondered how she knew he knew English. Had his American accent been that convincing?

“I’m going to touch you,” she said. “If you have an objection to that, then I don’t know why you’re here.”

Again, Kingsley did not speak. He had absolutely no objection to being touched. Not by her, anyway.

He waited, eyes closed, and felt a soft touch on his head, a stroke of fingers through his hair.

“You lied to me,” she said.

Kingsley tensed, but didn’t speak. He knew better than to say anything to that sort of accusation.

“You told me you were handsome. You aren’t,” she said. “You’re exquisite.”

Kingsley almost said something to that. Something like, “Will that be a problem?” But she’d only made a statement. Until she asked a question, he wasn’t allowed to speak.

“If I were a painter, you’d be my muse,” she said. “You belong in oils on canvas.”

Not being allowed to say “thank you” to a compliment of that magnitude was mild torture.

She stroked his hair again. His eyes were open, but he couldn’t see her as she stood beyond the farthest edge of his peripheral vision. That explained partly why the curtains had to be closed. Otherwise he could have seen her reflection in the window.

She touched his forehead and now Kingsley felt the silk of gloves against his skin. Her touch was gentle, soothing, and the second he relaxed into it, she put a knife to his throat.

Kingsley froze.

“I don’t want to kill you,” she said.

That made two of them.

“Very good,” she said. “Even with a knife at your throat you hold your tongue. Someone’s trained you very well.”

Kingsley still did not speak. He knew he could overpower her if he needed to, but would she make a fatal stab first? Better to wait it out, behave, play along.

“Someone sent you to me. Who was it and what did he tell you?” she asked. “If you tell me even one lie I will slit your throat. And yes, I will know if you lie.”

She’d asked him one direct question. Therefore he was allowed to speak.

“I’m employed by an intelligence agency without a name,” he said. “French military. Officially unofficial. Leon isn’t my friend. He’s my commanding officer’s nephew. They think you’re holding him against his will. They asked me to get him out. If he wants out.”

“Leon is your commanding officer’s nephew,” she repeated, sounding amused. “So that’s the game, is it?”

“I don’t care about the boy,” he said. Kingsley wasn’t sure what she meant by “the game.” He hoped he lived long enough to find out.

“Then why did you come here?”

“My own reasons.”

“You wish to serve, do you?”

Kingsley whispered, “Yes.”

I have to admit that I have missed a few of the previous Original Sinners books but I couldn't resist this story about a younger Kingsley. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed at all.

Kingsley is a 24-year-old living in Paris and working undercover for the French military. While on medical leave, he gets an assignment to fetch the colonel’s nephew. What he learns is that the nephew is 19-years-old and has left for a place called the Chateau. No one knows where it is or how to get there. The only way to get there is to be accepted and he must call and talk to the madame of the house to be accepted. The call is not that hard but the wait for the return call is a six-hour wait. But Kingsley gets the call and meets the madame at a local hotel. After he passes her inspection, he is blindfolded on the way to the Chateau, so he cannot see where they are going.

Once he arrives, he learns that the women are in charge and the men are the slaves or submissives. He seems to be okay with this to a point. When he meets other women there, they are all beautiful, so why wouldn't the men be okay with the arrangement. When Kingsley finds the nephew, he finds out that he is not being held against his will nor is he a captive. He doesn't want to leave, he is happy where he is.

After Kingsley is sent away, he can't think of anything else but the Chateau, he wants to go back. But he gets an assignment to go to New York. After six months, he is back in Paris and trying to figure out how to get back to the Chateau. He calls the number but there is no answer. As he is walking away, the phone rings and he answers it. It is his way back in and he can't wait to get there.

But he will not be happy with Madame when he learns of the game she will play with him to get him to stay. He has to choose between the one he has always loved and the one he will love in the future. What will Kingsley do? Can he choose the one to make his future what it turns out to be? Will he ever be able to go back to the Chateau?

This story can be read as a standalone, but I would suggest reading some of the Original Sinners, maybe Kingsley's stories, just so you will know what is going on in his mind now. I can't wait to go back and read the stories I have missed. Tiffany Reisz has a way of drawing you into this story and keeping you there until the end and leaving you breathless and wanting more. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Kris☆☆☆☆
I adore The Original Sinners series and all the kooky kinky characters, especially Kingsley! He's such an adorable rogue. This is a story that goes into a time after Kingsley left school and worked for the military. He's pining over Søren and looking to forget the boy of his dreams (literally). The legion sends him on a reconnaissance mission to find his superior's missing "nephew" at what they believe is a sex cult. Kingsley ends up gaining access and meets the Madame. There are some crazy plot twists and turns as the Madame really takes being a sadist to heart and has no issue messing with Kingsley’s head. He falls in love, in lust, and gets Søren literally beaten out of him. The story meanders a bit mid-book and I felt maybe went on a little long, but Kingsley is always fun to read with his hopping bed to bed, so it wasn't too bad. It's meant to be a side story on its own and it achieves that. Fun summertime read!

