Pisces Hooks Taurus by Anyta Sunday Blog Tour

It’s a time for searching, and a time for finding, Pisces: keep casting your line and you will hook what you’re looking for.

Zane has it all planned out: land the perfect Meet Cute, fall in love, and live happily ever after.

Should be simple enough if he put his mind to it. A little creativity and some thinking outside of the box, and voila, he’d be married to the woman of his dreams.
It would be perfect.

And it would be before his visa ran out.

But why are his feelings running wild now that the pressure’s on? Why is his picture-perfect plan turning into a muddled mess of morphed metaphors he can’t make sense of anymore?

Just as well he’s met an English professor to help. And even though their first meet is anything but cute, this down-to-earth teacher may just be the realist Zane needs to ground him and give him a shot at love after all.

Don’t cast your line too wide, Pisces. Your perfect catch may already have bitten.

Pisces Hooks Taurus (Signs of Love #4) is an MM opposites-attract romantic comedy featuring an unapologetic romantic and a broken realist.
More wit, banter and bad puns – and even more heart-stopping slow burn!
Can be read as a standalone.

When they finished eating, Zane and Beckett entered a kitchen littered with a weekend’s worth of dishes. The room smelled like spoiled banana. Beckett grumbled Leah’s name, and Zane turned on the water.

Leah would have left this until tomorrow? “I’ll wash, you dry?”

Beckett first took out the trash and opened the windows. Fresh air cleansed the room as they worked.

Zane daydreamed about the story he was outlining and startled when Beckett cried, “What are you doing?”

Zane looked into the sink. “Scrubbing this clean?”

“With a wire scrubbing brush? That’s a very expensive nonstick pan.”

He frowned. “And I want to clean it.”

“Good Lord. Have you never washed dishes before?”

“I am literally doing what I’ve done every other night since moving in with you.”

Beckett paled. “You’ve scrubbed this pan with that before?”

“What do you expect me to do? Lick it clean?”

“Use a washcloth.”

“Do you know how disgusting those are? Like, two hundred thousand times dirtier than the toilet seat.”

Beckett paused, tone shifting. “Which is why you only use it for the dining table?”

“Exactly.”

“Please use the dishcloth on my pan.”

Zane dropped the metal scrubbing brush and thumped around passive-aggressively as he found a clean dishcloth.

Beckett nodded. “Thank you.”

That little thank-you grated Zane the wrong way. He sullenly scrubbed the pan and put it on the drying rack. He plunked the next pot into the water, splashing bubbles onto his face, neck, and shirt.

He sighed. Served him right.

Beckett set down the plate he’d dried and turned Zane around. With his dishtowel, he dabbed the bubbles off Zane’s chin and neck.

Their eyes locked, and Zane felt the frustration bleed from him. “You missed a spot,” he said, and shifted Beckett’s hands to Zane’s shirt.

Beckett shook his head and dabbed him some more.

“Our first fight.”

Beckett’s hands stilled.

“It’s a milestone, Becky. We have to celebrate.”

“Celebrate fighting?”

“Celebrate making up.”

“Will this be a thing every time we’re annoyed with each other?”

Zane smirked. “I hope so. I’m sure some fights will take longer to get over, but that’s cool. The celebration is always in proportion to the effort needed to make up.”

Beckett resumed drying the dishes. “Two hundred thousand times dirtier?”

Zane nodded. Disgusting but true.

Beckett frowned. “Maybe just use your hand?”

“I don’t know,” Zane teased. “The things my hand does might make the pan dirtier.”

Beckett dropped his very nice, expensive pan. He caught it against his thighs and stowed it in the cupboard.

The ticklish glare Beckett sent him made the rest of the cleaning fly by.

When they were done, Zane threw himself on the armchair. “Now we celebrate.”

Beckett tossed the dish towel into the laundry room. “How?”

“After you start that laundry, I’ll let you talk about books, Becky.”

Beckett’s laughter trickled down the hall. A few minutes later, he returned with Pride and Prejudice. He cracked open the first page, and pacing before him, all grace and proper pronunciation, Beckett read aloud.