Are you familiar with the Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz? If not, you NEED to get familiar with the series!! Having said that, I believe The Chateau could be read as a standalone.

This story is about Kingsley, as a young adult. He's been given a secret mission to find and save the Commander's nephew, Leon, who has been "inducted" into a cult.

This story was the perfect mix of kink, mystery/suspense, Kingsley, and comedy! I loved seeing young Kingsley, on his own. Seeing who he was when part of the French Army. Of course, there are references to his first love, but the choices he's forced to make were just heartbreaking (in a good way).

Ah, how I've missed The Original Sinners...

Erica☆☆☆☆☆
Intelligent. Intriguing. Twisted.

The Chateau is the 9th installment of The Original Sinners series, with Kingsley as the narrator. However, it can be easily read as a standalone. Kingsley's dreams may be more enthralling to new readers who have never met or heard the backstory featuring Søren. However, series fans will eat that portion up like candy.

Taking place in the early 1980s in France, the climate and era were completely different than today. Kingsley is young, jaded yet somehow naïve at the same time. He's starved for love, comfort, and attention.

Witty and charismatic, I found unexpected humor during Kingsley's interactions with the underling, but especially when flirtatiously bantering with his love interests. While I believe many will find it a hot book, that wasn't the focal point for me. I absolutely adored Kingsley's interactions with others.

A little bit twisted, my favorite element was how everything fit together flawlessly. Tight and concise, written with intelligence, understanding, and knowledge, The Chateau was a mature book.

Without spoilers or giving away plot points. Kingsley is on assignment, chasing down a nephew who was supposedly brainwashed into a sex cult, by the infamous yet elusive Madame at the Chateau. While he may have found the boy, he also found himself.

To me, it was more mysterious, connecting all the dots, than sexy, which was the perfect mix for me.

The entire series has many twist and turns, but this was the favorite novel of mine within the lineup, with The Prince as a close second. I'm just going to continue to ignore The Mistress's existence. (laughs at myself)

Fans will go nuts by the Søren cameo. My heart kept breaking and repairing as Kingsley had dreams and worked out his feelings for the sadist.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆☆
This is the ninth book in the series – and every loyal fan, like myself, must be in sheer delight at getting more of the story revealed. But if you have never read one before (really? have you been in the Foreign Legion?), then actually this would be a fun place to start, and you really wouldn't be spoiled for then going back to book one. Do be warned though, once you are in, well, it is nearly as difficult to leave as from the aforementioned Foreign Legion! Tiffany Reisz has written a totally addictive, confounding, and extremely erotic series, and long may more books be released.

The blurb gives you the basics – what I think you need to know is that this book is, in part, a vision of what a community run by women might just be like. Okay, a very kinky group of women, but the reversal of power, expectation, and sensitivities is wonderfully imagined, and it does Kingsley a world of good to consider these possibilities. The fact that every game also prods and pokes his masochistic nature is a bonus that he is not slow to appreciate, even when he simultaneously hates it. A wonderful mind game indeed.

I have always loved Kingsley, so was delighted to get to see him as a young man making his way in a world that had been harsh to him from his teenaged years. We also get to understand just how deeply Søren was entrenched in his soul. And at the end we have to think very carefully about the veracity of some statements made, in the light of the way that Madame had been so manipulative... bluff and double bluff!

The eroticism in this book is beautifully understated and I came away far more excited by what I learned about Kingsley than anything else. Be prepared for mind games.

This is the FINAL book in The Original Sinners series.
Is it possible to NOT like Nora? How can anyone dislike Soren?
These characters are just the perfect complement to one another.
I'm not ready to say goodbye.

Eleanor has returned home, after her stay at the convent – this is the story of how Eleanor evolved into Nora: The Queen. How did she become the Top Dominatrix? How did she become an accomplished author? More importantly: Why? – These are all answered.

Perfect – that's really all I can say. This was the perfect conclusion to a fantastic series.

Kris☆☆☆☆☆
Oh Tiffany Reisz...how I love your mind! I just adore Soren, Nora and Kingsley. Another great ride into the world of the notorious Nora Sutherland. White Years installment #4 giving us all kinds of wonderful backstory on how these 3 came to be who they are now. Nora evolving from a 15 year old smitten with her preacher, to his submissive Eleanor to the bestselling erotica author and Domme Nora.