5 Naive Stars.

This is the fourth installment of the Signs of Love series by Anyta Sunday, and can easily be read as a standalone. The few ties connecting past narrators to this novel are mentioned, but not enough to confuse new readers – more like just enough to spark recognition in past readers who didn't recently read the previous installments.

Our Pisces is super sweet, young, naive, romantic, and a dreamer, almost to a childlike level. Our Taurus is mature in all ways, especially emotionally, which has left him jaded and hesitant. Both contributing opposing viewpoints and personality types to their bromance, creating the ultimate of balances.

Our narrator Zane, our fish, he's a Kiwi transplant, who's looking for love at first sight and a green card, but only if it's true love, as he only plans on getting married once. He's a dreamer to a childlike degree, forcing something that needs to be organic. He wants to stay in the States to be near his brother, sister-in-law, and his infant niece, seeing them as his closest family. Thrust out of his living situation, he needs a quick place to stay. His sister-in-law gives him the number to Becky, who is her brother's ex.

Zane shows up and makes a fool of himself, causing me to blush and cringe with sympathy embarrassment. But he's so young and sweet, no one could be mean to him.

Zane likes Becky, the intellectual vibe he gives off, wants to bunk with him, so he begins to plot the perfect bromance. Blind innocence, with no shame, no hang-ups, no filter, and insecurities over his intellect.

Becky has shame, has hang-ups, has a filter, and his only insecurity is whether people are his friends because they want something from him or because they truly like him. Becky was hurt in the past by Zane's brother-in-law, and the stubborn bull has vowed never to marry again.

Without spoiling any of the plot. Becky knows what's up, even if Zane is oblivious. He tries desperately to set boundaries, but it's difficult when such an innocent person is charming the 'literal' pants off him.

The slow-burn is wrought with tension, banter, humor, friendship, true affection, budding love, and the building pressure of lust. This borders on gay-for-you, with Becky causing Zane to realize how fluid his sexuality is, especially adding the intimacy components of their friendship to the mix. Almost a combination of bisexual and demisexual.

There's an addictive quality to the romance, so sweet and innocent, where a jaded character lets his guard down and a naive character grows in life skills. The perfect balance.

Highly recommended to fans of the author and MM romance. I'm not going to deny it, Anyta Sunday is my go-to MM romance author, always giving me slow burn, realistic romance, and this book tops the list for me. Eager to read whatever the author creates next, I do believe this book would be reread-worthy for me.

To begin, Pisces Hooks Taurus wasn’t on my review list. Actually, it wasn’t even on my radar any farther than noting the author and getting one of my co-reviewers signed up to review it because she’s a fan of Anyta Sunday’s writing. I myself have never read the author and wouldn’t normally attempt my first read of any author’s work with the fourth book in one of their series. However, upon finishing it my co-reviewer told me that she thought I’d love it. After confirming that it was a standalone, I figured I owed it to myself to at least check it out as a Pisces.

Turns out, she was not wrong. I freaking adore Pisces Hooks Taurus! You guys, this has got to be the sweetest story I’ve read or listened to this year. My face actually hurts from grinning nearly the entire time. The only time the smile left my face was when Luke appeared in the story, and much like Zane, I wanted to pummel the little weasel – on both Beckett’s behalf and Zane’s. It was so entertaining to watch Zane muck about in his obliviousness in regard to his bromance with Beckett. I don’t know if this is a Pisces trait or not, but the level of cluelessness Zane exhibited at times had me chuckling at my own memories of life’s flashing neon signs I’ve missed over the years. Normally I would say I felt connected or invested in Zane because of it, but that’s not a strong enough term. The kinship I felt for my fellow Pisces is something I’ve felt only a few times before with other book characters and I daresay I would have felt compelled to research hexes had Sunday not given Zane and Beckett the happy ending they deserved. Am I being overly dramatic? Perhaps, but only to impress upon you just how much I loved Pisces Hooks Taurus. It looks like I’ll be checking out the books in the series that have already been released as audiobooks to see if they give me a case of the grins as well.

Gemini Keeps Capricorn by Anyta Sunday Blog Tour

Sometimes, one stubborn Capricorn is all it takes… to drive Wesley Hidaka to crazy, flirtatious lengths.

Wesley loves annoying his RA Lloyd Reynolds. He just can’t help it. Lloyd is focused, decisive, grounded. He has this amusing ability to follow rules.
Of course Wesley wants Lloyd to break one… or three hundred.

Sometimes, one smirking Gemini is all it takes… to have Lloyd laying down the law and marching Wesley straight back to his dorm room.

It doesn’t stop Wesley teasing again. And again. And again...
But damn. Lloyd doesn’t crack easily. He’s full of principles. He’s unshakable.
He’s the perfect friend to have when Wesley needs help. Like with his truant brother and his old high school principal.

Sometimes, one little lie is all it takes… to find Wesley fake-engaged to his off-limits RA.

What can he say? It seemed like a good idea at the time...

Gemini Keeps Capricorn serves up a double shot of cluelessness, with a side of rock’n’roll and topped with a slow burn HEA.
It can be read as a standalone.

“We can’t have coffee. We have to leave. Now.”

“What do you mean, we can’t have coffee?” Lloyd sounded incredulous, as though Wesley had casually suggested castration as an alternative to daily washing.

Wesley tugged Lloyd out of the line they’d been waiting in for ten minutes. “I’m the one up at nine in the morning with a grumpy RA. If anyone needs coffee, it’s me.” He glanced across the room at a top-button-collared man weaving his way in their direction. “But it has to wait.”

“Wesley? Right now? I legitimately fear for your life.”

“I’ll get us coffee later. More than one. My treat.”

Lloyd gave up resisting, and they almost escaped the bustling café.

“Young Mister Hidaka!”

Wesley swallowed a groan and clutched Lloyd’s forearm as he turned them around to face his childhood pastor. Pastor Geoff had a gray beard, rim-free glasses, and a condescending regard—like usual.

“Your mother prays every week that you come back home.” Pastor Geoff registered Lloyd’s presence, and his face shadowed. “You’ve lost your way, son.”

That was about as much as Wesley would put up with. “I am very sure of my way, and I’ll keep walking it. In fact, I’m going to walk it right now. Vigorously. With my fiancé.”

Wesley steered Lloyd out the door, leaving the pastor gaping behind them. He didn’t stop walking or let go until they were safely ducking down behind Lloyd’s car. Well, Wesley was ducking down. Lloyd was staring at him with disbelief and amusement—and something else.

“Has he stopped watching us yet?” Wesley asked, noticing how close his face was to Lloyd’s crotch. Lloyd jerked and bumped against the car door.

Wesley took a moment to absorb Lloyd’s reaction, and a smile quivered at his lips. He straightened, keeping barely an inch between them.

Lloyd caught his elbow and helped him along, muttering under his breath. “I really need coffee.”

“Is that what they’re calling it these days?”

Lloyd closed his eyes and took a calming breath, then opened the passenger door. “Get in, flirtster.”

Wesley smirked, and jumped in.

Gemini Keeps Capricorn is the third installment of the Signs of Love series, and can easily be read as a standalone. A brief mention/cameo by a past couple, but the storylines do not intersect, so no confusion to be had if read as a standalone. The common denominator is the narrator's obsession with astrology.

The novel is a mishmash of several tropes: slow-burn, friends-to-lovers, forbidden romance.

Wesley is a flirty, pre-law student who is still rooming in the dorm as a way to avoid his mother. While avoiding one's mother seems like he doesn't have a sense of family, that couldn't be farther from the truth. Wesley's mother is confused by his 'gaying,' and that is why he avoids her at all costs, even though I felt she was written as missing Wesley and simply confused, rather than homophobic. Wesley is a helicopter parent to his younger brother, Caleb, who seems to always be on campus instead of at his high school, the production he's staring in, or at practice. Caleb is always around, adding another side romance as well as 'borrowed' drama and conflict.

The forbidden, slow-burn, and friends-to-lovers angle is between Wesley and his RA, Lloyd. They've been almost-friends, feeling one another since they met years ago, doing their mating dance. Lloyd is a Capricorn, which, according to Wesley, is the worst match possible for a Gemini. Between the astrology of it, and the fact that Lloyd is a rule-follower to Wesley's rule-breaker, being the floor's RA makes the budding romance impossible.