This one starts with Elle, back from her sabbatical after leaving Soren and spending a year in a convent with her mother. She goes back to King's manor to find her next step in life. King wants to make her into a Domme for hire, not just any Domme, the best! This is her journey from Soren's perfect submissive to the most sought after Domme in NY. I always find myself just integrated into these books and these characters and never wanting to leave, just savoring the journey!

The Queen was pure perfection in my eyes.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆☆
This series has had me sizzling with every installment – can it really be complete, can any book end such a complex drama well ... thankfully this does just that and in incredible style. Now I just have to find the time to read the whole as one and possibly go up in flames at the end.

As ever, Ms. Reisz teases and tests the reader along with the players. But we do finally get some more gaps filled in, which I think both help explain some of the extremes, but then amp it up too.

Thank you Ms. Reisz for an amazing piece of writing, which cannot fail to affect the reader.

The Virgin by Tiffany Reisz Is Now Available & Reviewed

The provocative story before the story continues in the critically acclaimed and award-winning series The Original Sinners

For years, Kingsley Edge warned Eleanor the day would come when she, the mistress of a well-respected Catholic priest, would have to run. She always imagined if that day came, she'd be running with Søren. Instead, she's running from him.

Fearing Søren and Kingsley will use their power and influence to bring her back, Eleanor takes refuge at the one place the men in her life cannot follow. Behind the cloistered gates of the convent where her mother has taken orders, Eleanor hides from the man she loves and hates in equal measure.

With Eleanor gone, the lights have gone out in Kingsley's kingdom. When he learns the reason she left, he, too, turns his back on Søren and runs. On a beach in Haiti, Kingsley meets Juliette, the one woman who could save him from his sorrows. But only if he can save her first.

Eleanor can hide from Søren but she can't hide from her true nature. A virginal novice at the abbey sends Eleanor down a path of sexual awakening, but to follow this path means leaving her lover behind, a sacrifice Eleanor refuses to make.

This book answered SO many questions I've had, while reading the Original Sinner's series.
Have you ever wondered how Kingsley met Juliette? Well I certainly have, and what a story that is!
How about what happened during the year that Elle left Soren? When did Nora decide she wanted to be a dominatrix and/or an author?

Beyond these burning questions, The Virgin is an insight into the significant moments between the trio. How they rely upon each other, and how they provide the missing piece that each needs.
It's amazing how 1 incident can be the catalyst for so many lives.

I loved reading about young(er) Elle and King. These two are fun and carefree, but dedicated and loyal. The entire book was told through either character about their past. As with other White Years books, the story starts at the present with the characters reminiscing over the past. *This situation had my FULL attention from the get go!*

I can't wait to read the next book in this series, as I love each character and want to know everything about them.

Just when I thought January couldn't get any better, I check my box and I have an ARC for The Virgin. Five stars fantastic book! I love answers and this book gave me that missing year, and Juliette's history with Kingsley. Amazing book! Could not put it down!

Amazing book! I love this series and nothing could have prepared me for a Nora f/f relationship. Just when I think the author couldn't possibly be any more taboo, she slaps me upside the face with this novel. I'm not a big fan of girl on girl action but this author does an amazing job. I much prefer my book with men but I think the bigger picture here is that you can love anyone. Kingsley also gives us an idea of how he came to have Juliette. It gave me a whole new prospective on Juliette that I definitely wouldn't have had. The only beef I had with the book is that there wasn't enough Soren.....but hey. In my mind there never is. This book didn't top Kingsley's book but I really enjoyed it. Overall entertainment is five stars!

Once again Ms. Reisz has surpassed herself with an amazing book – it both moves the story forward and fills in some significant gaps. And whilst I do not want this series to end, I am looking forward to reading them all in one stretch, as it will be fascinating to tie together all the stories. That said, even with months between stories, the characters are so strong that it is impossible not to fall straight back into the warped, but wonderful world of Nora, Kingsley and Soren.

The humour, the passion, the insight into some essential back-stories all add up to an unputdownable read. Thank goodness I am on holiday, and that no one needed me in the last 24 hours, as I was totally immersed in this story.

Interestingly, I do believe that you could read this as a standalone, and go on to read the other books and not spoil the story. It may move forward and backwards, so you know that their story continues even now, but it could not spoil the erotic madness that happens in between!

Genius – thank you again Ms. Reisz for a wonderful, wonderful read.

Tiffany Reisz is the author of the internationally bestselling and award-winning Original Sinners series for Mira Books (Harlequin/Mills & Boon). Tiffany's books inhabit a sexy shadowy world where romance, erotica and literature meet and do immoral and possibly illegal things to each other. She describes her genre as "literary friction," a term she stole from her main character, who gets in trouble almost as often as the author herself.

She lives in Portland, Oregon. If she couldn't write, she would die.