Gemini Keeps Capricorn is a feel-good, warm and fuzzy, zany comedy, with a very slow-burn romance. The focus of the story seems to concentrate on the side characters more often than the main couple, as the reader waited for their relationship to truly begin.

I enjoyed the side characters and their stories, as well as their interactions with the narrator. There was a ton of tension-filled banter. I need to say I'm a sucker for slow-burn, absolutely adoring sexual tension and will-they, won't-they but perhaps this was too slow, like the reader was waiting for a guaranteed happily ever after, so it dragged often for me.

I'm a big fan of the author's, and I've enjoyed this series as a whole, but this installment didn't resonate with me as the others had. Perhaps it was the almost chaotic feel the narrator gave off, creating a jarring pacing. There wasn't much happening on the pages, yet the zany interactions made the pacing feel less fluid/organic. While this was banterific between the characters, it was hard to become emotionally invested when it felt as if there should be an accompanying laugh track. The chaotic comedy was jarring in juxtaposition to how the pacing dragged with inconsequential scenes.

I recommend to those who are a fan of this author and series, as well as those looking for a laid-back, comedic MM romance, that's lighthearted and warm and fuzzy.

Angie – ☆☆☆
I have read all the previous books and really enjoyed them. This one missed the mark for me. I couldn't connect with Wesley or Lloyd. I was bored most of the book and found myself skimming. I really tried to get into it since the previous books were so good. I didn't even feel like this book was about Wesley and Lloyd because we heard and learned more about secondary characters. Total miss for me, but since I love the series, I will continue reading and hope this was just a one off.

Scorpio Hates Virgo by Anyta Sunday Release Blitz

This year is all about healing the heart, Scorpio. It’s time to leave negative attitudes and stoic facades at the door and let others see the real, more vulnerable you.

Percy Freedman is not grieving. Absolutely not, take that back at once. No, he’s entirely sure that selling his dead aunt’s home and leaving the neighbors he’s known for years is the sane thing to do. Who in their right mind would keep the house that smells like all the hugs he’ll never have again?

Nobody, that’s who.

Well, except his cul-de-sac neighbors. They all seem to think some paint and new furniture will clean the emotional slate. They all want him to stay.

Even his nemesis, Callaghan Glover.

Especially his nemesis, Callaghan Glover.

Lured into a game of Sherlock Gnomes, Percy finds himself hanging out with his neighbors more than might be considered healthy. Along with juggling new and surprising verbal grenades from Cal, and his burgeoning friendship with Gnomber9, Percy is starting to wonder if selling might have been the grief talking after all...

That’s right, Scorpio. With a little patience, heartbreak might be a thing of the past...

Scorpio Hates Virgo contains sarcasm, sexual content, a slightly sappy HEA, and an unhealthy obsession with dinosaurs.
It can be read as a standalone.

The image of Cal in his shower stuck in his head like a nasty thorn, following him back to his place an hour later. It took a concentrated effort and a ton of porn to knock it from behind his retinas.

It really didn’t help when, on the edge of coming a second time, he realized he was sliding the soles of his feet over the sheets Cal had given him.

It knocked the generic porn-dude out of his head and he found himself imagining Cal’s form through lightly fogged glass.

Cal stroked himself, his thick cock sliding through a slickened hand. He choked on a groan, his head rolling back. His eyes widened when he glimpsed Percy on the other side of the door watching but his hand didn’t stop. He stroked faster. His voice was mellow and dripped of sarcasm. Sarcasm and curiosity. “Perseus.”

“Callaghan.” Percy entered the shower, straining and naked. He walked through the mist spraying off Cal’s gently coiled muscles and pushed him against the wall. “You’re not meant to star in my sex-fantasies.”

Cal set those measuring eyes on his, bottom lip parting, the slick sound of his working hand growing louder. On every upward stroke, his hand grazed Percy’s stomach. “Sex in the shower is one of your fantasies? How highly imaginative of you.”

“Since your favorite weapon is your mouth, I think that’s what you should use.”

“To what?”

“Ruin me for any other man.”

Cal dropped to his knees, looking up smugly. “Like my mouth doesn’t do that already.”

Percy’s toes curled and pinched the sheets, and his cock unloaded hot and heavy, the orgasm wringing through every damn inch of his body.

Well. Wasn’t this peachy?

I really like this series. This was a sweet love story that wasn't insta-love. Percy and Callaghan have a great relationship even though they try to act like they don't. Cal's family is wonderful – even though they are going through a rough time, they are always so positive. The whole game with the cul-de-sac was hilarious. I love gnomes, so it was extra funny for me. This is a great book if you don't want a lot of angst and just need a feel-good story.

5 Slow-Burn Stars

Scorpio Hates Virgo is the second installment in the Signs of Love series. However, it could easily be read as a standalone. There is a bit of a what-are-they-up-to cameo by Theo and Jamie when they visit Theo's mom across the street.

Percy is the narrator for this installment, a childhood neighbor of Theo's. Percy is grieving the passing of his aunt, the woman who took him in when he left his family, and raised him with unconditional love. Not only did his aunt take him in, the entire cul-de-sac did as well.

After inheriting his aunt's home, Percy returns to the cul-de-sac filled with zany, slightly overbearing, well-meaning, meddlesome neighbors who wish to become the family he's never had in the absence of his aunt. The only problem is Cal – Percy's nemesis from his awkward teenage years. The cute boy across the street turned Percy into a hot mess, so instead of dealing with that, Percy and Cal created a tension-filled, love-hate frenemyship.

Percy is gun-shy after not only losing his aunt, but also being left for another man by his boyfriend. The massage therapist is helpful, kind, and giving, but this giver doesn't do well asking for help or taking from others.

The whole of the plot is a slow-burn romance, but also the homecoming and warmth of a family who chooses him as their own.

Percy and Cal do a slow dance of friendship, lust, and mutual attraction – the levity of their banter lessens the heavy weight of the grief surrounding all those in the cul-de-sac. Scorpio Hates Virgo runs the gamut of emotions, but it's the perfect balance of gut-twisting hurt, the warmth of family, the tension of lust, combined with unexpected humor.

I can't wait to see where Anyta Sunday takes the series next, wishing to have another injection of the warm and fuzzies.

*two instances of word mix-ups may have American readers stumped (series takes place in the US by an American narrator, otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it). One of which gave me a good chuckle, because even though I knew what the author meant, it took on an entirely different connotation until I read it a second time. (laughing) I seriously thought Hannah was grabbing an actual torch, like a tiki torch for ghost-repellent during camping. So the mix-up had me laughing out loud for real when I figured out what was truly being said. I hesitated the first time I read it, imagining a 4-year-old running around with an open flame, and seriously doubted Cal's parenting abilities for a split-second.

Lounge = Living Room.
Torch = Flash Light (but seriously, an actual torch would've made it hilarious).

Leo Loves Aries by Anyta Sunday

A new person will enter your life in the early year, Leo. Look past any moments of frustration they might bring and laugh—this could be the start of a thriving friendship.

Theo Wallace usually laughs at the horoscopes his mom sends. Still hung up on his ex-girlfriend and practically friendless, this one begs him to reconsider. Because a friendship that stuck, that thrived…

Well, that would be a reason to leave past pains behind and look to the Bright Future.

When his sister Leone challenges him to find her the perfect date for a spring wedding, Theo uses it as a chance to make new friends. Theo’s ex economics tutor and newest roommate Mr. Jamie Cooper seems to be a possible and convenient match. Real convenient. Like written in the stars, convenient.

All he has to do is make sure this Jamie is good enough. Could really be The One for her, and the friend for him.

But watch out, Leo, the stars have a surprise in store…

Leo Loves Aries is a sweet slow burn M/M romance with HEA. This New Adult college GFY friends-to-lovers novel can be read as a standalone.

I can’t even do this book justice with my review, just know that I freaking loved this book!!! I normally hate slow burn romance books, but this one just worked! It sucked me in and I couldn’t put the book down. I just loved Leo and Jamie and then Leone and eventually Sean. The chemistry between Jamie and Theo was off the charts and I also loved how the author handled Leone and her being blind. As soon as I finished this book I dove into the next book, which is a short story called Leo Tops Aries (Signs of Love #1.5), which was amazing as well. I simply cannot wait until the second book comes out!!!

Characters: Well written and easy to relate to
Sex: Oh yeah!
Religious: No
Would I recommend to others: Yes
More than one book in the series: Yes
Genre: M/M Romance
Would I read more by this author: Yes

5 slow-burn stars.

Leo Loves Aries is the epitome of slow-burn, and it's done right. The romance between the characters, the connection, the tension and chemistry, and the friendship is beyond realistic, leaving the reader feeling as if they are on a true journey. No insta-anything. No ‘I think you're hot so it must be love.’

If you're new to Anyta Sunday, all of her fans expect a slow-burn romance, witty, humorous banter, and fully developed heroes with engaging side characters. The pacing is slightly on the slower side, but not bogged down with unnecessary detailing. The plot is character-driven, without a ton of bells and whistles to distract from the flawless storytelling.

Leo Loves Aries is based on the compatibility of the astrological signs.

Theo and Leone are twins who were both ditched by their boyfriend and girlfriend, when the pair fell in love with each other. Feeling the burn when they receive an invitation to their exes' upcoming wedding, they vow to find the other a date, to prove they are over them.

Amongst the angst of past hurt, the twins are in need of a new roommate. Jamie walks into their lives, a past tutor of Theo's, and their world opens up in ways they didn't imagine.

Theo hasn't ever truly connected with another human being, not as tightly as he has with his twin. What he felt with his ex was bland, uninspired, but he assumed that's how it always is. As his friendship grows with Jamie, the connection is intense and life-affirming, but Theo is emotionally blind, whereas his sister is physically blind.

Leo Loves Aries is the slow-burn journey as Theo comes to terms with falling in love for the very first time. The reality of the emotion. While his sister falls head over heels too.

Theo is our narrator – his personality is infectious, even his flaws. The banter between him and everyone is humorous yet never over-the-top. It's written in a dry, witty way that suits my reading style best.

The side characters are just as appealing. The twins' mom is a zany character, obsessed with astrology. Jamie's mom is quintessentially an understanding, supportive mom. Leone and Theo's friends, Ben and Kyle, are awesome. Jamie's BFF Sean is a solid guy. It was refreshing to see a supportive cast actually be supportive, with normal human emotions, instead of being vindictive or flighty.

Leo Loves Aries was a soothing, relaxing, romantic book, with a ton of heart-string tugging. The angst and humor weren't over-the-top, and I had no frustrating urges as I read. It was a pleasure to sit back and relax on a dreary Sunday.

Recommended to Anyta Sunday and MM romance fans.

*Note: I've stated this in past reviews of books by this author, and others. I don't down-rate due to this, but I do know there are sticklers who may become irritated by it, which is why I mention it.

Using the word-spelling of the writer's origin is acceptable and unavoidable. However, if writing a story while using colloquialisms, slang, and the differing word usage from the region, it throws the reader. Also, destinations and times of travel must be taken into account. If you're not from the region, a bit of research is in order.

I wasn't sure the locale of Leo Loves Aries until I saw commentary on Lake Erie, which had me doing a double-take. I discovered they lived in Pittsburgh, and were traveling to places which would take much longer than the 4 hours stated – MUCH longer. 12+ hours of nonstop driving, actually. It's not a hop and a skip and a jump from Pitt to Wisconsin and Minnesota. As a Pennsylvania resident, I can guarantee no one from the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, or New England would use singlet as a term. Which is why I thought this story didn't take place in the US. However, I am happy to see that there weren't as many of these issues cropping up as in books in the past. Other than singlet and the wrong travel times, I thought the author did a wonderful job bridging the gap to sound as if the characters were born in the US.

A born and raised New Zealander, Anyta Sunday has been exploring the literary world since she started reading Roald Dahl as a kid. Inspired, stories have been piling up in her head ever since. Fast forward to her mid-twenties and jump a few countries (Germany, America, and back again), and she started putting pen to paper. When she’s not writing or chasing her kids around, she’s reading, hiking, watching a Joss Whedon series, attempting Pilates, or curling up with her two cats.
